#TrumpWon the debate? Legitimate polls show otherwise
Online 'polls' pegged Donald Trump as the presidential debate winner, but scientific polls did not
The hashtag #TrumpWon was trending on Twitter Tuesday. Partially boosted by sarcasm, it was fuelled primarily by Donald Trump, who was quick to claim he won Monday's debate by citing a slew of online polls that pegged him as the winner.
But there's a problem. None of the polls Trump has pointed to are actually legitimate polls. Instead, all of the scientific, real polls published so far have shown him to be the loser of the debate by significant margins.
In the world of public opinion research, the "online polls" that litter news websites are a plague. Whereas real surveys try to assemble representative samples of the population, these online polls are more of a gimmick or a game. Anyone can answer them. Often people can answer them multiple times. They can invite their friends, who likely think just like them, to answer the online polls on social media.
And then they can point to these completely unrepresentative and meaningless results as if they signal something important.
At their very best, these online polls are only a sample of a given website's audience — at least those who see the online poll while it is posted and are interested enough to participate. It is no coincidence that two of the online polls Trump has quoted come from conservative websites like Drudge and Breitbart (the latter run by Trump's campaign CEO).
These online polls are not the same as the legitimate surveys conducted by pollsters that sample from a demographically representative internet panel. And they are certainly not the same as the legitimate surveys that randomly sample from the general population via telephone.
These legitimate polls also differ in their results.
Four scientific polls published since the debate using legitimate surveying methods have shown that debate-watchers saw Hillary Clinton as the better performer and the winner of Monday's debate:
A CNN/ORC poll of 521 debate-watchers taken the night of the debate found that 62 per cent thought Clinton had done the best job, compared to 27 per cent for Trump.
A PublicPolicyPolling survey of 1,002 debate-watchers also taken the night of the debate showed 51 per cent of viewers thought Clinton had won, while 40 per cent gave the nod to Trump.
A POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of 1,253 likely voters on Sept. 26 and 27 found that 49 per cent thought Clinton had won, while 26 per cent thought Trump did.
A YouGov poll of 1,145 Americans conducted on Sept. 26 and 27 found that 57 per cent of those who viewed the debate thought Clinton won, against 30 per cent for Trump.

Yet of course your opinion is of one who did not watch . In other words meaningless .Yup, it all comes down to style without substance. TV has brain damaged most voters. It is all just a "reality" show, scripted to play on emotions so logic flies out the window.
Yup mentalfloss no vote .The ones that actually survey real Americans and not Russians and Chinese?
Yes his stupidity is strong enough to bring us to net zero.
Trump is not as politically correct as you . He is however within inches of winning control of the nuclear codes . Scary eh ?Trump supporters don't trust polls. Quote all the polls you want. They won't believe them. Remember the "unskewed" polls in 2012? Republicans were convinced that there was fundamental problem with polling methodology that only they figured out, so they "unskewed" polls to magically show Romney was going to win?
Trump's style creates the impression of "no bull ****", but he is, in fact, completely full of ****.
Good no worries then . Wouldn't want to see that megalomaniac with his hands on the buttons .Clinton is a decent candidate and Trump is garbage.

Could it be that this circus is a deflection of what is really going down that they don't want you to think about?
In the 8 years or so that I have been on here I have not heard you say one constructive thing. You just bitch about what other people say. What qualifies you?Yet of course your opinion is of one who did not watch . In other words meaningless .

I lived in the bush for ten years. I am 70 now. I have been an engineer, a draftsman, a graphic artist, a political cartoonist, a newspaper owner, a farmer, a house builder among other things. I think I have probably done a lot more with my life than a sarcastic 9 - 5er like you and most of the other sarcastic wage slaves on here, sonny boy.
Yup then you must have sold your soul to the man . Hypocrite .In the 8 years or so that I have been on here I have not heard you say one constructive thing. You just bitch about what other people say. What qualifies you?

Trump has turned over tax returns – for lawsuits and loans
WASHINGTON — While Donald Trump won't publicly release his income tax returns, the New York businessman has turned them over when it suited his needs — if he stood to make a profit, needed a loan or when a judge forced him.
Pennsylvania gaming regulators were given at least five years' worth and eight boxes full of Trump's tax documents. Nevada, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana and other state gaming officials also had access to multiple years of his returns. Large banks that lent Trump money over the years have also obtained Trump's returns.
One common thread ties all those who have seen the documents: They can't talk about them.
Such legal restrictions leave the public with only small glimpses into what Trump's taxes might hold.
In Monday night's debate, Democrat Hillary Clinton cited documents unearthed by reporters to question whether Trump doesn't want to release his tax returns because he has paid little or no federal income taxes.
Trump's response? "That makes me smart," a comment he disavowed just minutes after the debate. Asked by reporters if he had admitted to not paying federal income taxes, Trump said, "I didn't say that at all."
Clinton cited documents unearthed by Politico showing Trump didn't pay any federal income tax during at least two years in the early 1990s because he lost more money than he earned. Other documents show he also didn't pay any federal income taxes in 1978, 1979 and 1984

Donald Trump’s weight problem: He can’t stop talking about ‘fat’ people
Donald Trump has a serious weight problem: He can’t seem to stop criticizing the girth of others.
For decades, Trump has commented on other people’s bodies, particularly women who he believes had gained too much weight or were, in his word, “fat.” The recurring habit flared again this week when the Republican presidential nominee attacked the size of a Miss Universe winner, claiming she had gained “a massive amount of weight” while she wore the pageant’s crown and that “it was a real problem.”
Trump called actress Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig” and said she has a “fat, ugly face.” He said singer Jennifer Lopez has a “fat a--” and said reality television star Kim Kardashian had “gotten a little large” during her pregnancy. He kept a “fat photo” of one employee whose weight fluctuated in a drawer and told an overweight executive, “you like your candy,” according to the employees. When a reporter complimented his wife, Melania, on her appearance shortly after giving birth, Donald Trump replied: “She’s lost almost all the baby weight.”
Trump also mocks the weight of men, but usually in a more jocular way than his remarks about women. Trump reportedly told a producer on “The Apprentice” that “everybody loves a fat guy,” and he has joked about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s size on the campaign trail.
Trump’s comments about weight, along with a long line of other incendiary comments about women, present another serious challenge for him in attracting female voters in November. Trump needs to gain support from moderate suburban women to ascend to the White House, but so far he has found little success with female voters, many of whom find the Republican nominee offensive and unacceptable. According to an ABC News-Washington Post poll released this week, 55 percent of women surveyed said they plan to vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
