Except people ARE denying it. They say it's 'weather'. It's why there's always such a damned argument over whether it's even happening.
In the end, it shouldn't matter if humans are adding to it to the extent people think or not. It's going on, it's changing and while I agree there are likely some companies who are out to profit off of it (like most companies), there are also others who likely aren't, who truly DO want to help make things better. Problem is they're lumped in with all the other asshole companies and thus all their efforts are seen as money grabbing and rejected.
Sure we're changing, just not enough to meet what could be possible. Considering this has been going on for years, all the warnings, no one's running around like chicken little, but rather people have been warning the fox was approaching the hen house, stalking the hen house, digging under the fence to the hen house and the dumbass farmer didn't pay attention. Now the fox is almost in and instead of being pissed at himself, the farmer is blaming the dog for not alerting him earlier when he could have done something about it BEFORE things got serious.
The other problem is that there IS no magic solution, and most people would say there isn't. But there are things we can TRY that aren't being tried, because again it's seen as money grabbing and then rejected.
I cut my lawn as little as possible and then when it is cut, I leave it fairly tall compared to the 'need to be golf green' short most people think it should be. I STOP cutting the lawn in September. I don't START cutting until June (depending on weather) which doesn't just give grass the time to grow, but gives the 'weeds' - dandelions - a chance to really pop up and help with the bees and other insects.
I don't use fertilizers or growers or any other enhancers.
My dad is one of those 'my lawn needs to be near perfect' kind of guys. No dandelions, no weeds, gives it growers sometimes...
Hell, part of my 'lawn' isn't lawn, but crud moss and forest undergrowth and one patch is all wild from being left after trying for a garden.
My point is though, overall, WHY can't we take care of the planet we have and push to invent things that will help protect our environment as much as possible? Why is it such a fight to do that? Coal is dirty, Oil is finite and not all that great either... yet pushing for other tech always meets resistance. Expensive? Sure, it will be - at first. Everything usually is. Then it goes down. But it won't go down if we don't even use it because of fear from the older 'we won't change' companies who don't give a shit about the world, just their profit margins.
They say that our preoccupation with lawns and gardens harken back to the talus slopes in front of the caves that we lived in for hundreds of thousands of years in Eurasia. We're hard wired to do dumb things like trying to achieve the perfect lawn.

Anyway, mine in a lot nicer than Barney's.

Great , how does giving more of our hard earned money to government general revenue change anything ? How do we reduce our collective emissions to 1990 levels when we are actively trying to grow our population?
More to the point- how does Canadian taxpyers borrowing billions to give to third world countries help fight climate change? And how does suzuki and gore jetting around the world cut GHG?

You're right, it doesn't do a thing to fight climate change. The intent is to get billions to third world nations under the guise of fighting climate change. The countries receiving the funds can use them as they see fit.

It's definetly not about pulling them up. It's keeping a foot on the head of a drowning person.

With energy use taboo, they'll never be able to industrialize.

POOR FOOLISH SERRYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just do not understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals are ENTITLED to live as they please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meaning they are ENTITLED to have any size carbon foot print they DESIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And they DESIRE A LARGE CARBON FOOT PRINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because flying to Bahamas for golf is FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because driving to St. Jacobs in your SUV with the air conditioner running in warm weather to do some "antiquing" and then have a meal in some nice patisserie is ENJOYABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Owning a second home in the scenic countryside is pleasing but driving to it often is a drag due to heavy traffic and over crowded roads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But LIE-berals have decided they are ENTITLED to FORCE ordinary people out of their cars ..................so LIE-berals can enjoy happy motoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it is a LOT of work to run up the kind of insane debts LIE-berals have done for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it requires a LOT of hard thinking to come up with ever more clever ways of discreetly BUYING VOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So LIE-berals are working hard at clinging to power at ANY PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And surely they are entitled to FOUL the environment with some fun down time time bombing around on seadoos or atv`s??????????

And surely YOU wont mind altering YOUR Modest LIFE to make room for giant LIE-beral sized carbon foot prints????????????????????????

LIE-berals think it is their JOB to screw with our lives so the environment will be saved...........but it is NO FAULT OF THEIRS - so they believe that the price of their entitlements is the ruination of our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just so that LIE-berals can CONTINUE BLOWING carbon as often as they wish as they enjoy their gravy train life of wealth and ENTITLEMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The LIE-beral carbon crap and trade tax is a COLOSSAL LIE-beral SCAM designed ONLY to grab more gravy for the ALREADY OVER PRIVILEGED among us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canada's population is 30 million, anything our insignificant population does to combat Climate Change is a joke and a waste of money.

The USA, China and India and Europe with billions in population, need to make the changes.. that is where the population is.. this is what will make changes..

Trudeau is a joke, an idiot.. eh but he has nice hair.

Edmonton to boast Canada’s largest fleet of electric buses

"These buses are obviously going to be fantastic for the environment, but they're also going to save us money on the operating side of things too," Councillor Andrew Knack said.
"When we were debating this a few years ago, we had some really detailed business cases that showed while the bus costs a little bit more up front, the actual operating cost of this is far less than our standard buses. How do you go wrong in a situation where you're getting better value for money overall and we're helping achieve our environmental objectives that we're working on as a city?"

The buses being purchased from Proterra cost about $1.2 million each — double the cost of your average diesel bus. But there are other savings down the road.
"Each bus that we replace, it's 40 per cent less GHGs (greenhouse gases) that go into the atmosphere. That is one huge benefit," said ETS branch manager Eddie Robar.
"Moving into what this does on the maintenance side of our fleet — the maintenance cost of an electric bus versus a diesel bus — it's about 30 per cent cheaper."

Over time those savings will allow the Edmonton Transit Service to invest in new and additional services, without raising costs to the taxpayer or riders.

The city will be building a new transit garage thanks to provincial funding through Alberta Community Transit (ACT). That garage will be designed for both diesel and electric buses, to aid in the conversion of the fleet over time.

Will the buses be worn out by the time they pay for themselves, twice the price, need electricity for charging, a new barn to store them in, for a projected 30% maintenance savings, interesting

Canada is warming at twice the global rate, report says

http://www.cnn.com/2019/04/01/health/canada-global-warming/index.html

Better get that ish under control up there eh?

*snicker*
Less than 1/2 of 1% of the global population lives in Canada, which makes up about 6% of the global land mass in an arctic climate, and is contributing about 1.6% of global emissions...and most of the country is wilderness or farmland (carbon sinks of crops or forests or tundra). Who do Canada's "climate scientists" answer to for funding? The timing of this epiphany is interesting at best.

The only country on Earth of a comparable size vs population with similiar climate to compare Canada against would be Russia. That's it. The global rate (however it's measured, usually on a population vs landmass ratio type bias without factoring in climate) is relevant to Canada in an "Apples to Apples & not Apples to Oranges" comparison how??

I am, and have been using sarcasm throughout this thread. I am just pointing out the Liberal smugness when it comes to climate change talk vs climate change action.

The same happens here. California is solid blue and liberal and leaders in the fight against climate change. Well, they talk a good game but they are the 3rd largest producer of fossil fuels in the nation, their new Democrat Governor just squashed their HS Rail, they have oil wells pumping in downtown Los Angeles.

....and you almost never hear about their oil sands, yet they knock Alberta's? It's a weird world.

They want to separate from your sorry Union. It sounds like you'll be happy to see them go.

Texas will follow.

To what extent?

Well, for anybody that thinks "Shoot, they ain't but a little tiny bit, so what harm can it do?" I suggest taking a dose of one gram of arsenic. Ain't but a little tiny bit, so what harm can it do?

Listened to a radio interview the other day with Michael Mann .He was supposed to be debating Patrick Moore on climate change but the radio station apparently couldn’t connect Dr.Moore hence the interview . So Michael Mann was asked about climate change , his answer was that Trump and Republicans were Luddites , and that everyone knows man made climate change was real . Why else would researchers study climate change if there wasn’t a problem.
Later Patrick Moore came on , after explaining his past relationship with Greenpeace he answered some global warming type questions . He stated why and where he found the climate science claims as wrong or not devastating . He didn’t spend his time trashing others he simply stated why he thought them wrong .
I went away from those two interviews thinking Michael Mann was campaigning against republicans and Dr. Moore has more scientific credibility.
