For being a Jew hater. Seems odd with a name like that, but he certainly spews hatred for Jews.

GALAXY LEADER (IMO: 9237307) is a Vehicles Carrier that was built in 2002 (21 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of Bahamas.

Her carrying capacity is 17127 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 7.5 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 189.2 meters and her width is 32.29 meters.

The Bahamas-flagged Galaxy Leader's crew is made up of nationals from Bulgaria, Ukraine, the Philippines, Mexico and Romania, Galaxy Maritime said. The vessel is chartered by Japan's Nippon Yusen.

"Owners and managers believe the seizure? of this vessel represents a gross violation of freedom of passage for the world fleet and a serious threat to international trade," Galaxy Maritime said.

It added that the "key concern at this time is the safety and security of the 25 crew members currently being held by the perpetrators of this criminal act".

The Bahaman-flagged vessel is registered under a British company, which is partiallyowned by Israeli tycoon Abraham Ungar, who goes by Rami. The vessel was leased out to a Japanese company at the time of the hijacking.

“This is not an Israeli ship,” the IDF asserted, while directly blaming the Houthis for the hijacking.

A UN ship database identified the vessel’s owners as a Tel Aviv-based firm, Ray Shipping Ltd, which was founded by Ungar. Calls to Ray Shipping rang unanswered Sunday, and officials at the company did not immediately respond to a written request for comment.

The Houthis have said they are acting as part of the “axis of resistance” against Israel, which includes Iran-backed terror groups in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The Yemeni rebel group’s slogan is “God is great, death to America, death to Israel, curse on the Jews, victory for Islam.”

The Iran-backed Houthi militants said they hijacked the ship over its connection to Israel and would continue to target ships in international waters.

Still think this ends with a prisoner swap?

I never thought it would. I figured any kind of de-escalation would have to start with the immediate release of the kidnapped multi-national civilians from Israel from October 7 though.
Still think there will be a de-escalation?

It's just starting.

Israel and Hamas appeared on the cusp of agreeing to a deal in which the militant group would free dozens of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a partial pause in fighting, in what would be the first major diplomatic achievement since the war began on Oct. 7.

The deal involves 50 Israeli hostages held by militants in Gaza being released in exchange for some 150 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, according to officials familiar with the negotiations. The exchange involves only women and children on both sides.

In the first phase of the deal, Israel would pause fighting in northern Gaza for six hours a day, for four or more days, with the possibility of extending the pause if Hamas releases more hostages.

SickKids anesthesiologist's anti-Israel comments 'terrifying,' B'nai Brith says

The CEO of B’nai Brith Canada said that a SickKids pediatric anesthesiologist’s anti-Israel comments on Instagram are “terrifying” for Jewish parents with children who might be patients.

But Michael Mostyn said that the hospital putting the doctor on voluntary paid administrative leave is an “encouraging first step.”

As reported Friday, Christian Zaarour, an anesthesiologist with The Hospital for Sick Children and a teacher at the University of Toronto’s Department of Medicine, wrote on Instagram: “We consider Israel to be absolute evil. There is nothing worse than Israel. If Israel and the devil fight each other, we will stand with the devil.”

Mostyn said in response on Monday: “What could possibly be more terrifying for a Jewish parent than to know that your child’s life is in the hands of a pediatric anesthesiologist who shares social-media posts stating that the Jewish state of Israel is evil? The sharing of anti-Semitic posts like these represent an unacceptable level of bigotry that will most certainly interfere with this doctor’s ability to provide medical care.”

However, Mostyn said that SickKids “placing Dr. Zaarour on paid administrative leave is an encouraging first step towards ensuring that the matter is being handled appropriately. It is critical that The Hospital for Sick Children launch a thorough investigation and that Dr. Zaarour only be cleared to return to work once it has been clearly assessed that he is capable of fulfilling his duties without posing a risk to the well-being of his patients.”

SickKids released a second statement on Sunday, saying in part that “we continue to investigate the complaints about a social-media post involving one of our physicians. He is currently on a voluntary paid administrative leave while the investigation is being completed. All who come to SickKids are entitled to be treated with respect, professionalism and feel safe.”

Both the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the U of T said on Friday in statements that they expect physicians or community members to abide by the expectations outlined in their respective policies, but had no new comments Monday when asked about Zaarour being put on leave.

Crombie pressed at mosque, 'You with the Muslims or the Israelis?'

Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie was bullied, intimidated and humiliated by men and women inside a Hamilton mosque.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie is pictured in a Hamilton mosque. The image was posted to X at @RE_MarketWatch ()
It was the rudest treatment of a female Ontario political leader inside a mosque since then-premier Kathleen Wynne was asked in 2017 to sit at the back while men prayed.

That indignity was inflicted on an Ontario premier a downtown Toronto mosque.

The latest degrading treatment of a prominent female political leader was at a mosque in Hamilton, directed towards Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie. As the perceived front-runner in the Ontario Liberal Party’s leadership campaign, she could next month become the Grit’s leader, and perhaps, the province’s premier some day.

But videos show none of that helped Crombie during a heated exchange in which she was bullied, intimidated and humiliated by men and women. Inside the mosque — where Crombie wore a head covering — the politician was called on in one of the videos posted to social media to “condemn the killing of innocent babies.”

In a video, entitled, “Hamilton Muslims calling out Mayor Bonnie Crombie for not calling for a ceasefire,” people were asking her “will you make one tweet? It takes 10 seconds.”

A man on the floor wearing Palestinian colours held up a cellphone with a picture and asked Crombie, “are you with the Muslims or the Israelis” since “this is a picture of you at the Israeli lobby conference?”

Another question posed was, “will you condemn Israel … yes or no?”

A woman’s voice can be heard yelling, “don’t talk down to us anymore,” and there was a warning that Crombie “will not get the Muslim vote.”

While she maintained her composure, Crombie appeared understandably rattled, if not scared, at the ugly and unfair scene.

“I will be putting a statement up as you ask, you have heard it,” she said, adding it would ask “for permanent peace and the killing to stop.”

Crombie’s campaign sent the following statement.

“Last evening (Sunday) Bonnie Crombie was invited by members of the Muslim community in Hamilton to attend a meeting at the Hamilton Mountain Mosque and listen. That is exactly what she did. Bonnie is grateful for the invitation and for the opportunity to hear firsthand the concerns of the community during this extremely difficult time.”

Ontario Liberal voters would be right to ask who the real Bonnie Crombie is.

She also sent the “statement that she read at the meeting,” which said, “I would like to appeal for all killing to stop and for hostages to be released, for the war to end, and for peace efforts to resume.

“My prayers are not just for the Middle East but also for all of us at home.” Crombie added she urged people to “learn from each other so that we can build a better and stronger Ontario – one that embraces everyone – no matter a person’s culture or faith.”

It was not enough for some.

On X, former Toronto mayoral candidate Bahira Abdulsalam, who organized Ontario’s million-person march for children to fight gender ideology in schools, said, “how dare she go again to a masjid after all the hate she is inciting against Muslims? I would never let her in. Proud of our brothers and sisters who gave her a good lesson.”

Of course, Crombie has never incited hate against Muslims or any community. She has always been respectful, adhering, accommodating and, like many politicians — including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — sometimes even pandering to people.

Crombie made an appearance at this same mosque in August with no incident and did not deserve to be treated like this.

But Abdulsalam, who supported a female Durham College student’s video praising Hamas Oct. 7 attack, was not finished.

On X, she added, “I believe (Crombie) should be only targeting LGBTQ votes. I can remember, though, the public statement Bonnie Crombie made about Haya day when we gathered to celebrate our pride about modesty and she sided with the LGBTQ community as if they are the only community worthy of celebrating pride, insulting the Muslim community who voted her to be a mayor of Mississauga.”

Abdulsalam continued, “now she is coming again and she had the audacity to wear the Islamic veil and go to our prayer place to demand the Muslim vote. Shame on all politicians who believe they are going to continue deceiving people and ignoring their voices except for getting in power.”

This belittling style is similar to what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced last month at a mosque in Rexdale, where people yelled, “how many more Palestinian children need to be slaughtered” before you call for a ceasefire,” and, “condemn Israel?”

The combative approach appears to have enjoyed success since Trudeau later asked Israel to show “restraint” — just as Crombie called for the “killing” to stop — when it was Hamas’ slaughter of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of some 240 hostages that sparked the bloodshed in Gaza.

The strategy of demanding that Canada’s elected leaders bow down to those who support anti-Semitic genocide and terror seems to work.

And the more this disrespect works, the more our political leaders will face it.

Israel and Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a ceasefire in Gaza for at least four days, to let in aid and release at least 50 hostages captured by militants in exchange for at least 150 Palestinians jailed in Israel.

The first truce in a brutal near seven-week-old war, reached after mediation by Qatar, was hailed around the world as a sign of progress that could ease the suffering of Gaza's civilians and bring more Israeli hostages home. Israel said the ceasefire could be extended further, as long as more hostages were freed.

Hamas and allied groups captured around 240 hostages when gunmen rampaged through southern Israeli towns on Oct. 7. Previously, Hamas had released just four.

The official start time for the truce is expected to be announced within 24 hours, with the first hostages to go free on Thursday.
