MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Members of the Islamic State (ISIL, also known as Daesh) and the Jabhat Fatah al Sham (also known as Jabhat al-Nusra, or al-Nusra Front) radical groups have shelled cities in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Damascus and Homs, the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeymim airbase said in a statement.

"The formations of terrorist organizations Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS [Daesh] continue to hinder the establishment of the ceasefire regime [in Syria]," the statement, published by the Russian Defense Ministry, says.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is holding talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is holding talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Syria is the main topic of the Wednesday talks. The meeting is the second between Lavrov and Kerry on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly. On Tuesday, Lavrov and Kerry had a short bilateral discussion ahead of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) meeting.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier confirmed to RIA Novosti on Wednesday that the next ISSG meeting would be held on Thursday.

On Tuesday, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said after a meeting of the ISSG on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York that the group would reconvene on Friday. On September 9, Lavrov and Kerry presented a new plan to regulate the conflict in Syria, which included a new ceasefire that came into force on September 12.

Who are the White Helmets? This is a question that everyone should be asking themselves.
A hideous murder of a rising star in UK politics, Jo Cox MP, has just sent shock waves across the world. Within hours of her death, a special fund was established in her name to raise money for 3 causes. One of those causes is the Syrian White Helmets.
Are we seeing a cynical and obscene exploitation of Jo Cox’s murder to revive the flagging credibility of a US State Department & UK Foreign Office asset on the ground in Syria, created and sustained as first responders for the US and NATO Al Nusra/Al Qaeda forces?

WHO ARE SYRIA’S WHITE HELMETS?

(in part)

‘White Helmets’ — pawns for U.S. militarism

The dangerous U.S. military escalation of its 5-year war to overturn Syria’s government can be seen in the Sept. 17 bombing, which killed 62 Syrian Army soldiers and aided the position of the Islamic State group. The attack sabotaged a U.S.-Russian brokered ceasefire and led Russia to call for an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting.
At the same time, there has been a heavy barrage of U.S. war propaganda. “White Helmets,” a new film, is part of the sophisticated disinformation campaign.
War propaganda is always more insidious on the home front, but it is an essential ingredient of imperialist wars. Charging the enemy with genocide, baby killing, mass rapes, mass graves and weapons of mass destruction have all been debunked after a U.S. war. But they saturate the media before a war and seem indisputable.
Samantha Powers, U.S. ambassador to the U.N., has denounced both Russia and Syria. She labels U.S. wars “humanitarian interventions,” and has used unsubstantiated war propaganda to justify wars in West Asia, North Africa and the Balkans that have decimated countries, killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions.

As the US heaps blame and accusations on Russia and Syria for the alleged air strike on the aid convoy on Monday 19thSeptember, as ever there are more questions than answers - and whatever US spokespersons state, absolutely no certainties.
The only undeniable fact is that another tragedy killed at least twenty Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers and the organisation’s local Director Omar Barakat, father of nine. At least eighteen of the thirty one-truck convoy were destroyed with the warehouse where humanitarian aid was stored.
The Russian Defence Ministry has categorically denied any attack and claims the convoy caught fire (1):
We have studied video footage from the scene from so-called ‘activists’ in detail and did not find any evidence that the convoy had been struck by ordnance”, commented Igor Konashenkov, a Ministry spokesman.
There are no craters and the exterior of the vehicles do not have the kind of damage consistent with blasts caused by bombs dropped from the air.” His observations are hard to challenge, anyone who has studied the assaults of the “international community” on far away countries over the last decades knows what a bombed truck looks like - what fragments remains of it.
Photographs of the affected lorries show burned out vehicles, metal skeleton intact.
Konashenkov said that damage visible in footage was instead the result of cargo igniting - “oddly” occurring at the same time as militants (formerly Nusra Front) had started a big offensive in nearby Aleppo, backed by tanks, artillery and other heavy equipment.
He added: “Only representatives of the ‘White Helmets’ organization close to the Nusra Front who, as always, found themselves at the right time in the right place by chance with their video cameras can answer who did this and why.”
Indeed the ‘White Helmets’ boasted in a video of being on the scene within “moments.”
The “White Helmets” who have had the gall to entitle themselves the Syrian Civil Defence Force are seemingly neither Syrian, nor Civil, nor Defence. Vanessa Beeley who has meticulously charted their antics points out (2) “This is an alleged ‘non-governmental’ organization … that so far has received funding from at least three major NATO governments, including $23 million from the US Government and $29 million (£19.7 million) from the UK Government, $4.5 million (€4 million) from the Dutch Government. In addition, it receives material assistance and training funded and run by a variety of other EU Nations.”

Aleppo/Moscow, SANA – A military source refuted the reports circulated by malicious media outlets about the Syrian Arab Army targeting a humanitarian aid convoy in Aleppo countryside.
The source told SANA that there’s no truth to the rumors circulated during the past few hours by some media outlets about the Syrian Arab Army targeting a humanitarian aid convoy in Orkem village in Aleppo’s northern countryside.
Russian Defense Ministry: Russian and Syrian air forces did not target any humanitarian aid convoys in Aleppo
Spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov asserted that neither the Russian Aerospace Forces nor the Syrian Air Force targeted any UN humanitarian aid convoys southwest of Aleppo.
Konashenkov stressed that video recordings don’t show any indication that the humanitarian convoy in question was hit by shells.
He also said that terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra carried out a massive attack with heavy support from artillery and rocket launchers in the direction of where the convoy was on Monday at 19:00 Moscow time, adding that the Ministry studied carefully the video published by so-called “activisits” and it showed no sign of any of the convoy’s trucks being hit by military-grade munitions, nor were any craters or signs of damage to the trucks’ structures visible as would be the case had they been struck by air-to-surface explosives.

Deir ez-Zor bombings: What is US’ actual goal in Syria?

By Christina Lin on September 20, 2016 in Asia Times News & Features, Middle East
Mother Agnes Mariam, a nominee for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize from Homs diocese, has some harsh words for the US war against Syria: “Shame on a coalition who pretends fighting ISIS while in reality is helping ISIS killing innocent soldiers whose mission is to protect civilians.”
This is in response to the September 17 US airstrikes in Deir ez-Zor that massacred 62 Syrian soldiers and injured 100 more who have been fighting ISIS.[1] According to a June 2015 Time magazine article, Deir ez-Zor with a population of 228,000 has been under siege by ISIS the past years, relying on the nightly arrival of a large Syrian air-force-operated cargo plane which has a payload of more than 46 tons and transports munitions, food and medical supplies.

This much needed aid is flown out from the military air base southeast of the city, the target of ISIS the past years and now bombed by US jet fighters. During the bombing, ISIS launched a simultaneous attack and threatened to overrun the air base as well as slaughter the over 200,000 civilians. Deir ez-Zor is also home to a large Christian population protected by the Syrian government, similar to most other Christian inhabited cities that are in government-controlled areas along the coast.

However, the Syrian army was able to repel the ISIS offensive and recover lost territory after the US “mistaken” attacks, but the incident has again left many wondering whether US goal is really to counter terrorism or to conduct regime change in Syria.
Meanwhile, the Syrian people continue to face prolonged agony and suffering as regional and great powers use them as pawns for their geopolitical ambitions.

Did the UN Just Admit That Russia Isn't Responsible For Attack on Syria Aid Convoy?

Iran Was Too Smart to Count on the US-Russia Syria Deal to Work

The US War Against the Syrian State Is Not a 'Pipeline War' -- It's Much Worse

The Show-Down Over the Damaged Aid Convoy in West Aleppo Is Reaching Comedy Levels
The show-down over the damaged aid convoy west of Aleppo is reaching comedy level.
The UN/SRC convoy came from the government held west-Aleppo. It had reached a Syrian Red Crescent center in Umm al Kubra in the "rebel" held area further west where it started to unload. Something happened and many of the trucks burned or where otherwise damaged. Allegedly some 20 people were killed. The incident happened shortly after the ceasefire had officially expired. U.S. sponsored "White Helmet" propaganda teams where there when or shortly after the incident happened.
Here are various claims that were made about the incident (I am time restricted and will for now not provide links for each of these):

The U.S. and its allies claim that the convoy was bombed in an air attack. The Russians deny that they or the Syrians executed any such attack.
The "rebels" had various version. Syrian jets AND helicopters did it; "Barrel bombs" were used; a sustained attack over hours ...
U.S. Secretary of State first claimed that the Syrian did it, than that the Russians did it; helicopters had attacked. The Pentagon then came up with two Russian SU-24 fixed wing aircraft as the culprits. But the U.S. then claimed that the attack went on over two hours which is longer than a pair of SU-24 could sustain.
The Russians said neither they nor the Syrians attacked. They alleged that "rebels" attacked the convoy; that there had been no bombs, only damage from fire.
The pictures of some trucks show damage that is mostly from fire, but there also seem to have been some explosions and shrapnel impacts though no big direct hits. For me that leaves both possibilities open - an air or artillery attack or a simple local sabotage operation.

Hitting aid convoys and friendly fire incidents?? I agree, those are specialties of the US and her Allies, Russia just puts the word out and that is the only reason you hear about it in the US. Let to you ot was 6 months before Canada bombing allies was brought into the light of the day. Low-life is one of the kinder terms for that kind of behavior.

For it being a quagmire the US is sure hot to take over for Russia and Syria. This vid shows how truly demented the US is.

Notice that this doesn't come with any apology.

(in part)
4:12 PM EDT- 21 September 2016 -- A Russian military vessel in the coastal waters off of Syria, targeted and destroyed a "foreign operations center" killing several American, Israeli, and Turkish Military officers. "Russian warships fired Kaliber rockets onto the command posts of the terrorists in western Aleppo, where Turkish, Saudi, Israeli, UK, and US officers are deployed to aid their operations," Sputnik News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Been reading in other places online that US Special Forces are embedded with terrorist groups in Syria. This is beyond horrible!
The Russian warships stationed in Syria's coastal waters targeted and destroyed a foreign military operations room, killing over two dozen Israeli and western intelligence officers.
"The Russian warships fired three Kaliber missiles at the foreign officers' coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region in the Western part of Aleppo near Sam'an mountain, killing 30 Israeli and western officers," the Arabic-language service of Russia's Sputnik news agency quoted battlefield source in Aleppo as saying on Wednesday.
The operations room was located in the Western part of Aleppo province in the middle of sky-high Sam'an mountain and old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains.
Several US, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari and British officers were also killed along with the Israeli officers. The foreign officers who were killed in the Aleppo operations room were directing the terrorists' attacks in Aleppo and Idlib.
Earlier in September, the Syrian army units launched a preemptive strike on the terrorists of the so-called Aleppo Operations Room in their gathering centers near Castello road in the Northern areas of Aleppo and Mallah farms, foiling their plots to attack the region's supply route, a source said.
The source said that the army's artillery units attacked the terrorists' gathering centers near Castello and Mallah farms in Zahra Abdo Rabbah, Kafar Hamra and Hurayatyn which killed and wounded dozens of militants.

Missiles rained down on rebel-held areas of Syria's Aleppo on Friday, causing widespread destruction that overwhelmed rescue teams, as the army prepared a ground offensive to retake the city.
Nearly 30 civilians including several children were killed and dozens wounded in the raids by Russian warplanes and regime aircraft, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said.
The intensity of the bombardment, which included artillery barrages and barrel bombings by helicopters, brought new misery to the estimated 250,000 civilians besieged by the army.
The escalation came after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry failed to reach an agreement with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on terms to salvage a failed ceasefire.
Asked by reporters at the United Nations whether the truce could be reinstated, Lavrov simply said: "You should ask the Americans."
A U.S. official told AFP that no Kerry-Lavrov meeting had yet been scheduled for Friday, "but that could change."
An AFP journalist in rebel-held east Aleppo reported relentless air raids and artillery fire overnight and Friday morning.
Missiles Batter Aleppo as Syria Army Readies Ground Assault — Naharnet

Almost 48 hours after a deadly attack on an aid convoy in Syria that killed about 20 civilians, Russia still furiously denies its jets or Syrian regime planes were responsible.
Here is what we know about Monday's attack that forced the U.N. to suspend its aid deliveries inside the war-torn country:
- What happened? -
Trucks carrying food and medical equipment from the United Nations and other agencies were unloading aid into a warehouse in Orum al-Kubra, a town in Aleppo province.
Jens Laerke, a spokesman for the U.N. humanitarian agency (OCHA) in Geneva, said: "Every single partner or party to the conflict" was informed in advance about the delivery.
According to the Red Cross, the first report that the trucks and warehouse had been hit came at 8:15 pm (1715 GMT), several hours after the Syrian army had declared an end to a week-long partial ceasefire.
It said "around 20 civilians" had been killed, among them volunteers, as well as Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) staffer Omar Barakat.
Pictures of the convoy published on Twitter by SARC showed several of the trucks draped with blue flags from UNICEF, the U.N. children's agency.

Destroyed Aid Convoy in Syria: What We Know — Naharnet

(in part)
The U.N. said Friday it was considering a different route to send desperately needed aid to east Aleppo, to circumvent the blocked main supply route as new air raids pounded Syria's second city.
"We are trying to see by all means available how we can reach east Aleppo," Jens Laerke, spokesman for the U.N. humanitarian agency OCHA, told reporters in Geneva.
He said the lack of access to the estimated 250,000 residents of rebel-held east Aleppo amid renewed air strikes and fighting was "tragic."
The U.N. had hoped to send aid from Turkey and along the key Castello Road into east Aleppo, militarily encircled since early July.
As part of the now broken ceasefire pact agreed between the U.S. and Russia, the U.N. had expected assurances that the Castello Road would be clear and safe.
But those assurances have not come, and the Syrian army has announced a new offensive aimed at retaking all of the divided second city, with Syrian and Russian aircraft pounding the area on Friday.
"What has been happening in Aleppo is not a situation where you can confidently say, yes we can confidently drive a humanitarian aid convoy into that carnage," Laerke said, describing the situation as "grim."

Commenting on the push of US Secretary of State John Kerry to introduce a no-fly zone for Russian and Syrian aviation in Syria, Iranian President explained why the idea has little sense for the improvement situation on the ground, while former British diplomat and MI6 agent Alastair Crooke suggested what might be a real purpose behind it.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that a no-fly zone in Syria will serve to only strengthen foreign-sponsored terrorists in Syria.

"A no-fly zone (in Syria) will benefit terrorists, who have everything expect for military aircraft," Al-Masdar News quoted Rouhani as saying during a presser after his speech at the 71st United Nations General Assembly session in New York on Thursday,. "They have mortar shells, tanks, missiles and armored personnel carriers. They have cannons and artillery batteries but no warplanes. The creation of a no-fly zone is not the right step. This is an ill-advised suggestion," the Iranian president added. This view was echoed by Alastair Crooke, who is also the founder and director of the Conflicts Forum, an organization that advocates for engagement between political Islam and the West.
