Yeah, there's not much doubt about that. There was a lot of poor planning involved. Who in their right mind would hold it at a location, necessitating $billions being spent upgrading an access road? Who in their right minds would select locations where they are at the mercy of the weather. There are probably half a dozen locations in the B.C. interior that would meet all the criteria without the expense. One has to wonder how much of the security costs are directly attributable to the fact it is being held on the lower mainland. Real geniuses.......................................:lol::lol::lol:

I am glad they didn't chose a location anywhere near us, JLM. Our snow disappeared over a week ago and we have not seen so much as a flake since. Not good. What is it like in Vernon???

The only Oly peril is people going to BC and going home thinking " I paid THAT much and for what? I'll never go back there again".

Yeah, true about the weather but we're into a heck of a 'heat wave' in the Interior right now. This time last year, we had 4 or 5 ft. of snow on the ground...right now? None. Mind you, we're not very high in elevation...2,556 ft. ASL right here, but it's a pretty mild and dry January in most parts of the region...I think there is a fair amount of snow above the 4,000 ft. mark but even it is disappearing.

Maybe the weather will turn cold and snowy for the Olympics, but it's going to be a close one. At least, there might be a bit of hope on the weather front. On the expense side, that's a done deal!

Don't worry. They'll make it snow.

yes.....spending hard earned cash on something peacefull like the Olympics is completely assinine...... spend the money on a good war with lots of killing.... then there are no complaints about how much money is spent.

Totally green in Vernon, this isn't unheard of, there are a few of us who were around in 1958.

When I lived in Winfield in the early 70's snow only came for a day or two then melted fast. Nothing new for that region.

Aren't the Olympics war gerry? People die, fortunes are won and lost, careers are made and destroyed and the people are excited and involved and further indebted to the bankers. Basically what's the difference?

I remember Vancouver getting a pile of snow in 1965. In 1966 my wife and I played tennis in Stanley park on Christmas day........in tennis clothing.

just one more example of an american company looking at screwing Canada and Canadians.

Yep, and a great stage in which to do it.

Now if the yanks were sending a decent bunch of athletes it might have been a different story.
