Once the explosions stop in Syria and Iraq the construction contracts will be given out, that is where the real money will be for the next 20 years.
.Where you come up with that Feminem? It takes $100/barrel to run a successful oilsands operation
.Where you come up with that Feminem?
If that were true, it's wickedly good news for SK but alas....
Major Canadian oilsands companies can run their existing operations profitably in a sub-$50 oil-price environment,
I saw it on a video news piece on the oil sands.
It is based on the cost if transported by rail and our current infrastructure.
Obviously it would be cheaper (and more environmentally friendly) by pipeline, but our track record on those projects is pretty spotty.
The break-even price of tar sands oil is around $100 per barrel if transported by rail, according to Anthony Swift, a staff attorney at NRDC (which publishes OnEarth). Tar sands oil sells for $75 on a good day. So producers have to find a savings of $25 per barrel somewhere in order to make it worth the investment.

Why Alberta's oil is likely to stay in the ground
"To get an operation up and running, oil needs to sell for at least $100. Any lower than that, and it's not even worth digging."
My son who has worked in the Oil patch on the Canadian prairies off and on for 30 years says that is bull sh*t.
