Are you looking for proof that God exists?

Various life forms are capable of emotions but all life forms have varying degrees of consciousness. I think the biosphere of Earth is one huge living organism that has consciousness - Earth consciousness. We are such a small part of that biosphere and our consciousness is incapable of fathoming the magnitude of that Earth consciousness, but we are a part of it,the same way the consciousness of a blood molecule is part of our consciousness. Do we really think we can fathom the magnitude of the Universe's consciousness? Some religious types think they can. Can you say delusional, children? (say that last sentence with Mr. Rodger's voice)

Maybe we have to get past the concept that "thought" can only come from something in solid form.

Break everything down to the quantum level and there is no such thing as a sold form, just energy moving at different frequencies. Consciousness and thought are totally different things. In silence you are aware of yourself.

Not quite. Everything at the quantum level is particles, the wave aspect of things is a statistical property of an ensemble of particles, not of individual particles.

Thought is active, consciousness is passive. Consciousness doesn't do anything.

Some say thought is an activity of the ego, consciousness is the activity of the soul. the origin of inspiration, invention and art. (of course soul can be interpreted in many different ways, like our connection to the oneness of the Universe, for example).

Not quite. Everything at the quantum level is particles, the wave aspect of things is a statistical property of an ensemble of particles, not of individual particles.
What causes particles to move in a wave pattern? Without energy, nothing moves so nothing would exist.

Which wave has a bigger impact on mass, a light wave or a heat wave? (visible or infrared)

A vid some may or may not enjoy.

What is light if not energy. Same for heat - energy. Both rely on varying degrees of energy. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Nobody knows, it's just what's observed to happen, and there's a sure Nobel for the person who figures it out.

Depends what you mean by impact, and what elements the matter is made of. Visible light will knock electrons out of some things, infrared will warm things up, visible light may be absorbed and re-radiated as infrared, lots of things might happen.

And now, back to the topic and text. As much as I enjoy all the deep thought - quantum physics, various life forms, electrons, energy and the platypus - let's get back on course.

He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

I will add the following verse to ponder.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

I have found over the years many imagine they know Christ, but in reality they are blind. Oops! I just fell off the tightrope of political correctness. How dare I say that in this day and age of spiritual enlightenment that most are lost . I dare say it anyway for those whom the Holy Spirit may be leading to truth. They won't be as deaf as a ham. Their ears will open and their eyes will see.

Number one, that quote is absolute BS. A natural man is one in touch with nature, supposedly god's creation, is far more in touch with the spiritual nature of creation that any person living in the virtual reality of our artificial environments of cities and towns. Living in the virtual reality of modern civilization requires the need for an artificially constructed deity to keep people under control, because living in crowded conditions causes all kinds of psychosomatic reactions - crowded rat syndrome. Religion is a control mechanism necessary to keep people from total chaos, murder and mayhem. Spirituality is a natural flow, a feeling of connection to all that is.

Christianity is a religion, not a spiritual movement. It has a very narrow focus on Christ and thinks itself separate from the natural world, living in an ethereal world construct that is divorced from reality. As Mao said, "religion is the opiate of the masses". I can think of better drugs.

Cliffy, Can we open a discussion instead of closing it down by saying the quote is BS? Will you allow a hypothetical? What if, we by nature, are not able on our own to know God? What is the harm in pausing our current beliefs and asking that question? Why not pursue the thought that maybe we are not as spiritual as we think we are? What if there is a God to be revered? What if he has His own thoughts that are different than ours?

I do acknowledge that nature/life is God's creation. I have yet to be sold on the collision of intergalactic dust and pond scum to be the causation for life. I spend a great deal of time in nature with the trees and beasts - I love it. I admire it as God's handiwork and it gives me a deep appreciation and awe for our Creator. Living in a building didn't birth a need for me to construct a deity.

Remembering Motar's thread a couple weeks back - Christianity is NOT a religion. Yes, it is categorized as one of the World reiligions, but that is not what I am talking about. Christianity is about being made a new Creation, being born again, and having a relationship with our Creator.

What is with the quote from the murderous, rampaging, atheist? Not concerned with what Mao had to say. Rather, who is this Christ fellow?

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning

Well lets go with light first. It comes from objects that also have a lot of gravity, which it would appear that light has more force than gravity as it can leave the sun to be observed yet distant stars can also be seen (faintly) at long distances so again the 'gravity' loses when it is the much larger force. ( I don't buy into that for a second BTW)

Other than holding solar systems and galaxies together?
Why doesn't the light shining on the planets push them off into deep space?

lmao Ever heard of centrifugal and centripetal forces?
Light very well could push bodies of mass around if other forces weren't also playing a part. Light energy's strength lies elsewhere.
Anyways, this is a bit off the topic.

Until the second coming materializes (I'm not holding my breath) we're flogging a dead horse with this subject. -:)

Seriously? Gravity dominates the large scale structure over electromagnetism because things at that scale are electrically neutral.

It's not rocket science- how far does the sun shining on you move you? -:)
