The Supreme Court of Canada last week decided that air guns will be categorized as firearms in all cases but licensing and registration, where previously the guns were only given the classification when used in some offensive of unlawful purpose, the Canadian National Firearms Association announced.

Because of the new classification, air guns will now be considered in concealed weapons cases, regardless of whether the owner is committing an offense.

That is not unreasonable. I have a Sheridan air pistol/rifle that will put a 22 cal. pellet through a one inch pine board. This is not a CO2 gun. You have to pump it up.

Only in Canada can Daisy become a bad word....

they ain't our Daisy or our grandfather's Daisy no more, them and Air Soft look pretty convincing to a bank teller, 7-11, cab driver or even a cop...I dunno...maybe that's the angle...then again, point a cell phone at a cop in the dark and you might end up shot or tased anyway.

The only gun that's worth a dam to me, is the one I carry on me every darn place I go..

My Smith & Wesson 9mm

I'm naked without my 9mm, iPhone and Wallet..

not to mention the gun in the kitchen drawer and bedroom...

I have to ask how this changes things. As far as I can tell, I will still be able to buy low power air guns from canadian tire without producing a PAL. And, the high powered airguns won't require registration when I show my PAL.

The only difference is now, I will have to treat all air guns like the high power ones.

Furthermore, since when does the Supreme Court decision create a new law? Sure they have the power to uphold an existing law, or strike it down, but the person that claims that they created a new law needs to give their head a shake.
