Well it's clear, in this thread anyway, that the supporters can't really explain the value that this legislation will provide the taxpayers. I understand that there are some vindictive people that just want to see people sit in jail at the taxpayers expense. I also understand that some people believe that the minuscule increase in safety is worth the excessive amount of public money that will be needed to implement this legislation. Given my analytical nature, I have a difficult time understanding the emotional response of some people. To me, it's the polar opposite of the gun registration issue. Some people felt unsafe because of guns and wanted the taxpayers to pay for some bloated program that gave them the illusion of safety. So I guess my question is geared towards all those people that tend to think emotionally. Why do you want everybody else to spend their money to satisfy your emotional need?
