The UN is investigating itself twice to be thorough. The United Nations appointed former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna to lead the UNRWA neutrality review in February after Israel alleged that 12 of UNRWA staff had taken part in the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attacks on Israel which triggered the Gaza war.

In a separate investigation, a U.N. oversight body is looking into the allegations against the 12 UNRWA staff.
Like the owner of another blog says , why are we still a member of this thing .

A UN report into the Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA has concluded it must do more to improve its neutrality, staff vetting and transparency.

But the independent review also said that Israel had failed to back up a claim that many of the agency's staff belonged to terror groups.
The results from the other report where the UN is investigating itself aren’t published yet.

My biggest laugh with the UNRWA is their latest ad depicting Ukrainian refugees. Meanwhile one of the UN's SC members is creating all those refugees.

The UN and its organs are a joke. A self-appointed quasi-govt body elected by no one, answerable to no one and thinks they run the show.

The UNRWA may or may not have staff that belong to terror groups but they are helping Hamas and most of the Arab-muslim world push the false narrative of Israel being the bully and Palestine being the victim. Because if they actually reveal the truth, they will NOT be allowed back into Gaza to help with refugees.
The same thing has happened to reporters who let truth and facts "slip out". They were told to never return to Palestine, or else.

UNRWA is Palestine only.

The commercial with Ukrainians is for UNHCR.

Out of approximately 12,000 UNRWA workers in Gaza, 440 are active in the military arm of Hamas, meaning terrorists currently fighting against the IDF.

But the narrative is that they don't want to help refugees.

No, I mean like the rest of 'em.

Hope that helped.
Not really. I don't see the argument for support. They are a corrupt organization that has proven time and again that Hamas is using them to transport rockets into Gaza and, of course, those who participated in the October 7th attack. Then there are the people in UNRWA who haven't been outed for being sympathetic to Hamas. Quite frankly, the Palestinians have been the problem child and welfare bum of the Mideast for almost my entire lifetime. From my adolescence into my 50s I have watched many presidents try to broker peace. Five times. Every time the Palestinians walked away. Countries like Iran have a vested interest in keeping the region destabilized because they want to continue ruling and keep hanging gays and oppressing and killing women. When the relief agency employees are actually Hamas workers, I don't see a logical reason for sending them money or aid.

UNRWA is Palestine only.
UNRWA operates separately from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which was also established in 1949.
The commercial with Ukrainians is for UNHCR.
While UNHCR provides temporary protection and assistance to refugees, it does not have a mandate over Palestinian refugees within the UNRWA fields of operations.

In 1965, UNRWA changed the eligibility requirements to be a Palestinian refugee to include third-generation descendants, and in 1982, it extended it again, to include all descendants of Palestine refugee males, including legally adopted children, regardless of whether they had been granted citizenship elsewhere.

Unlike UNRWA, UNHCR has a specific mandate to assist refugees in eliminating their refugee status by local integration in the current country, resettlement in a third country or repatriation when possible.

So basically, UNRWA with a staff of about 30,000 or so is just for Palestinians in certain places, where as UNHCR with a staff of about 12,000 is for the rest of all global refugees, including Palestinians outside of the regions exclusively under UNRWA mandate.

UNRWA operates in five areas: Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. aid for Palestinian refugees outside these five areas is provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). UNRWA is the only UN agency dedicated to helping refugees from a specific region or conflict in perpetuity. The UNRWA definition of "refugee" is meant solely to determine eligibility for UNRWA assistance. However, some argue it serves to perpetuate the conflict.

In recent decades, UNRWA has been involved in controversial incidents connected to its role in the Gaza Strip, relationship with Hamas, textbook content, and potentially the 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel also.

The High Commission UNHCR is mandated to help refugees get on with their lives as quickly as possible and works to settle them rapidly, most frequently in countries other than those they fled. UNRWA policy, however, states that the Palestinian Arabs who fled from Israel in the course of the 1948 war, plus all of their descendants, are to be considered refugees until a just and durable solution can be found by political actors. UNRWA was specifically designed not to prescribe how the outcome of an agreement would take shape.

That’s where this controversy lays. It’s the old “Poison Gum-ball Machine” senario. What %’age of the gumballs have to be poison in a gum-ball machine before you stop plugging your nickels into it?

You know, this is sort of like the Safe Supply argument. People keep dying, so if we give them drugs, they won't die as quickly. In UNRWA case, rather than clean up their act or form a new organization, they just want to keep the safe supply rolling. Food. Rockets. Guns. Sympathy. It's all part of the intifada.

But the self-review say Israel didn’t provide any evidence of UNRWA involvement…
But this says the review specifically wasn’t about Israel’s claim that a number of UNRWA staff took part in the Oct 7th invasion & holding of hostages afterwards:

The UN reviewing itself is as truthful as Liberals reviewing their own policies in Canada, only a third party review with full transparency should be taken as truth
