Remember when kids would go outside and play cowboys,cop 'n' robbers,war,? Christ the anti gang team and anti terrorist team would be on them in a flash,ruin their lives .....
I was talking with a friend of mine who was from the US originally. She spent some time in New Mexico a couple of years ago. She said she did not see any children outside playing on the street or in the parks, so she asked a local why she didn't see any children. The local replied, "are you crazy? We don't let the children out of the house. It is far too dangerous." My friend was driving home one day past a school and was pulled over by a cop and told she could not drive by the school on a week day. She had to go around it.
Paranoia is rampant. People are terrified of their shadows. Gun sales are sky rocketing after this latest shooting and now people are buying body armour for their kids. Makers of bulletproof backpacks have been overwhelmed with orders since the Newtown shootings.

...and I don't feel physicly threatened, but I get a Used Car Salesman vibe
and that does sort'a put me on edge....
It is illegal in Canada already, isn't it? Along with fortifying your dwelling, etc...

Funny. When I was a kid, it was because we were playing humans vs spacemen, cops or robbers, etc. It was all pretending. Infinitely massive difference in intent between that and actually intending harm to anyone.

If he shook his hand like a fully automatic, then I say we suspend him, but if it was a single shot then he was obviously just playing cowboys and indians. /sarcasm
This is likely not the first time this kid has been hauled into the office. Bet he is a repeat offender. They can not report that in the news. It is usually the same kids over and over and over. They punch, they kick, they bully and the other kids parents freak out. THAT is what drives this type of reaction, PARENTS who are concerned for their kid and their contact with the Board of Trustees. Yup. As for school lock downs the Board I work for has cameras on the front doors and when school is in session those doors are kept locked and one must buzz to get in. You are then allowed through or not. You would be surprised at the problems that happen just in a regular nice area. You would be horrified at what happens in rough areas. It is not quite as simple as it seems.
