Question: Is the aid a freebie? Humanitarian? For Social structuring? Industrial? A loan? A partially forgivable loan? A trade?

Aid has many forms.

Going by price tags alone can be misleading.

Do you doubt the laws against treason exist?
I already knew you were just babbling, you didn't have to confirm it.

Yup. I'm more charitable than that. I may pick my charities, but once I do I don't give and then threaten.
I have, that why I no longer donate to charities I once did.

The threat is that if Canada, the US and Israel end the cash train, Abbas would have to pay for security/mercenaries out of his own pocket. If he can't pay the bill, then most likely he'd have to flee Ramallah. The resulting power vacuum would likely benefit Hamas and other militant groups.

Most likely Baird will not carry out his threat to cut Palestinian aid. Abbas can rely on continued Canadian tax dollars while Harper continues to unshakably support Palestinian oppression and injustice.
Is this the same Abbas, whose gov't you believe without question?

No that would Abbas dictatorship, which is self serving and corrupt. the same government the Palestinians voted out in the last election, but clings to power by military force and support from Israel. Abbas is the same leader the Harper government supports with Canadian tax dollars to rent his mercenaries and thugs so that ordinary Palestinians can't shoot the bastard.

I am against my tax dollars being spent to support an unpopular corrupt dictator under the guise of aiding Palestinians.

I'd rather my tax dollars went to UNRWA, which would actually benefit ordinary Palestinian refugees that suffer oppression and injustice.

Would you support a corrupt but popular Dictator?

EAO loves dictators, he gets most of his Nazi-esque Jew demonizing propaganda from them and their respective ministries/agencies.

He is without a doubt, one of their greatest assets.

If he is one of there greatest assets they set the bar quite low. Perhaps they should hire a good HR President.

I disagree.

EAO does an excellent job of ignoring facts, evidence and anything that casts a doubt on the Nazi-esque Jew demonizing propaganda he posts.

I mean seriously, Abbas and his gov't tells the world that Jaradat was murdered by torture at the hands of the Jews, and EAO requires no other proof but one news article.

But here we see him calling Abbas and his gov't corrupt.

I think EAO is the absolute best at his job. He puts Goebbles to shame.

And to be honest, I really don't think EAO gives a rats *** about Palestinians. I think they're just a weapon with which he can bludgeon Jews with.

Memo to Minister Kenney: Criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitism
By Judy Rebick and Alan Sears
March 1, 2009

As Israeli Apartheid Week gets underway, there is a major campaign currently underway to deny freedom of expression on campus to those in solidarity with Palestine on the basis of alleged anti-Semitism.

The Equity Office at Carleton University banned the Israeli Apartheid Week poster and the Provost issued a statement that threatened students with expulsion. B'nai Brith took out newspaper ads calling on University Presidents to "prevent Israeli apartheid week" in order to "take a stand against anti-Semitism on campus." This builds on a pattern established last year, when McMaster University banned the use of the term "Israeli apartheid" (eventually rescinding the ban) and the University of Toronto cancelled room bookings for a Palestine solidarity student conference.

The argument that criticism of Israel is inherently anti-Semitic rests on the notion that Israel is singled out for undue criticism because it is a Jewish state. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney used this logic when he said recently, "We do see the growth of a new anti-Semitism predicated on the notion that the Jews alone have no right to a homeland."

This statement is only legitimate if we completely ignore the situation of the Palestinians, the residents of the land Israel claimed as a "Jewish homeland." The recent assault on Gaza, in which more than 1,300 Palestinians were killed, including at least 346 children, is just the latest in an ongoing saga of displacement, occupation and dehumanization dating back to 1948. Critics of Israel are not singling it out for undue criticism, but merely holding it to the same standards as all other nations in such areas as respect for human rights and international law.

Defenders of Israeli policy routinely attempt to direct our attention to abuses happening in other places and insist that a hidden agenda must underlie any focus on Israeli brutality in this unjust world. This argument would lead to paralysis in human rights activism by claiming that one must address all cases at once, or only the "worst" cases. Should we have told Rosa Parks, who refused to go the back of a segregated bus in Alabama in 1955, to quit whining as conditions were even worse in South Africa, or colonized Kenya, or for that matter for Palestinians in refugee camps?

The deployment of anti-Semitism as an accusation to silence criticism of Israel is also a serious setback in genuine struggles against anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination. It is based on a claim that the State of Israel is the single outcome of the history of the Jewish people, the final end of generations of diasporic existence. It attempts to make the Zionist project of a Jewish nation the only legitimate project for all Jews.

This nationalist project has largely marginalized Jewish universalism, which argued that the future of a minority, diasporic community depended on winning widespread freedoms that applied to all members of society. That meant that in Canada, for example, the Jewish population was historically very active in struggles for a wide range of social rights and against the idea of Canada as a Christian nation.

Rabble?! Seriously?!

I personally tend to sympathize more with the Palestinian camp for various reasons, mainly since I tend to view Israel's claims to more land to be quite provocative. However, I'll also accept that palestinian violence against Israeli cililian targets does not in any way help the Palestinian cause. I support the Palestinian authority following the proper legal channels such as the UN, UNESCO, the World Court etc. but cannot support their more vioplent actions.

However, I don't see how quoting rabble helps your case. As per Rabble standards, I'm a neo-liberal colonislist! Heck, Bear would probably be a neo-liberal colonialist by their standards!

I do agree with the principle that criticism of Israel does not equate to antisemitism which is muddled thinking at best, but still, I'm sure you could find a more objective source than Rabble I hope.

The Nazis of our time

We don’t have the slightest doubt that the Israeli military-political establishment and those backing it politically, financially and militarily represent the Nazis of our time.

We know the word “Nazi” is a loaded term that shouldn’t be used arbitrarily to describe evil actions or evil people. We are also mindful of the fact that ascribing the “Nazi” epithet to Jews and Jewish behaviour is a tightly guarded taboo in many Western countries.

However, the truth must be told regarding what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. Indeed, when Jews, or anybody else, think, behave and act like Nazis, they become Nazis, which begs the question: Does Israel think, behave and act in a Nazi-like manner toward the helpless and unprotected Palestinians in the streets and hills of the West Bank and Gaza Strip?

You bet, it does!

Over the past few days and weeks, the Nazi nature of Israeli behaviour was amply conspicuous....

Nazi is a zionist word invention. It become popular with the writing of holocaust paper backs and holly-wood B movies. The crimes against humanity by zionists rank # in the all time world record. Sixty million in the Soviet Union for instance. They should pray the world never knows freedom.

I disagree DB.

Nazis existed and they committed horrific human rights abuses against Jews and other groups.Thankfully the bad days of Nazi domination of Europe are long gone. Jews and other groups no longer suffer Nazi oppression and injustice.

Today, some Zionists share similar characteristics with Nazis. They share a similar belief in a birthright to other people's property, superiority and a right to oppress perceived inferiors with ruthless cruelty.

Effectively Zionists are the new Nazis and Palestinians are the new Jews, from a human rights, oppression and injustice perspective.

The UN has already passed resolutions against Israel over this. What do you propose be the next step?

My main beef is with the Harper government.

Canada should be a force for international freedom and justice. But the Harper government has turned Canada into Israel's bitch. Canadians should elect governments that recognizes and upholds international laws and treaties, while imposing sanctions against all countries and individuals who commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.

I can agree with you in principle. However, if most Canadians support Haprer, then what can we do about it?

You could write a letter to the UN.

Well of course we mustn't forget the suffering Jews but we mustn't mention the literal mountain of others from the same times lest we loose sight of the squeaking molehill. NAZI was never a word used by Germans during the war. We were at war with fascist Germany and the Axis made up of millions of volunteers. NAZI is a catchier label for canned processed history . In this country, with it's present branch plant government, we will one day forget that Jeruselam was ever not the capital of the world, if the bankers and their mob win.
