 All in fun, Colpy, all in fun.

When you think of the Legion's stand at Dien Bien Phu, and the actions of the French resistance during the WW2, operating under promise of sure torture and death if caught, it makes one wonder if the association between France and surrender is not really terribly valid.

A soldier can't help it if the generals and the politicians are assholes, eh!

But,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"BONER"......... gimme a break!!

:cool:c'est le guerre, n'est pas?

Now. If only Bono and Geldof would go home, and stay there.

Why do the French plant trees along their roads? So the Germans can march in the shade. Bloody Bono.

Yes they are a pain in the butt aren't they...

Yes they are. I get tired of over the hill rock people telling others how to live and telling governments how to spend other people's tax dollars.

Absolutely just in fun. The French capitulated in WWII way too easily, but in WWI they suffered a higher proportion of casualties than any other army.........and they held Verdun in the face of months of attacks, which cost the deaths of three quarters of a million men........

The French had 11% of their total population killed or wounded in WW I.

The French Empire fielded 7,500,000 troops. About 1,385,000 were killed, and 4,266,000 wounded for a casualty rate of 75%, higher than any other army. To compare, when the Germans finally threw in the towel, their casualty rate was 54%.

As well, French Canadians throughout the history of North america, have proven to be tenacious fighters.............better than just about anyone else.

As long as I'm in historical mode......did you know the Legion at Dien Bien Phu was almost 60% Germans, most of whom were SS in WW II?

Almost nice to see those boys whipped by an "inferior" race, what?
