But UN is completely unbiased & UNRWA is essential for the Palestinians (except when Hamas or Friends are shooting at them in/at the UN/UNRWA compound I suppose).

It was probably just a shopping trip (caught by drone or satellite) by Hamas (&/or Friends) at UNRWA… just like you would go to Costco on a Saturday morning, etc…”Nothing to see here. Move along, or we’ll shoot you & blame it on the Israelis!”

So…with the Biden peace cease-fire proposal that leaves Hamas in power in Gaza & removes Hamas from power in Gaza…without saying how it’ll accomplish either at this point, I wonder how UNRWA (as essentially not only a wing of the UN, but a wing of Hamas) fits into the rebuild plans for Gaza in the “day after” context & concept?

Qatar and Saudi Arabia on Sunday condemned an Israeli parliamentary bill that seeks to label UNRWA, the main provider of aid for Palestinians in Gaza, a terrorist group, joining a growing number of nations opposed to the proposal.

The bill, which passed a preliminary vote in parliament last week, is the product of increasingly tense relations between Israel and the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees. Israel has accused the agency of militant links, claiming that hundreds of its employees are members of militant groups, including some who allegedly participated in the Oct. 7 attacks on southern Israel.

The bill moving through Israeli parliament seeks to brand the agency a “terror group,” saying that the employees’ alleged involvement in the Hamas assault shows that “it is a terror organization that is no different from the Hamas terror organization.” The bill also seeks to cut diplomatic ties between Israel and the agency. The bill passed the initial vote 42-6 and must go through committees and three other votes before becoming law.

Besides tunnels and gun emplacements, what will Hamas be interested in rebuilding? Expect to see UNRWA importing massive amounts of cement.

Is there an administrative wing and militant wing to Hamas?

So Israel wants it all gone, military and admin?
Well, from what they’ve been saying from about Oct 8th, give or take a day, they want to remove the threat of future attacks from Hamas on Israel from ever happening again.

(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged its troops will enter the besieged Palestinian enclave to destroy Hamas and its military wing as well as other Palestinian armed groups. The Qassam Brigades responded saying it was “ready”. The threat of the ground invasion, Qassam spokesperson Abu Obeideh said, “doesn’t scare us”.)

I guess that for sure would include the military wing (the Qassam Brigades), but maybe not the communications/media/propaganda wing, of which I’m assuming the Hamas-run Gaza Health Authority is a division of? They’re so embedded that it’s hard to tell where they stop & start.

The Hamas group’s vast network of social welfare activities (fingers in many pies with 40-ish% for the big guys in Qatar, etc…), including food distribution during Ramadan and building schools and hospitals (through its UNRWA wing?), boosted its popularity over the years.
Surprisingly…with Gaza bordering on Israel & Egypt, and both countries closed their borders with Gaza in 2006–07, restricting the movement of goods and people into and out of the territory…Hamas’s issue is with Israel (not Egypt currently) where Hamas published its charter in 1988, calling for the murder of Jews, the destruction of Israel, and in Israel’s place, the establishment of an Islamic society in historic Palestine.
For years after the blockade began, Hamas collected revenue by taxing goods moving through a sophisticated network of tunnels that circumvented the Egyptian crossing into Gaza; this brought staples such as food, medicine, and cheap gas for electricity production into the territory, as well as construction materials, cash, and arms…but Shhhhh…but the fact Egypt (nod-nod-wink-wink) “closed” its border “loosely” might be part of the reason Hamas doesn’t object to Egypt outright yet…& the whole “not dirty Apes Jews” thing doesn’t hurt.

So the shooting guys then. The admin? When shot do they get counted as military or admin or just Hamas?

In a complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the plaintiffs said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) spent more than a decade helping Hamas build what they called the "terror infrastructure" and personnel needed for the attack.

The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages for what they allege was UNRWA's "aiding and abetting Hamas' genocide, crimes against humanity, and torture," which they said violated international law and the federal Torture Victim Protection Act.

UNRWA declined to comment, saying it had yet to be served with the lawsuit, etc…

Yeah no.

The money should not have been sent if there was proof of terrorist links.

What sucks is there's no one better to take leadership of the country so we can't just kick Justin out for this.
Frustrating isn't it? We need laws to be able to recall politicians between elections when they obviously go against the laws or even ethics of the country. Canadians don't have the same protections as they do in the U.S.

Well, this’ll learn UNICEF for not being UNRWA.
Hezbollah in Lebanon doesn’t have 250 (or 40, or 4, or less) Israeli hostages that Israel would have to concern themselves with not squishing while flattening…Hezbollah stuff.
