Black and brown, yes. How they got in there? Because a focus was needed on GLBTQIA+ people of color. Because of their cultural backgrounds (ie extreme religious beliefs) they tend to get even more violence than white GLBTQIA+ people. And then general racism that's even found in "the community". It's there to promote GLBTQIA+ people of color, because they happen too.

Um... not exactly, no.

No, it's not, and no, you're not "in the stone age" if you don't have the new flag.

Since the expansion of sexuality and gender as science continues to discover the different ones out there, there are more 'additions'.

Actually, here.

If you're interested.

While I get the reasons behind it, honestly, my personal opinion is that it does more harm than good. It's further dividing an already divided community that should be based on inclusiveness, not division.
Yes, that is what I saw. I just couldn't remember what the horizontal stripes were other than they were not 'types'. I will likely forget again.

Also in re-reading my comment, I did not mean the weird to refer to the people but the actual stripes. It wasn't entirely clear so clarifying.

Ya no worries, I get the weird though; like I said, I think it all just does more harm than good in the end but... I also don't care enough to be that outspoken about it.

Trudeau is good for comic relief occasionally when he’s not actively out to harm Canada intentionally or inadvertently.

The eye sucks, but I’ve done worse with steel or wood chips. The eyeball compresses but it’s not happy when it does. It’ll be fine.

Still haven’t taken the time to really dig into Higgs & this 713 to really look at the nuances between the two sides, but I will eventually.

To the Higgs/713 thing, really it's just a transphobe amending something already in place because he got one (not hundreds as he claimed, at least, not that he's proven) complaint about it. And with that bit in his teeth, he went the route of the extremists in the US, in that way. Honestly I'm more surprised with how positive people have been in general about it, vs. what it could be.

So, the SCOTUS is now taking non-existant issues, making them a 'thing' and then saying that people can discriminate against anyone GLBTQIA+.

Considering things, I do NOT trust this just to stick to "Teh gheys!"

6 of 29 Conservatives voted against. According to CBC its a vast majority. Global and CTV didn't bother covering it as news.

3 rushed to hospital after gender issues classroom stabbings at University of Waterloo
Professor attacked in incident, witness tells student newspaper

Witnesses inside a University of Waterloo classroom where three people were stabbed on Wednesday described a terrifying scene involving a professor being attacked during a gender issues philosophy class, according to the university’s official student newspaper.

Imprint reported that the stabbing happened at about 4 p.m. toward the end of a philosophy class at Hagey Hall on campus.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, three people were hospitalized.

Police later said the three victims — a professor and two students — suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

One person was taken into custody, police said.

Nick Manning, associated vice-president of communications at the university, said the suspect is “a member of the University of Waterloo community.”

Arts and business student Jinming Li was inside the classroom when the scene unfolded, Imprint reported. The student told Imprint that a man, who he believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30, entered the classroom and asked the professor what the class subject matter was about. According to Li, the man closed the door, pulled two knives out of his backpack and tried to attack the professor.

Students ran to the back of the classroom to exit out of the single entrance, the witness said, according to Imprint.

“It feels (shocking),” Li told Imprint. “If I ranked the safe(ty) of the university, maybe I’d give them … three, 3.5 (out of 5) because everyone can come in our university and we don’t have security, right? They can come in our buildings.”

Third-year student Jackson Yan, who was studying on the third floor of Hagey Hall when the incident happened, said the suspect missed the professor, but “ended up attacking one or two other people.” Yan said a student ran out of the hall screaming for others to run.

Police arrived shortly after that.

An increased police presence was expected on campus “as officers continue to clear buildings and ensure public safety.”

It said there was no further risk to the campus community.

Classes scheduled for Wednesday evening in Hagey Hall were cancelled, but all other campus operations would proceed as usual, the university said in a tweet.

University of Waterloo stabbing was hate-motivated related to gender identity, cops say
International student Geovanny Villalba-Aleman, 24, faces charges

A triple stabbing during a gender studies class at the University of Waterloo is believed to have been a hate-motivated attack, police said Thursday as they laid multiple charges against a 24-year-old former student.

The Wednesday attack injured three people and shocked the university campus located about 100 kilometres west of Toronto.

Geovanny Villalba-Aleman, a recently graduated international student, faces three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, police said.

“Investigators have reason to believe that this was a planned and targeted attack motivated by hate related to gender expression and gender identity,” Waterloo Regional Police Chief Mark Crowell said at a Thursday news conference.

Police said the suspect walked into the gender studies class of roughly 40 students, asked the 38-year-old professor for the subject of the class, then attacked her with two large knives.

As people tried to escape, he stabbed two students — a 19-year-old man and 20-year-old woman — and attempted to stab a another person, police alleged.

“The 2SLGBTQ+ community, we believe, was targeted sort of broadly and at large here,” Crowell said. “We believe that the class subject was of interest to the subject and that was the origins of what transpired here.”

Some students tried to stop the attack by throwing chairs and other objects at the suspect, police said. The suspect then tried to pose as a victim, but police said he was quickly identified and arrested in the building where the stabbing occurred.

The victims were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a profile on Facebook, Villalba-Aleman is from Quito, Ecuador and had just graduated in April with a bachelor’s degree in physics from the university.

Crowell said it was both “sad and disturbing” for the attack to take place during Pride month, a time to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ community. He noted a “small uptick” in recent incidents targeting the community, such as torn down Pride flags.

“I know in speaking with police partners across Canada, that this has been a troubling and disturbing trend that we’ve seen, especially this Pride month,” he said. “I think we all know there’s polarization in society right now, both online and in the real world. And there’s conversations that are spilling over into everyday life.”

The chief said the accused had no criminal record and police were not aware of any online activity to support an alleged motive. He said police had sought authorization to search the suspect’s home.

The morning after the stabbings, disquieted students on a largely deserted campus questioned why it took hours for them to receive an emergency alert on what had happened.

Mara Crassweller, a graduate student, said it took about three hours for her to receive an alert through the campus security system.

“I was completely shocked,” Crassweller said while sitting Thursday inside Hagey Hall, where the stabbings took place.

“I’m here every day and I haven’t seen it this quiet in a very long time. It’s kind of eerie, especially in this building right now.”

Brianna Egan, a 23-year-old accounting student, said her class in the same building as the gender studies lecture let out minutes before Wednesday’s stabbing.

“(It) was a bit terrifying to be honest, especially with how long it took the university to respond,” she said.

At a news conference Thursday, a senior university administrator acknowledged the incident alert system “wasn’t activated as quickly as we would have normally expected,” despite being tested earlier on Wednesday.

“It’s a priority for us in the aftermath of this incident to ensure that the co-ordination between the people elements and the technology elements of that system are more finely tuned in the future,” said James Rush, vice-president academic and provost.

Rush called the delay “very unfortunate,” but said it did not affect the response to the attack itself, noting it was contained to the hall and police responded within three minutes.

In a written statement, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the stabbings “horrifying and unacceptable.”

“This type of violence must always be condemned. Our thoughts are with the professor and two students who were injured,” he said.

Waterloo MP Bardish Chagger released a joint statement signed by area MPs Tim Louis, Valerie Bradford and Bryan May to express their “sympathy and solidarity with those who have been affected by this despicable act of violence.”

“Hate crimes have no place in our communities. We firmly condemn such actions and stand united against all forms of hate, bigotry and discrimination.”

Students gathered for a moment of silence in the university’s arts quad later on Thursday afternoon. At the event, the university identified the educator who was stabbed as Katy Fulfer, an associate professor and undergraduate advisor for the school’s gender and social justice program.

Sheila Ager, the dean of arts, said Fulfer is a “loved and respected member of our community.”

“I know many of you know her, the other two students who were injured, and those in the class who witnessed the horrific act,” she said, addressing the crowd.

“Our campus is meant to be a safe place for our students, faculty and staff and yesterday that sense of safety was violated.”

The Canadian Association of University Teachers expressed its shock and profound grief over the violent attack.

“Our sincere sympathies go out to Professor Katy Fulfer, the student victims, and their families,” CAUT executive director David Robinson said in a statement. “We wish everyone a full and quick recovery from their injuries.”

University President Vivek Goel encouraged the use of mental health supports being offered by the school.

Benjamin Loewen, who teaches corporate finance at the university, said that while he personally felt safe on campus, he worried about the well-being of his students.

“I expect in my classes today, there will be less people, some people are going to be afraid, people are going to be distracted. It’s going to have a harmful effect on studying and learning,” he said. “I think in the long run, if we respond appropriately and bond together, then this makes our community stronger.”

There has been an uptick in hate crimes targeting people for their sexual orientation: in 2021 there were 423 reported incidents, compared to 176 in 2016, StatsCan data show.

But experts say those numbers paint an incomplete picture. The actual number of incidents is almost always higher than what’s been reported to police. For example, the advocacy group Egale Canada recorded more than 6,400 anti-LGBTQ protests and instances of online hate in the country in the first three months of 2023.

Embattled London, Ont. Pride protester has sex-related rap sheet
Bubba Pollock has past convictions for obtaining sexual services on two occasions and distributing an intimate image without consent,

A London man involved in recent anti-drag queen protests in Southwestern Ontario has past convictions for obtaining sexual services on two occasions and distributing an intimate image without consent, court records show.

Bubba Pollock, 34, was charged with harassment in two separate cases this month, including for allegedly taking a selfie inside the Windsor hospital room of a critic’s dying father.

In the latest case, Middlesex OPP charged Pollock Tuesday with harassment for an alleged incident at a protest outside a drag queen storytime event at the Parkhill library on April 29. The complainant attended the event, police said.

Court records show Pollock was charged five years ago with sexual assault, distributing an intimate image without consent and two counts of obtaining sexual services for consideration.

One of the charges of obtaining sexual services stemmed from an offence on Jan. 20, 2018. The other charges, involving one female complainant, were related to offences committed on March 22, 2018, according to the documents.

Pollock, who spent nearly three weeks in custody before he was released on $5,000 bail, pleaded guilty to all of the charges except the sexual assault charge that was reduced to an assault conviction, the documents say.

He was given a six-month conditional sentence, 18 months probation, a five-year weapons ban and ordered to submit a DNA sample, the documents say.

Pollock has been a participant in the movement opposed to drag queen storytime events, where men dressed in women’s clothing share 2SLGBTQIA+-themed books and songs at libraries and schools to promote inclusivity and acceptance.

Pollock was part of a group of two dozen demonstrators who gathered outside the Parkhill library for the drag storytime event organized by the Rainbow Optimists and Strathroy Pride. A group of counter-protesters also gathered at the library to to escort people inside the building, where three OPP officers were stationed to keep the peace, according to media reports.

Pollock spoke gave an interview to CTV News at the protest.

“It’s the sexualizing the outfits that they’re wearing while they’re reading to kids, I have an issue with that,” he told the broadcaster.

Pollock previously claimed on social media to be an organizer of a protest against a drag storytime event at the Wortley Pride event on June 10. It’s unclear whether Pollock showed up at the demonstration that drew a larger group of counter-protesters, including one man who wore a sandwich board citing a 2018 London Free Press article about the previous charges against Pollock.

Pollock made national headlines earlier this month after Windsor police say a suspect travelled from London to Windsor and took a selfie with a patient in a palliative care facility.

Investigators allege Pollock “consistently harassed” a 36-year-old Windsor woman, identified by media as Brittany Leroux, over social media about a recent Pride event in London. The patient from the photo was Leroux’s terminally ill father, Andre Leroux.

Pollock is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Parkhill case on Aug. 16.

In May, Pollock was photographed leaving the London courthouse with Shane Marshall, 26, who pleaded guilty to assault for throwing stones at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a Sept. 6, 2021, campaign stop in London.

Marshall, the People’s Party of Canada riding association president in Elgin-Middlesex-London at the time of the attack, was sentenced to 90 days house arrest and one year of probation.

Pollock couldn’t be reached for comment.

I like how even being alpha-betty or gay can't absolve anyone for their white guilt.

And shame on them for commandeering the whole bloody rainbow for themselves!

Aussie transgender woman burns penis while trying to remove appendage
Author of the article:postmedia News
Published Jun 28, 2023 • 1 minute read

A transgender woman in Australia intentionally burned her penis with chemicals in a desperate attempt to remove it, according to a report.

The journal Urology Case Reports described the case of the woman, 57, who required an emergency penectomy after the organ was heavily damaged.

The date of the injury was not given.

In Australia, the national public health insurance Medicare doesn’t cover gender-affirming surgery (GAS). Instead, patients must pay private clinics for operations.

“This case report outlines the surgical challenges of partial penectomy and neo meatus formation to allow for future gender-affirming surgery and highlights the lack of infrastructure within the public health-care system for management of gender dysphoria both in rural and metropolitan settings,” the report authors wrote.

The woman arrived at a rural emergency department seven days after a chemical burn injury with dead tissue at the tip of the penis, the authors said. She was on androgen-deprivation therapy to reduce male hormones, but was unable to continue after moving to a rural town.

She was transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney for further urology and burn assessment.

Doctors there attempted to save the organ, but the burned penis suffered worsening necrosis over the next seven days and it was determined that an emergency partial penectomy was necessary.

Surgeons removed most of the penis and created an opening for the urethra at the base of the penile stump. The woman spent eight days recovering in hospital.

“On discharge, the patient was referred to a transfeminine GAS specialist,” the report said. “There are no post-operative complications to date.”

The woman gave consent for the case report and the use of photos and video.

The “B” above isn’t Bi now, & the “G” above isn’t Gay either. ‘NB’ is Non-Binary, & ‘GD’ is Gender Diverse…& maybe “L” for Lesbian is like the Green Party in Parliamentary discussions as being a thing that exists but is pretty much irrelevant on this topic or in general?

IT’s evolution (I think) of this movement. I read comments on stories and YouTube videos, most of the time anyway, regardless of the topic, for insight, & I’ve sort of suspected that the LGTBQ (is that the original letters?) community after blowing up into a much larger series of letters during Covid, might split into some different divisions. I’m not sure if that’s what’s actually happening currently and that’s what being shown above or this is just some other CBC thing.

Apparently, the News link that I have above is four days old, from Canada’s national government sponsored new service, and yet it’s only got about a dozen comments maybe (?) & you have to scroll down past other links to other new stories in order to find them. Not much of a clue there.

Pgs, I don’t know how old you are, but if you’re finding this confusing, would you find this more or less confusing if you were a ten year old? Twelve year old? Etc…?

The picture in the news story link still uses the old series of letters of LGTBQ but with a “+” symbol instead of this 2STNBGD newer series of letters, so who knows?
