When we sold our lakeside home in rural Hastings Highlands (Pop: 4,078) a couple of years back to move to downtown Ottawa, the Canada Revenue Agency wanted to know when and at what price we had bought the home, as well as the amount for which it sold.
When the CRA suddenly wants details about the largest investment most Canadians will ever make, one’s sphincter muscle tends to tighten.
Now we might know why.
Despite denials, the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau — aka PM Blackface — stands accused by the Tories of plotting against us, led by Liberal Toronto MP Adam Vaughan, for eight years one of the more socialist members of Toronto city council, and one of the attack dogs who incessantly tormented the city’s late and troubled mayor, Rob Ford.
A Thursday ago, the Conservative Party of Andrew Scheer posted a tweet that probably answered why the CRA was likely digging for the information about the sale of our home, and likely the homes of millions of others.
The federal election is now only a month away, of course, so dirt digging is a big part of the game — especially this election.
And thus came the Tories’ tweet.
“@Justin Trudeau and @TOAdamVaughan have a secret plan to tax the sale of your home at 50%,” it reads. “This is Trudeau’s secret agenda: tax hikes to pay for his massive deficits. You work hard, you increase the value of your home, and the Liberals take 50%. How is that fair? #NotAsAdvertised.”

Fifty percent would be criminal, of course. Even the sketchiest credit-card provider and those devious pay-day loan outfits aren’t that greedy.
(LIE-berals have - in their usual HYPOCRITE WAY- branded Scheer as a LIAR - and they claim THERE IS NO PLAN tax the sale of your house - HOWEVER- LIE-berals DELICATELY tip-toe around the issue of NEW WEALTH TAXES!!!)
(And SURPRISE - taxing your estate after you die- so that your kids inherit MUCH LESS cash from the sale of your house -HAS DEFINITELY BEEN ON LIE-beral minds - and on the minds of NDPers as well!! The Socialist Asshats see confiscating your estate and ensuring your kids GET NOTHING- as a great social “leveller”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(By imposing new wealth taxes- LIE-berals hope to CRIPPLE what they see as white privilege- AND pick up a huge new pile of gravy as well!! LIE-berals have discovered that people are HOSTILE to the new wealth tax and are now distancing themselves in order to avoid losing votes from their main supporters - meaning our civil service union HOGS who expect to freely pass on all sorts of stuff- like the family cottage on the lake - and the costly gas guzzling motor cruiser - down to their kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
But any tax on the sale of one’s main home would also be wrong, unless there was a business link.
Yet, if the Trudeau Liberals get re-elected, any of the profits people use from the sale of their principal residence to fund their kids’ post-secondary years, or to provide a cushion for retirement, could be cut in half in some cases.
(As mentioned- LIE-berals have been distressed at the strong REVULSION their idea has generated and they are backing away from it- FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The Tories even posted the Liberal document from 2018 outlining the plan.
(And actual EVIDENCE of LIE-beral policy discussion is not enough to discourage LIE-berals from calling Scheer a LIAR????????????????????)
Adam Vaughan was quick to call it hogwash.
Scheer was even pressed by the media whether he would apologize for the tweet, and stop flinging the accusation around, as if Adam Vaughan were suddenly the bearer of an undeniable truth.
But search out the tweet yourself, look at the Liberal document attached, and see if it rings true to you.
The attachment has a paragraph on “Campaign Platform 2019,” that reads: “Another idea that emerged from housing town halls is a sliding Capital Gains Tax on principle (sic) residences. A 50% tax after one year of ownership, 25% after two years, 15% after three years, 10% after four years, 5% after five.”
(It would seem there is some LIE-beral thought here regarding clipping the wings of house speculators and flippers - too bad that such a tax will also SNARE and cripple people who have lost their jobs or who are getting a divorce or who are moving to find work some place else and MUST SELL the home!! LIE-berals will catch such people at their WEAKEST MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!)
All the Liberals have admitted thus far is a 1% tax on non-resident non-Canadians to prevent foreign speculators from driving up housing prices to the point that the middle class is left out of the home-ownership dream.
If this is their only plan, and not their “secret one,” then why not a 50% tax on foreign ownership to put a stop to the mega-home purchases heating up home prices in cities like Vancouver, which are often a more subtle way of washing dirty money than lugging a hockey bag into a casino crammed with cash?
(It is an admission of the TRUE STATE of BOTH our economy and of LIE-beral finances that they would so DESPERATELY COURT money laundering criminals - just so long as LIE-berals get a CUT of sales tax from the “laundry”!!!!!!!!!!!)
The Liberals’ war room is seasoned, and therefore not dumb.
They have been rattled for weeks and, now with PM Blackface, they will do anything to retain power-and a sudden 50% capital gains tax is not too low for them to go if they somehow get re-elected.
Just don’t expect them to admit it.

Neither is going to win. That's pretty obvious by now. It will be a Liberal minority government with the BQ and NDP pushing them further to the Left - which is where Trudeau wants to go anyway.
What I hope is that the PPC causes enough damage to the Tory party that when Scheer is dumped in six months they bring in someone conservative, and adopt conservative policies.
Quebec is okay with pipelines bringing oil to THEM, but if it's to someone else, you can forget it. They're selfish bastards and have zero commitment to Canada beyond holding their hands out for their monthly cheques from Alberta.
Younger people never vote conservative. Why would they? They don't pay any taxes, so all they're really interested in is who will offer the most free stuff (which they don't have to pay for). It's older people who actually fund the government who vote conservative.
