Wouldn`t it have been ironic...some might say `fitting`, if the quake had struck just off the BC coastline with a tidal-wave flushing the spectators, Olympians and thier shiny medals back out to sea, never to have been heard from again?

What would it have done to the S&P500? Very depressing thought.

Wasn`t there a major earthquake just yesterday in the Americas or did I just dream that event?

I do recall CBC bringing up the topic between breaks in `The Games` and CNN, god love thier war-mongering hearts, putting in a full 24 hours covering the thing...mostly with cameras pointed towards the beaches in Hawaii in the event some REal breaking news occured.

Today, not a ****ing lick of news or follow-up on the quake..ok, the scattered `Chile Desk` from CNN but thats about it.

What a bunch of two-faced people we be in this regards.8O

That's probably a good sign rather than a bad sign, could mean they are getting things under control down there. AFter all the reporting that has been done already, probably the biggest news is the increasing death toll, which doesn't particularly make my day. I think in comparison to other quakes of similar magnitude they got off relatively light, thanks in part to the facts that it was considerable depth and out at sea. Let's not dwell on the bad news.

hey did you guys warming that earth quake machine up on quebec the other day? What have they eveer done to you guys?

shame on you

:)

We are just testing it out. Haiti was our first test, Chile was our second, now Quebec. After we work out the kinks we will begin to dismantle Iran by a series of quakes...just like Hugo Chavez says.

Everybody dig deep into your pockets now and contribute to the cause!!
Been there and done that and didn't wait for the idea to pop into your lil noggin. (Contributed the same amount we did after the Haitian quake, too, as a matter of fact).

That's the spirit!!!!!!! Maybe it hasn't occurred to him that a lot of people contributed all their available funds to the Haiti disaster. Maybe he doesn't realize that this stuff comes under the heading of MYOFB.:lol::lol::lol:

Nary Nary
... where ya goin to?
Nary, Nary, can I go too?
This one thing I will vow you,
I'd rather die than to live without you.
Nary, Nary, tell me truly,
What did I do to make you leave me?
Whatever it was I didn't mean to,
You know I never would try and hurt you.
What more, Nary, can I do,
To prove that my love is truly yours?
I've done more now,
Than a clear-thinking man would do.
Nary, Nary, it's not over,
Where you go, I will follow,
'Til I win your love again,
And walk beside you, but until then,
Nary, Nary, where're you going to?
Nary, where you going to?

Chile is no lost cause third world hell hole they've been down this road before and are no doubt well prepared.

IIRC the city of Concepcion was moved long ago because of quakes and has been rebuilt at least once after being flattened.

Then again, perhaps were all `broke` spending our surplus dollars on red mittens and other silly Olimpic stuff?
Hey...who needs TWO natural disasters in a row to contend with these days?

Our becoming like Americans with each passing year can only hurt us in the end.

Did you buy red mittens? If not, how much money have you sent?

No Kreskin...I didn`t buy any red mittens this winter. And no, I didnt contribute to any current cause. Matter a fact I don`t buy too much of whats offered today in that context.

How Bizarre. I heard it on the radio when I woke up and it didn't take much googling to find out more information as it came out. I dunno - maybe i type in stuff that gets better hits?

You`ll find yourself in a mess when theres no power (electricity) to rely on, for you`re info.

That has nothing to do with your previous comment. You implied that the world didn't care about this disaster because you were not able to access any information. i countered with the fact tat I found a lot of information regarding the earthquake - and for the record, I have friends there so I was very concerned.Did I find out everything I wanted to know? Of course not - but I did't get the feeling that the world was unconcerned.
