I don't know offhand, but no set of circumstances are the same in every event.

So he is legally liable for his actions and should be arrested.

It seems to me that to pick out such an obscure provocation for outrage.. essentially one that exists only on the extreme margins of Western discourse.. can only be explained by the fact that at least parts of Islamic societies are looking for indignities with which to be insulted.
It's a sign of a society racked with frustration.. in a culture that has failed to produce advanced scientific, industrial, nationally organized economies. Islamic nations are characterized as dominated by mercantilism and subsistence agriculture.
The more isolated from Western influence the more they seem to reflect the sociotype that Muhammed was born into.. tribal, primitive, anti-technological, superstitious, irrational, xenophobic and laden with notions of persecution and conspiracies.
Their economies are largely based on trade and with little inherent or integrated industry, certainly not of a technologically advanced nature... and run by a despotic and corrupt leadership.

Basically what you are advocating is that any criticism on Islam must be made a crime. Anything that offends muslims must be made a crime.

The rioting has nothing to do with the short crappy film all the demonstrations are against the drone attacks and the NATO murder machine. Finally, I think this firm was in poor taste. It was purposely created to incite the fanatics.. and because of this 4 people killed in an Embassy in Libya and today 2 more soldiers killed..
The film maker added fuel to the fire by saying he was of Jewish faith while attacking Muhammad.
Just wondering how many more will die because of this guy's Right to Free Speech. Certainly wasn't Responsible Speech, and I bet you because of this Free Speech Laws may come under attack and safe guards such as the Patriot Act may come into play..
One person stretches the limits of Free Speech and it may cost us all.. maybe the USA will adopt Canadian Free Speech standards. I wonder if this was a Canadian film maker and the film shot in Canada, what would be the difference..
