When people are throwing grenades and you're in a fire fight you don't exactly call time out for a youth ID check like you're selling smokes at the Macs. What do you think he was wearing.......high top runners a hoodie and his pants half off? Every male in Khost looks 5-10 years older than he is at any rate. Do you seriously believe you wouldn't have shot at him if you were there?
Killing him at the time wouldn't have been wrong.

Anyway, you need to look at this more pragmatically. He was purposefully programmed to be an enemy combatant by his family. He killed Western troop. Had he been killed in the fire fight it would have been a completely legitimate death IAW the rules of engagement at the time.
To be very clear.....in the military you are taught "double tap centre mass". You do it hundreds of times in mockup. It is not blood lust or hatred it is training.
As for Muslims themselves. You need to see the merciless and insane religious fanaticism for yourself and you still wouldn't get it. I can't even begin to describe it. It's like being in one of those movies where prit'near everyone becomes a zombie trying to kill you but only they're faster and armed.

When I posted on this thread tonight, I just wanted to know if there was further developments, I sure as f**k didn't want to hear any more rhetoric that we've already heard a thousand times from the likes of the Capt. and Ski. To be clear, while I believe his death in a fire fight would've been legitimate and SHOULD have happened at the time. We have to deal with the unpleasant reality that he is a youth and Canada has laws regarding this that we certainly bent if did not break.

I believe it would be more of a lose/win situation because he did murder Speers. A fact that this soldier's family lives with forever now. We also don't know how many died because of his involvement in IEDs but he likely has more than a single death on his hands from what little I know of the case.
Can he spend most of his formative years and adult life in prison and come out reformed and a productive member of society? Possibly. He may just also purposely portray that image simply to grind this through the courts and by extension promote Islam. No such thing as bad press as they say.
I am not pleased about the twisting of our laws. But the Khadrs should never have been in here in the first place. I will reserve my judgement on his situation currently.
