On top of that, his legislative incompetence has led to failure of his healthcare bill and the scaling back of his budget cuts. Planned parenthood wasn't defunded. In fact, they just opened another abortion clinic in Texas. Sanctuary cities weren't defunded like he wanted. Trump got $0 for the border wall, the EPA was cut 1% instead of 30%, less than half the defense spending increase he wanted and much of what Trump wanted cut actually got increases in spending.

Trump is so pissed off about it he's threatening to shut down the government next time and is demanding the rules be changed.

Not true, actually. He said that he was spending his own money, but as in so many things, that's only part of the story. The rest is that he lent that money to his campaign, and when the donor money rolled in, his campaign paid him back. So it was pretty much a transaction between his left hand and his right hand, and he took as much "special interest" money as Clinton did.

Much of the money his campaign spent went to Trump's own businesses. So his campaign didn't just use donor money to pay back the loan Trump lent it. It used that loan to pay Trump's companies. In other words, the donor money went to Trump's pockets. And when Trump secured the nomination and actually started getting donor money from the RNC, his businesses started charging his campaign more.

It was a very well-executed con, and it continues in similar form as the government pays Trump to provide Trump's security and his administration's work space at Mar-a-Lago. If only Trump was as good at running the country as he was at robbing the GOP and the US treasury.

That might be one explanation, but we should be looking at valid explanations and you DON'T necessarily get those from watching/listening to the news, as most people can attest to who were watching the news during the afternoon hours of Nov. 8. The news is fairly accurate in reporting things like deaths, mayhem, volcanos etc. but is a piss poor source of facts about anything political.

Upon researching Trump's stance on torture, which a lot of people claim he supports, but from what I've read, it's more an extrapolation of his quote "you have to fight fire with fire"......................which I find is quite valid!

The big upside so far is that on trade and international affairs Trump has declared an end to the era of the U.S. allowing itself to be screwed by the client states in order to get them on board. Most of the international order was established by the U.S. in the post-WWII period, and as I said, we deliberately signed unfavorable agreements and treaties to aid in the rebuilding of war-torn countries and in the hope that we could spread Western democracy. At the time we could afford it, and it's probably been as successful as it was likely to be. Nowadays we're no longer the superdominant superpower, largely due to the success of our post-WWII programs, and it's time for the little kiddles to start paying the grown-up ticket price.
