The problem is not that we admitted all these groups here, the problem is we as the Canadian national
identity did not set out and lay down the rules by which we admitted newcomers. This should not happen?
Of course it should have in the beginning. Think about it this way if you were a home owner and you lived
in a quiet neighbourhood with your family. Either by people moving around or through war or upheaval
we allowed others to move into the neighbourhood and finally into your house. If you were letting them
live in the house, you would establish rules to live by as it is your house.
On the other hand once you adopted them as part of the family, that becomes a different matter. What
we might have done was allow some to come and live here, but not allow citizenship. The other
solution was to let them become members of the Canadian Family and throw the rule books out the window.
We have done that and at some point we may or may not live to regret it. I don't know if it has completely
failed in Canada but it has created some serious difficulties that will have to be dealt with at some future
point. Remember though, we gave everyone family status.

You could make the same claim in Canada using the Christian Heritage Front, a nut case right wing party that has so little support it no longer contests elections.

There are a lot of second generation asians in Vancouver that can't speak English and don't care. Mostly they just take advantage of our free social system. Parts of Vancouver even have street signs in Chinese and parts of Richmond are Asia West.

Somehow, Taxslave, I believe that's just a bunch of racist crap. ALL the Chinese I've met, some first, some second generation, know how to speak English. Some well, some not so well. You're right though, they don't care. Why should they.

The first generation is not much taken by our 'culture', and are content to live in enclaves, and work like hell so their sons and daughters don't have to..................they ( S & D's) become doctors, lawyers, engineers, upstanding Canadian citizens who pay taxes and send THEIR sons and daughters to university.

Third gens. are mostly as whiny and petulant as us...................true Canuks.............the 'me' generation.

Really don't think we have much to fear from Chinese immigrants, "terrist wise, eh".
