All True....

But none of which is a defense for voting in favour of efforts they now find to be beyond the Pale.......

I'm not defending them at all, I'm no apologist. I'm simply disagreeing with Petros that the two leading parties are essentially the same. They are not. I'm sure you would agree.

Good Cop. Bad cop. Same goals. Politics became a joke in the 70's and the punchline is still the same.

For many many years I would have agreed the Liberals and PCs were Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Now the Liberals have in many ways stepped over onto the left of the NDP, leaving the centre of our oh so narrow political spectrum completely to the new Conservatives. Thus their continued success.

I only wish the Conservatives were more Libertarian in the social sense.

So yep, you are correct, I agree the Liberals and Conservatives, at this point in time, are not the same.

That could easily change in a millisecond, with a change of leader.

I'm hoping Harper can be held to a minority.

At less the 40% support in the Polls, that seems the likely outcome. Even with a majority I'm not worried about what he'd do with Global Warming, which is a collosal fraud.. and i doubt he'd be able to push through a dismantling of Canadian Healthcare and social safety net, as much as he'd like to.. not in one term anyway

I am worried about him working surreptitiously, and without oversight of Parliament, to forward the demands of his puppet masters in the IMF and WTO to further eradicate all vestiges of an integrated Canadian industrial economy, and sovereignty over its currency and credit. Both healthcare and our pensions are dependent on that.

Frankly Ignatieff has no conception of the imminent threat of a collapse of world economy, with absolutely no protection for Canada which both Party's platforms assure.

So really it comes down to the fact that, any hobbling of government, by way of Minority, slows down, but does not stop, and the rampant agendas of Globalism.

Ignatieff is lost in a brain cloud of theories and sentiment driven idealism.. but Harper is a traitor. He has NO respect for democracy. And he's no Conservative, he is a radical Economic Liberal.

All of the cops have been to the left for a long long time. Wasn't it nice of our non-socialist govt to build plants for GM in China and Russia?

Again no qualms in the house.

Both parties have ramped up NAFTA and the SPP.

Both have done nothing for Colpy and the other enthusiasts as said.

Both have stiffed the provinces time and time again on royalties and transfers.

Both have done zero for environment.

Both have gone to or wanted to go to war.

Both have done nothing to ensure rights are upheld.

Both obviously agreed to the tyranny at the G8.

It goes on and on and on.

Cop out. It's easy to excuse when you break something complex down into a simple and ridiculous dichotomy.
Being politically blind in one eye and not being able to see through the other is ridiculous beyond scope.

Politically blind is ignoring that the two parties do all of what you mentioned based on ideals that segments of Canada support. Being unable to see that both parties do all of the above, is being blinded to reality, not politics.

It looks like Harper is still a few seats short of a majority.
I think he is really going to pick up the advertising in the most promising areas in the last 10 days to give it that final push over the majority line.
