Give me an example of something Iran has done which is worse than Israel's treatment of Palestinians (ethnic cleansing, official discrimination, torture, murder, extrajudicial assassinations of political leaders....) or the US's treatment of Iraqi (false allegations of WMD stockpiles and links to 9/11 to start an unprovoked war which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis) or human rights abuses more grave than those than Abu Ghraib andGuantanamo Bay?

A picture is worth 1,000 words;

Anyway....I just edited out pics of hanged homosexuals in Iran, and pics of a woman who had just been stoned in Iran...........

"You have a problem with the truth???
And it wasn't "the JOOS" that severed diplomatic relations."

Apparently, you don't have a clue how the lobbying process works. Not surprising, I suppose.

You don't have a clue.

Here's foolish headline:

Peter MacKay pledges support for Israelis:

The article states that Canada has given private assurances to Israel. Often that means in Canada, nothing. Although the article does state that military cooperation between the two countries has been increasing.

War in Asia is for losers. Let's see, Korea for the USA was a tie, despite fighting under the banner of the UN. Vietnam was a clear loss. Iraq and Afghanistan ties at best. Out of eight points, maybe three.

Nothing public came of the talks. This idiots announcement indicates exactly the nature of our agreements with the demented murdering zionist regime. It also clearly defines the calibre of politician employed in this country and exactly where their alligance lies. These are not Canadians they are traitors to this nation and they have pledged Canadian lives without our consent.

WHen did Iran become Zionist?

This could be a mistake. We can be a sounding board for the west and we can
also accumulate a lot of information from that region. If we close the doors we
get nothing.
Oh I know, they are terrible their human rights record sucks, they are into the
development of Nukes, and they don't follow the rules of international commerce.
These are terrible offences.
Here is the biggest But, why are we still doing business with China? China is a
nation that has Nukes and supports the worst regime on earth North Korea.
China doesn't follow international business practices.
China has a worse human rights record than Iran.
I think its hypocrisy to end diplomatic relations with Iran and not China.
Oh I know we can't do that to China because the Multi Nationals that set up shop
there to take advantage of people in the worst conditions imaginable, wouldn't
like it.
I think this government had better develop a politically moral backbone or be silent
and open the doors.

The first picture looks like downtown Beirut in 2006 after Israel bombed it. Or it could be downtown Baghdad in 2003 after the US bombed it. Or it could be downtown Gaza in 2008/2009 after Israel bombed. It could also be the 2004 second siege of Fallujah when the US leveled the entire city. Then again it could be downtown Grozny in 2000 after Russia bombed it.

You are going to have to be more specific Colpy.

Also is the evidence as conclusive that Iran is responsible for the carnage as the evidence that Israel is responsible for bombing Beirut and Gaza, the US bombed Baghdad and Fallujah and Russia bombed Grozny?

I am against leveling densely populated urban areas no matter who does it. But as far as I know, Theocratic Iran has not done this.

I'm guessing the second image is the bus attack in Bulgaria that was never linked to Hezbollah which is linked to Iran. That one attack is sort of reminiscent of a string of terrorist attacks against Iranian nuclear scientists which were never linked to Israel.

I'm pretty sure the number of dead innocent civilians directly attributable to the Iran is miniscule compared to the number of dead innocent civilians attributed to the US, Israel and Russia... But I support Baird's efforts to give terrorist regimes the cold shoulder. I expect he will soon cut diplomatic relationships with these other terrorist regimes just to be consistent.

Anyway I just edited out the pictures of Abu Ghraib and the corpses of the Israeli torture victims.

This could be a mistake. We can be a sounding board for the west and we can
also accumulate a lot of information from that region. If we close the doors we

I agree Iran's human rights record sucks.

As far as I know Iran's nuclear program is closely monitored by the IAEA. So far the IAEA has not revealed any conclusive evidence supporting allegations of an Iranian nuclear weapon program. So far the scant evidence falls into the category evidence support of Iraq's WMD stockpiles.

I'm not sure what meant by Iran not following the rules of international business practices. I suspect that imposing economic sanctions against Iran because of its NPT compliant nuclear program by countries which violate the NPT probably violates international business practices.

Thank you L.
I guess Colpy hasn't heard the latest twists in this case

Summary of the facts:

On July 18, 1994, a suicide bomber levels a Jewish community center in Argentina killing 85 people and himself

- Local police charged and acquitted for lack of evidence. Several officers had large unaccountable bank accounts... (EAO: unrelated bribes? paid to look the other way? paid killers?)

- Judge Juan José Galeano, in charge of the case, was impeached and removed from his post on charge of "serious" irregularities due to mishandling of the investigation. (eao: took a bullet for the men?, gross incompetence and/or no results? ) The case goes cold due to the judge's incompetent bungling.

Two years later Argentina formally accuses Iran of involvement through Hezbollah operatives. Iran's alleged motivation was retaliation against Argentina for its decision to cut off exports of nuclear materials and based solely on the testimony of a former low ranking Iranian intelligence officer and two MEK operatives (US classified terrorist organization hostile to Iran).

Israeli diplomats claim the bomber's allegedly recovered head (unproven its the bomber's head) allegedly belongs to a Hezbollah operative (unproven the recovered head belongs to the Hezbollah operative) who died the same day (an agreed fac but the operative's family claim the he died the same day on a mission in Lebanon.)

Recent development:
Argentina never did end its nuclear cooperation as Iran's accusers believed...:
Asia Times Online :: Middle East News, Iraq, Iran current affairs

Argentina bowed somewhat to US pressure, but continued nuclear research cooperating with Iran. This new information indicates Iran had every reason not to piss off Argentina.

and this report
...The Bush Administration's manipulation of the Argentine bombing case is perfectly in line with its long practice of using distorting and manufactured evidence to build a case against its geopolitical enemies. After spending several months interviewing officials at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires familiar with the Argentine investigation, the head of the FBI team that assisted it and the most knowledgeable independent Argentine investigator of the case, I found that no real evidence has ever been found to implicate Iran in the bombing.

Based on these interviews and the documentary record of the investigation, it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that the case against Iran over the AMIA bombing has been driven from the beginning by US enmity toward Iran, not by a desire to find the real perpetrators.

Bush's Iran/Argentina Terror Frame-Up | The Nation

I can't claim to know who did what here. But I've read enough to know Iran's alleged involvement in this incident is questionable. Iran's alleged motive seems unlikely since Argentina and Iran continued to cooperate with their nuclear research and trade relations at the time... a relationship which later became poisoned as a consequence of Israeli diplomat allegations regarding this incident.

Possible explanations?
Hezbollah operative travels from Lebanon to commit suicide and poison Iran's relations with Argentina.

“Canada views the government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today,”Foreign Minister John Baird said in a statement.

“Under the circumstances, Canada can no longer maintain a diplomatic presence in Iran … Diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended,” he added.

Zioconservatism is the flavour of the decade. When will Canada hose out the stable? I can"t stand the stench.

IRAN IS MAD. OH WELL. Yesterday we closed our Canadian Embassy in Iran and told Iranian officials in Canada that they've got 5 days to pack up their toys and leave our sandbox. Now people are frazzled over what Iran is calling a "hostile decision" of the Canadian government. People are speculating over why we would do such a thing and what sort of secret knowledge we might have about what might be... happening soon in the realm of Iran ... as if all the public stuff over the last 30+ years isn't reason enough.

People, people, people. Let's be honest. We were never going to be pals, Iran has nothing we need or want, and there's only so much crap we're willing to tolerate. Just because the pretty girl doesn't want to go to the prom with you, that's no reason to get all pissy.

Iran is one big hot mess that's screwing with our mellow, and in Canada ... we're all about the mellow. Hey, ya ain't gotta go home, just get out of here and leave the maple syrup right where you found it.

Well, DUH.

You know, Israeli distrust and dislike of Iran might have something to do with Holocaust denial, not-very-veiled threats, a desire to wipe Israel off the map, and Iranian material support of Jew-hating terror groups such as Hezbollah.

Muslims have twice as many votes as Jews
Canada's decision to cut diplomatic relations with Israel is likely based on the Harper government's unshakable support for Israel. Israel and Iran share mutual hostility.

Iran is an oppressive religious state with an abysmal human rights record. I oppose Iran's discrimination based on religion, gender and sexual orientation. They have the death penalty. So I also don't support Canada having close relations with Iran.

I also find holocaust denial objectionable, but diversionary. Certainly Iran has more than a few Holocaust deniers. But they are words, not actions. Regarding the Holocaust, I believe it happened and that millinos of Jews, Roma, Slavs, Russian POWs, Jehovah Witnesses... perished in Nazi death camps. But I also support the right of historians to research these events and publish peer reviewed papers without harassment.

Both Iran and Israel practice religious based discrimination... just different religions, but the same kind of hate from my agnostic perspective. Both Israel and Iran have called for the other's down fall and neither side has threatened the other's genocide... despite distortions by Israel and their supporters to the contrary.

Israel possesses nukes and could vaporize Iran.

Iran possesses sufficient conventional weapons to vaporize Israel back, without resorting to WMDs.

Iran's human rights record is abysmal. They oppress women and homosexuals almost as badly as Saudi Arabia and a few other countries in the region.

Israel's human rights record is even worse than Iran's.

IMO, Canada should remain neutral. If we get sucked into this quagmire it won't be good for Canada. But Harper is our leader.. and its up to Canadians to hold Harper accountable if he get us involved in this mess.

I'm proud and grateful PM Chretien kept Canada officially out of Iraq. But if Harper had his way, we'd have gone in with the Americans to disarm Iraqis of their non-existent WMD stockpiles.

Parliamentary debate between Harper and Chretien 3 days before US invaded and occupied Iraq in March 2003
Harper's Conservatives wanted Canada to join the war in Iraq - YouTube

During the October 2008 election debates, Harper admitted that the Iraq war was a mistake:
But Duceppe continued to badger him as Harper tried to steer the discussion back to Afghanistan: "This is not the question I asked. . . I want to hear it. Do you admit it was an error of George Bush and you made the same error?"

Harper finally answered: "It was absolutely an error. It's obviously clear the evaluation of weapons of mass destruction proved not to be correct. That's absolutely true and that's why we're not sending anybody to Iraq."

Green Leader Elizabeth May shot back: "We're only not sending anyone to Iraq because you weren't prime minister at the time."

Harper's admission was in stark contrast to the speech he gave in the House of Commons -- much of it cribbed from Howard -- on the first full day of the Iraq invasion in March 2003.

Iraq war a mistake, Harper admits | CTVNews

Iran's nuclear program:

Iran is probably within a year of developing nuclear weapons and been at this threshold for at least 5 years. If Iran wanted nuclear weapons, they'd have built and tested one by now. Instead they have respected the 20% enrichment limit which prevents Iran from constructing nuclear "gadgets" for nuclear weapon research.

Since 2007 Iran has shut down a number of cascades, because they can produce more commercial and medical grade enriched uranium than they need.
Nuclear program of Iran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The IAEA has never found any evidence that Iran has ever enriched uranium to weapons grade levels or even planned or attempted to enrich uranium to weapons grade.

Iran has offered to conduct all their enrichment activities in a neutral third country like Switzerland.

The best explanation is that Iran-controlled Hezbollah did it because they simply love to kill Jews.......Nasrallah wishes they would all go to Israel so Hezbollah could kill them all in one place, but that hasn't happened, so they need to travel around.

RIGHT ON SCHEDULE. As expected, Iran is stepping to the plate with their threats of potentially swift and decisive retaliation against Canada for cutting off diplomatic relations, and in an interview with Iran's FARS News Agency, the Irania...n Foreign Ministry Spokesman had this to say: "The hostile attitude of the incumbent racist Canadian government, in fact, happen in compliance with the policies that are dictated by the Zionists and the British government." -- http://bit.ly/PcgQHS

Aaaaaand there we have it. Jews. If you don't agree with Iran, don't want to chat with Iran anymore, that means you're racists under the control of Jews and the British. Brits are also pawns of Jews, in case you didn't know.

Jew, Jew, Jew-Jew-Jew. Just because we're one of the few countries in the world willing to tell you to piss off, that doesn't mean we're under the control of anyone. Although, in the interest of fairness, British things do have a certain influence. Hey, here's the British embassy in Tehran last year: http://youtu.be/M1UwbXdicCE

Nothing says bat**** crazy like threatening someone because they don't want to talk with you anymore

United States Senate Rick Santorum sent a letter to Mr.Richard Haas President Council on Foreign Relations deep concern over an invitation to the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak in a public forum in the United States, your organization is demonstrating that it draws no distinction between world leaders who deserve respect and those that undermine the very values of the international system the United States seeks to uphold.

President Ahmadinejad has proven to be a threatening and irresponsible leader. His denial of the Holocaust and anti-Zionist statements
that Israel " must be wiped off the map" are offensive. He has routinely issued statements of hate against the United States, Israel and
Jewish peoples. Further the government of President Ahmadinejad has funded, armed, trained, assisted and sheltered leading terrorists, including terrorists active in Iraq using Iranian support to kill military personnel of the United States. Last but not least, he continues to defy the free world by insisting upon developing a nuclear capability -- a capability that will undoubtably be used to develop nuclear weapons. For these reasons, it would be irresponsible to give President Ahmadinejad such a forum in the United States in which to spread his message of hate and destruction.

President Ahmadinejad does not afford his own people the freedom of speech. By allowing him the opportunity to address a public forum in the the United States, you would be sending the wrong message to the people of Iran. I strongly urge you to revoke the Council on Foreign Relations invitation to President Ahmadinejad to speak at this event.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this serious matter.

Sincerely,
Rick Santorum
United States Senate

Again the Date ......2006......... A Council on Foreign Relations Invitation. Did Canada miss out on the invite list ? This was discussed
politically since 2006 and it is only six years later in the works. The 8 month old bombing well plants can be placed anywhere for convenience of a larger picture. Opening a door to install the system of fear that United States lives with sadly as Canada is adopting
but we still have to pay that extra fee to cross the border. What year was that again when Lucien Boowhoo I want to seperate held hostage CF 18's ready to go to war against the rest of Canada that one did not make main stream news either now did it. He was trying to excercise his builderberg buddy system then? I hope as the threat made back that this was not a smart move from Canada on Iran News is not that door. There is a known young man who has given up his freedom in Canada has left his young Canadian girlfriend to go to his homeland Israel to fight if need be. He left Canada almost a year ago now and took a Canadian Flag with him.

Also is the evidence as conclusive that Iran is responsible for the carnage as the evidence that Israel is responsible for bombing Beirut and Gaza, the US bombed Baghdad and Fallujah and Russia bombed Grozny?
There's that awesome double standard, lmao!!!

Anecdotes about Israeli acts = Conclusive.

Evidence about Muslim acts = Inconclusive.
