I was watching Market Place on CBC this past week and they exposed that the majority of containers that have product of Canada on their labels are not from Canada.

According to Market Place if 52% of the cost of the whole product is made in Canada which includes the packaging
This means that the food is imported from countries that do not have the same high standards that Canada has for it’s food then Canadians suffer the mercury saturated fish that is harvested in Vietnam and China where they have little value for human life can have the Product of Canada label on it.

I am really surprised that the Conservative government is allowing this since they are always talking about helping and protecting Canadians.

Yep! Indonesia has a bad rep for fish and sanitation. Shrimp in China and Vietnam. But you get it here in fish sticks. Captain Highliner was shown to have all their stock trucked in frozen in blocks 6 weeks before. They process it in Halifax so they call it a Canadian product.

Ice Cream, Garlic all are familiar brands but ingredients come from other countries. It's not really a Canadian product. It don't think it's right to put that designation on anything that isn't totally a Canadian Product from start to finish.

Another question that comes to mind is what if any affect do those ingredients have on the people who consume them?

Yeah with the problems with China why are we getting so much food from them? Even they say they have problems with twenty percent of their food supply.

How do you source things that come exclusively from China?

Don't try to hang this on the Conservative government although they should be putting a stop to this type of deception, but the fact is this has been going on under the Lieberals as well, although they want you to think that they have been protecting your interests, The truth is that the Liberals, the Conservatives, and the NDP are willing to follow a corporate agenda, and don't let them fool you. This is all about corporate greed, and maximizing corporate profits. Until we as Canadians wake up and start checking those labels, and refusing to buy any product tunless it is at least made in North America, they are going to continue with this deception. Mattel should have been a wake-up call for all, but obviously people are looking at the price on the article instead of where it is made. If we look at those labels we will find that much of what we buy is made in the third world, where no standards exist, and where often as not, child labour is used to produce these products.

I am not moved by those sad advertisements about children starving on the streets, and eating out of garbage dumps, because these greedy corporation are not in those countries to improve the lots of those children, they are simply there for the cheap labour. Last I checked that cheap labour certainly is not reflected in the price tags of the articles that have been made in the third world, and that's simply called CORPORATE GREED.
