No the last goal was the result of a desperation move made after the fat was already in the fire.

No the last goal was a skating match up with well over a minute to go.

with a one goal deficit you have to get to that puck....the American wanted it more.

Highlight of the game and a continuation of the chuckle fest the hosers were having on the bench when they almost lost to the Swiss...again.

Pathetic.

Skate these f*ckers hard tomorrow...no pucks.

Had a bit of a dilemma tonight, living room had husband
and grandsons watching hockey with me, some of the time,
daughter was by herself in the family room watching ice
dancing, so I spent most of the time with her, and poked
my nose in to watch hockey during commercials.

What I did see, was Brodeur doing some wierd things on
first two goals, and Miller playing lights out.
I wonder if they know what goalie to play next game, if
they give me a call I will tell them.

Scoring chances matter to me much more than shots on goal,
and I don't really know the answer to that one tonight.

I don't think Thornton is playing all that great, reminds
me of 'how' he plays in the playoffs, takes too much time
to make decisions some of the time, and is OK most of the
time.

Having to play an extra game can be good for the team,
so I will tell you if I'm right on that one at the end
of the tournament, but I do think it's better for them
to play tuesday, than sit around not playing for four
days, so this could be a blessing in disguise.

Ice dancing was great, our couple is sitting in first place
with one more dance to go.

I'm off to the olympics tomorrow, see you all tuesday.

"Brodeur was off tonight. Still a great , entertaining game."

Ah, I was on another thread wondering where there was a discussion of the game, today. Indeed, it was a heck of a match. Goalie Miller had a great game - for some reason, in order for the USA to win whether at hockey or soccer, we always have to have great goal tending. Luckily we got it today but it must have been very exhausting. Hopefully, we can go forward and win a medal!

Canada has Germany in the next match and they are ranked at # 11 as hockey is not a top priority sport there. Should be an easy win.

Don't watch pro hockey any more so the names in each lineup are totally unfamiliar to me. If we could have games like this and have no fights it would be a great sport to watch. Heck, I may even be inclined to watch NHL again!

Isn't amazing how these games are the 'best' with no fights,
just proves that the fighting is just to draw more crowds,
who come to watch for them.
Playoffs won't have any fighting either, too costly to the
teams.
No team will win without great goaltending, they all need it.

Actually Talloola (I did watch about 55 minutes of the game), I don't recall even being aware of Thornton or giving him any thought. Did he play?

I think I would have changed the goaltender after the second goal they scored on us. Brodeur (sp)did not always look sharp. The first goal was a soft one that I think Luongo would have stopped.
I thought the team played alright but they had to contend with a hot goaltender that they didn't seem to figure out.
Would put Luongo in for the next game against Germany.
When they were still putting the team together they bent over backwards to have Getzlaf and I don't know why. Both he and Pronger were a bit of a liability.

"Calling someone brain dead? Over a difference of opinion? Or worse, semantics? That's poor form ~Tonington on Feb 21st, 2010 "

You're right, just a knee jerk reaction to several remarks of a similar tone. LOL

Is Canada now rethinking the meaning of life?

More practice guys.

Excellent game between the U.S. and Canada.

I think you should check the standings and see where your lowly habs are in relation to the Sens...

I am quite aware of where the greatest team in the sport stands my friend. As the infamous Patrick Roy said....I can't hear you with the stanely cup rings in my ears.

So teams don't score in the last 45 seconds?

News to me, you're one of those guys that leaves early in a game like that because you're worried about traffic instead of the hockey.

They Americans also dominated in the circle and didn't take dumb undisciplined penalties....we outplayed them?

Poppycock!

Perhaps you should walk away before you get embarrassed any further.
