Northern Ontario,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Goober for this thread since it kept all the atheists sparring here on this Holly weekend instead of shyting on every "Happy Easter" thread that popped-up;-)

Thank you Goober!!

Whatever.

This atheist has something called manners. I learned it for the great Athio. ;)
I use my manners to stay out of the religious forums and avoid preaching my atheism.
Now if the religious people could use the same manners and avoid invoking their religious beliefs in every thread then I might gain a bit more respect for them.

I agree and unless asked I consider religion to be a personal thing, which not everyone else cares to have rammed down their throats! Who the Hell do these people think they are to go knocking on doors every weekend? Presumptuous to say the least and delusional to think THEY have the answers above everyone else!

Ya, we get those as we have a Latter day saints college in town. I just don't answer the door.

I wasn't finger pointing anyone in particular

I also dislike Bible thumpers and Quran thumpers equally.
And I've noticed that in the last few years the J witnesses don't knock on my my door anymore....they just drop their fliers in the mail-box.
I've lived in this house 25 years and with the church only about 300 metres away and the priest has never been to my house...
go figure....

throughout the years, I have opened the door to dozens and dozens of religious peddlers, and I am not rude to them, (when they have children with them I feel that is child abuse),I explain to them that I am not interested in
what they are trying to say, then I usually have a chat about my gardens, weather and such, and they leave
happily, and they been treated politely, but I have never opneded my door and talked to an atheist, they never knocked.

why do religions have to peddle their stuff door to door, i've never understood that intrusion.

I don't appreciate door to door sales people, doesn't matter what they are trying to peddle.

I love Easter, and had a very good time yesterday with my daughter's and their families, complete with a big homecooked meal, chocolate etc., doesn't matter that I, and most of them are atheists, we mix together, love each other, and have fun during 'all' of the holiday celebrations, for our own reasons, doesn't have to be religious at all.

She'd hurt an old fart like me.
lol What a way to get injuries, though. :D

Doesn't bother us. They are people so we give them a coffee or tea, we all gab about whatever, they say their little religious spiel, give us literature, they leave, we throw the stuff in the recycle bin and carry on. If we are busy they just leave their lit. and move on.

Yep. There are some atheists who are a bit outspoken.
