n the one hand, sure, I can agree with that; back to basics of Pride.
Not sure, but it looks like Pride has been overtaken by people with their own agenda that doesn't necessarily align with what the majority of gays and lesbians want. Certainly different than the ones I know.

It depends where and who really. Pride around here has a good group of people that there's no real issues with. But it's like any group, there will be issues with people regardless.

There are also people in Pride and in the GLBTQIA+ who want things to be just GLB or GL and kick everyone else out, especially T. And there are also homophobic people, anti-trans people...

Canada halts planned deportation of bisexual man living in Toronto to Kenya

Charles Mwangi has been granted a one-year temporary resident permit on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024.
TORONTO — A bisexual man in Canada has been granted one-year temporary residency just a day before his scheduled deportation to Kenya — an outcome his supporters call “a victory for migrant and queer justice.”

Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, an organization supporting Charles Mwangi, said in a press release Saturday that the 48-year-old man living in Toronto was granted the temporary resident permit after a wave of petitions, protests and an emergency application to the United Nations Human Rights committee. Mwangi had been scheduled to leave on Sunday.

“I’m so happy today, we have won,” Mwangi said in the release, adding that the journey of undocumented people is “not a joke, it’s a nightmare.”

Mwangi said he fled Kenya after facing death threats and abuse because of his sexuality before arriving in Canada in 2019. He had feared his forced return, especially since his activism and the notoriety of his case placed him at even greater risk of persecution in the east African country.

Kenya criminalizes same-sex relationships, and human rights groups there have reported widespread cases of discrimination, harassment and violence against LGBTQ people, with police often cited as one of the major perpetrators.

In the release, Migrant Workers Alliance for Change said Mwangi’s temporary resident permit allows him to stay in Canada while his humanitarian and compassionate application is reviewed.

Diana Da Silva, an organizer for Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, called on Ottawa to protect undocumented people.

“Stopping Charles’s deportation is a victory for migrant and queer justice and the power of community action,” Da Silva said in a statement. “We should not have had to fight to stop his deportation, we call on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to keep his promise and regularize all undocumented people.”

The organization said Mwangi currently works as a personal support worker at two Toronto shelters, and previously worked in long-term care homes during the pandemic. They said he had come to Canada under the belief that it was safe for people who identify as LGBTQ+.

Mwangi made a last-ditch request this week for the United Nations Human Rights Committee to intervene in his case after his refugee claim was denied in 2021 and several follow-up appeals were unsuccessful.

A copy of the UN application says his refugee claim was denied because the adjudicator did not find Mwangi, who is married and has two children, to be a credible bisexual man despite his sworn testimony, the testimony of a man he was said to be dating in Toronto and his activism with local LGBTQ organizations.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Migrant Workers Alliance for Change said Mwangi is set to lead a demonstration in Toronto on Sept. 15 as part of Canada-wide actions against racism and for immigrant justice.

Richard Simmons' death officially ruled an accident

Richard Simmons’ death has officially been ruled an accident.

The fitness guru was found dead at his house in LA last month after emergency workers responded to a 911 call from his housekeeper, and a new report issued by Los Angeles’ Medical Examiner has explained how he passed away after a fall.

The report, which was obtained by People magazine, listed Richard’s cause of death as “sequelae of blunt traumatic injuries” that were caused by a “ground level fall,” with “arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease” also cited as a “contributing condition.”

The documents stated: “Per reports, he experienced an episode of dizziness and collapsed on the floor on the evening of July 11, 2024.

“He was found the next morning on July 12 and spent the day in bed. On the morning of July 13, he was found unresponsive on the bedroom floor. His death was pronounced at the scene.”

Simmons’ body was also found to have a fractured left femur, as well as “incidental bilateral renal cortical cysts and a gallstone.”

Toxicology studies detected the presence of antihistamine diphenhydramine, antidepressant trazodone, and zolpidem – which is used to treat insomnia – but they did “not appear to have contributed to the cause of death.”

The report ruled that “for the purpose of public health and vital statistics, given the history and circumstances as currently known by me in the setting of the findings by examination and ancillary studies, the manner of death is classified as accident.”

The published report echoes a statement issued by Richard’s family spokesperson earlier this month.

Tom Estey, said: “This morning, Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner’s office. The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard’s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.

“The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.”

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School was involved in a controversy with transgender players last year.

During a girls’ field hockey game against Swampscott High School, a player on Dighton-Rehoboth suffered “significant facial and dental injuries” that “required hospitalization” after being hit in the face by a shot from a transgender player.
“Our Field Hockey coaches and captains made this decision, and we notified our opponent accordingly,” the statement continued. “The District supports this decision as there are times where we have to place a higher value on safety than on victory.”

So anytime a girl gets hit in the face or anywhere else on a body that leads to injuries with any kind of object dealing with a sport - whether fist, field hockey, rugby ball, soccer ball, etc - we assume the person who last touched the object was trans?

Sure, okay.

(My point being sports leads to injuries, sometimes serious ones. Saying that because a trans person did X thing and someone got hurt is a bullshit excuse to be transphobic)

Is it an assumption in this case?

My very first sentence in Post# 5068:

Perhaps the girls need better safety equipment going forward if they’re in a mixed league?

I don't know, is it?
My very first sentence in Post# 5068:

Well considering your posts lately, I never know if they're serious or sarcastic.

Perhaps the girls need better safety equipment going forward if they’re in a mixed league?

Perhaps girls shouldn't play sports at all if they're gonna whine about being hurt, period.

Also, this was not a mixed league. Trans girls are girls, just trans.
