Well, of course "what should have happened" should have happened decades ago. And any corrective measures they take now will probably take years to filter down to the street knowledge level.

But the single thing that could most serve to calm people down would be for a city official to acknowledge the history of rough riding, say that this case is being investigated as an instance of rough riding, and promise charges if that proves to be the case.

Of course, if they do that, the police, in high dudgeon that someone dares question them, will stop enforcing the law, just like in New York.

So, the usual. Community policing, conflict de-escalation training, rationalizing and coordinating the city, state, and Federal welfare systems. All the stuff that isn't going to happen, because first and foremost the police and the mayor and the governor are not going to admit that roughriding is a standard Baltimore PD tactic.
she looked like a deer in the headlights last night, she was okay with her statement but then the questions began and she did not speak well partially I think because what she had said earlier had been taken out of context so she is angry and scared, who wouldn't be

she also maligned the press

it's a mess

She gave them room to destroy. Her words... not the medias.

"It's a very delicate balancing act, because, while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well. "And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to deescalate, and that's what you saw."

She seemed pretty clear. Even qualified it by saying it was hard to keep that balance.

Only in your mind.

So, if you're so smart, what's your solution?

I already know, but I'm curious to see if you do, or if you'll acknowledge it.
I would think a peaceful protester would wear their own body cam to any decent protest, I'm also thinking having it sent to a server away from the person would also be a good idea.

RIDF themselves so tracking them would make putting all the recordings in sync would be easy. You could also track any person after the event if the area has full coverage.

this issue seems in dire need of a sacrificial lamb..

..like a black cop killing an unarmed white guy and nobody rioting about it..

fvck it

it's every man for himself

Just love the footage I just saw on the idiot box of the mother chasing after her delinquent kid until she caught up to him and more or less boxed his ears in front of the whole wide world. Kudos to that woman! :)

it isn't clear and that was the problem, she misspoke

what she was saying could have been corrected with a simple word..."unfortunately" that's the only extra word she needed in there to be clear:

"It's a very delicate balancing act, because, while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, unfortunately, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.

see how that changes the whole meaning from one thing to another and that is what she meant

That absolutely changes the whole meaning. As we all know that is not what she said and I am not entirely convinced she meant anything other than what she said UNTIL the thugs went wild. I think she was pandering.

well if she was pandering it wasn't very well done....it is going to cost them millions and that nursing home that was destroyed was being built by the Baptist church in the community, so hopefully someone will step forward and replace it...they send billions out in foreign aid so this needs to be made right

she speaks well when prepared, on the fly, she is not a good speaker and does not respond well to the media, at least that is my opinion after watching her last night with a mic shoved in her face
