Well you keep your mind set there. You are still not really free. Freer than some but still tied to much.
Freedom is only a mind set in the philosophical sense.
The machinations of politicians can only hinder our lifestyle.
doesn't matter really because one has to weigh what true freedom means and if that is what is personally important to you...freedom has limits...

if you were on an island alone you would for all intents and purposes not be subject to anyone else's control

are you free?

I would say no

I am freer than my ancestors have been probably since they were hunter-gatherers ten millenia ago.

Actually all joking aside we have it pretty damn good in this country, there's opportunity for every one who wants to get off their A$$ and hustle.
Pretty much and free food for those who won't .

You do know that your post was approved of by somebody right?

A few hundred years ago, I might have been put in the stocks for having an opinion. A couple of hundred more and I wouldn't have been allowed to learn how to read. Go back another few hundred and I could be hanged for some Feudal Liege/thug's pleasure. Go back 1800 years and my people were being enslaved by the Romans.

Yup. There's a spook in a catacomb in Virginia collecting this stuff, too but due to the sheer weight of data moving around every moment, this stuff is no more than chaff.

freer in some ways for sure and in others more limited so less free but that's why we must consider our definition of free

Nope you would have been conscripted or pressed and used as cannon food like most peasants the world over .

In my case, it would have been sub-arctic tundra, 10,000 years ago.

Apparently, my genotype is that of the Paleolithic aboriginal population of Northwestern Europe.

I don't mind the cold at all.

Really.

I was a volunteer.

Me bad.

Really? You sure Neb's Babylon wasn't beginning of that enslavement, an act decreed by God if I'm not mistaken.

What? The Brythonic Celts?

The Romans came for the freakin' tin, not as avenging angels.

I prefer the cold to the grinding heat and so does my fair skin it's hard to admit that though after the extremely cold winter we've just experienced in Southern Ontario

The 'my people' threw me. In your case that would be a rescue from being a bone gnawers to having a pave road and something called 'books'. Sorry for the misunderstanding, back on track.

That Canada is a free and open nation run by the most honest people we can muster.

Say it ain't so. You might need help in spotting the important words go read slow. Now if this is the US and Harper is taking direction from International Corporations then this would certainly apply to him and all that he touches. The Medusa touch if you will.
Why Is the System so Screwed Up? Because Corruption Is Legal

Many of us often wonder how our system of government became so dysfunctional. Theories abound as to why, but one thing is certain. No matter what we do, it rarely seems like the government is listening to us. If anything, when they do pass or repeal a law that the vast majority of the voting public wants them to pass or repeal, it seems like they only do it when it happens to coincide with their interests (or the interests of their financiers).
The truth of the matter is that our government is corrupt (I know, big surprise). But more importantly, our corruption doesn’t always take the form of shady backroom deals like many of us imagine. It’s actually right out in the open for all to see. The reason why our system is such a racket, is that in America, corruption is perfectly legal.

Get some newer C&P. We got rid of the Liberals years ago. Things are much better now.

Funny because your running naked across the savannah does appeal to most of us.

AS long as you are not a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer you fall well under the radar.
