Canada stood alone before a United Nations human rights council yesterday, the only one among 47 nations to oppose a motion condemning the Israeli military offensive in Gaza.
The vote before the Geneva-based body shows the Stephen Harper government has abandoned a more even-handed approach to the Middle East in favour of unalloyed support of Israel, according to some long-time observers.

Webmaster's Commentary:
Another government subverted by Israel.

Good move but I wander if there is a motive for this support. They call it Canadian Jewish votes.
I don't mean to be cynical.

Good for Canada! I'm proud of our stand against the majority on the Commission..........

The conduct of foreign affairs is one of the few remaining reasons to vote for the Conservative Party of Canada.

Colpy, I second that!

If no one had supported any side I think it would have sent a stronger message to both sides to end this war.

Perhaps I am an optimist but I would love to see the day Jewish and Arab people could live in peace..

Silly me I believe in something impossible I guess..

There have been many opportunities over the years. Things get quiet. Things get too quiet. Limelight follows drama and the attendance revenues decline. Then, someone wants Alms for Allah or Bucks for Bennie and it all heats up again....

You're not a raving optimist at all Sir Francis, in fact most of recorded history indicates long periods of peaceful cohabitation accross the board only and exclusively interrupted by Zionists. In other words the long war waged by Israel is not a Jewish war it is not supported by the Jewish majority indeed Israel itself has no Jewish majority support. An Israel at peace cannot exist, it's entire reason for existence is wealth through conflict.

"But assessing yesterday's vote at the UN's human rights council, Heinbecker pointed out "the resolution is unbalanced" in its repeated condemnations of Israel."

Most of the European Countries abstained, not surprising considering the political climate there. Unlike the Jew-haters, I would actually like to read the resolution before condemning Canada for it's position.

Having said that, I have tremendous respect for Heinbecker and if he says the resolution is unbalanced...well...I tend to accept his view over those of the lesser folks.

You're applying a Zionist technique of labeling Zionist haters as Jew haters, there is a clear and important difference that you greasily skate arround. One is a sick destructive ideology and the other a religion.

Take out the Europeans that abstained and the rest of the group I hardly feel embarrassed for disagreeing with them on human rights grounds. If fact, I feel somewhat proud in a few instances.

..and speaking of greasily skating around the issue.

You should provide your rational for your selection of the human rights arbiters, of course I know that you can't. We can easily see by way of comparing where and why death destruction and starvation occur and where fat greasy people exist by the millions on the backs of others. I suggest you know nothing about human rights violators or where they might be found.

... and of course you are wrong.

The people of the world are the human rights arbiters. I believe that people want to be free to live there lives as they see fit. That is why most, if given a choice, would prefer the US, Canada, Switzerland or Australia over Libya, China, Iran or Egypt. If I'm wrong (and I'm always willing to accept that possibility) then there must be a reason why Canadians, Americans and Australians are not clamoring to move to North Korea...after all, it's probably a lot cheaper to live there.
