Yeah man. Those fucking annoying straight people with their straight flags and special month and annual straight pride parades and shit. They just won't shut up about themselves being straight.
Precisely! You can't turn on a TV, see a movie, watch a ball game, read a book, or listen to a song without those pesky straights trying to git nekkid and git in a pile.

But ya make ONE MOVIE about cowboys riding on the range, and Ma and Pa Kettle lose. . . their. . . shit.

Yeah, cause it's not like every day since we dropped out of the trees wasn't a "Straight" day and every month has something to do with "Straight" people and every parade is mostly focused on "Straight" issues or "Straight" lives. The only thing "Straight" people don't have is a flag...

... oops.

Now, while I disagree on having a whole month - don't know why it has to be a whole month - and I've never liked Pride parades myself, I also don't "indulge" in either, despite being part of the "Alphabet Soup".

But I also don't GAF that there is a month of Pride and the parades are now more about money and, well to me anyway, just another excuse to have something like Mardi Gras.

If you don't like it, Jin, don't participate, ignore it and move on with your life; just like the Alphabet people had to just 'ignore it and move on' your Heterosexual BS since birth.

For me the issue is the "in your face" shit.

You don't need Pride here then? Cool, it was getting too commercialized and lost its meaning. When are you headed to Mecca to hold Pride at the Cabba?

Yep, full of flags and parades and shit with people happily engaging in simulated humping in public.
and every month has something to do with "Straight" people
Nope.
and every parade is mostly focused on "Straight" issues or "Straight" lives.
OH yeah man, The Rose Bowl Parade, The Santa Claus parade. The Thanksgiving parade. All clearly marked with symbols of hetero-normative people proclaiming how great it is to be hetero.
The only thing "Straight" people don't have is a flag...

... oops.
And of course you see those flags flying over city halls and schools, right?

Only it's paid for by your taxes and mine. Or were you not aware that the fed is giving money to the Alphabet Community just because they're the Alphabet Community.

*Yawn* I never actually gave a shit until I was told I HAVE to give a shit. On top of that my tax dollars are going to support garbage like Pride parades and other pride events.
Yep, we still have at least a couple of dozen communities that still don't have access to drinking water but hey, we got lots of money to hand out to the Alphabet community just because.

Hmm let's see. It's not criminalized in Canada anymore. One's sexuality isn't a crime in Canada. Gay Canadians have been able to legally marry since 2005. And if you're being fired from your job in Canada for your sexuality maybe tone it the fuck down a bit. BY the way, plenty of heteros have been fired for displaying their sexuality in the work place. It's called being a "distraction". But I guess the Alphabet community doesn't have to abide by that. And when disabled people are discriminated against when it comes to housing in Canada, the govt just looks the other way instead of establishing a $100 million "community fund" for them.

Or do you naively think that Pride parades here are going to change a fucking thing in those 72 countries?

You watch some interesting TV man.

Keep in mind, those same types of people lost their shit over Monty Python's Life of Brian sooo....

But here's the thing. Let's look at the "romantic gay comedy", 'Bros'. They made this movie for a particular segment of society. It crashed badly so the star cried and screamed and blamed heteros for the movie bombing.
We have "special interest groups" crying that they can't enjoy a movie or show if they can't identity with the protagonist and so we get race and gender swapping of those roles in "remakes/reboots". But then they make a movie that would only appeal to about 5% of the population and then cry like little girls and get pissed off at the 95% of the population who can't identity with the protagonist(s).
The fuckers need to pick a lane.

Name your show. About 95% of them have love and sex as the primary focus or, at minimum, a major subplot(s).

If you're in denial about that, I don't see much point in discussing how butthurt you are that somebody says something you don't want to hear.

Well, I've seen simulated humping in public by straights so...

But nothing stops them from the flag or parade really, except protests against it. And if they don't do it due to protests well...

Um... you don't get out much then, do you?

OH yeah man, The Rose Bowl Parade, The Santa Claus parade. The Thanksgiving parade. All clearly marked with symbols of hetero-normative people proclaiming how great it is to be hetero.

Wow, you really take things to the extreme a lot, don't you?

But sure, it is; hetero families being able to be out in public and not be harassed and such while other families of GLBTQIA get issues... sure seems like it's "greater" to be hetero to me.

And of course you see those flags flying over city halls and schools, right?

If they want those flags up, they should apply to do so, just like GLBTQIA do. Until then... you're bitching about nothing.

Only it's paid for by your taxes and mine.

Well then, if you don't want your taxes going to Pride, then do something to stop it. And I'll do what I can to stop my taxes going to shit Hetero's care about. Maybe the idea will spread, and no one will have to pay taxes!

Until then... get over it; everyone pays taxes for things they don't like.

Or were you not aware that the fed is giving money to the Alphabet Community just because they're the Alphabet Community.

Sure, just like they give money to other things I may or may not agree with.

*Yawn* I never actually gave a shit until I was told I HAVE to give a shit.

LOL - and yet here you are, still not giving a shit and just being a total grumpy old assed man about it. Please, you're not being 'forced' to do anything. You're just getting flack for consequences and you don't like that.

On top of that my tax dollars are going to support garbage like Pride parades and other pride events.

Aww... cry more?

Yep, we still have at least a couple of dozen communities that still don't have access to drinking water but hey, we got lots of money to hand out to the Alphabet community just because.

I'd rather see the money given to issues like clean water and such, than Pride.

But I don't get to make those decisions outside the voting booth.

I swear, Jin, you just post to bitch and complain but don't even mean any of it, you're just being a grumpy old man who needs, well...

Hmm let's see.

Oh yes, please tell us Jinn.

It's not criminalized in Canada anymore.

I notice that it doesn't give specific countries where being GLBTQIA IS approved...

Only the ones where it ISN'T.

One's sexuality isn't a crime in Canada.

Not a crime.

Still serious acceptance issues.

Gay Canadians have been able to legally marry since 2005.

Yep, and it's not brought our country to ruin like so many thought.

And if you're being fired from your job in Canada for your sexuality maybe tone it the fuck down a bit.

Ah... but are heterosexuals fired for THEIR sexuality?

If they cross a line, maybe.

But in some countries - which this is talking about - just being known to be gay can get you fired, so...

BY the way, plenty of heteros have been fired for displaying their sexuality in the work place.

Really?

It's called being a "distraction".

I suppose if they're overly displaying, they might be. But then, just BEING straight doesn't get them fired. Whereas being gay DOES depending on the country.

But I guess the Alphabet community doesn't have to abide by that.

Oh FFS, you bitch more than a gay guy who bitches about men. Or women.

And when disabled people are discriminated against when it comes to housing in Canada, the govt just looks the other way instead of establishing a $100 million "community fund" for them.

Got specific story on that, including present day discrimination that's still ongoing? I doubt you'd find anyone okay with that kind of situation, but there are those who would be okay with discrimination against GLBTQIA...

Your whataboutism is in full display though, all peacock pretty.
Or do you naively think that Pride parades here are going to change a fucking thing in those 72 countries?

No, I don't. But that's not the point.

It's about celebrating the achievements for GLBTQIA for OUR country, and the others who have similar achievements.

THAT is the point of Pride.

Well that, and Commercialization.

People who lost shit over Life of Brian were idiots.

Back then or today.

But here's the thing. Let's look at the "romantic gay comedy", 'Bros'. They made this movie for a particular segment of society. It crashed badly so the star cried and screamed and blamed heteros for the movie bombing.

Maybe they did, maybe they didn't (never heard of it so don't know). But a star crying over the fact their movie bombed happens a lot... so don't know why this one is any different.

We have "special interest groups" crying that they can't enjoy a movie or show if they can't identity with the protagonist and so we get race and gender swapping of those roles in "remakes/reboots".

Yep. I'm honestly part of the "Leave the old movies alone, stop the reboots" group.

Unless it's really good; the Dune remake is fantastic, IMO.

But then they make a movie that would only appeal to about 5% of the population and then cry like little girls and get pissed off at the 95% of the population who can't identity with the protagonist(s).

Here's a thought - don't like the movie, don't watch it.

Movies don't HAVE to be for 95% of the population. It's okay if they're only for 5%. And that statement goes for BOTH sides of the issue.

Movies are fucking subjective and people need to get over it if they don't like them.

There's lots of movies I don't like (Top of my head: religious movies by Kevin Sorbo or Kirk Camron) and they're only for 5% or less of the population, and... who the hell cares? They get bombed all the time by anti-Christian types...

Where's your whining about that?
The fuckers need to pick a lane.

So do a lot of people. Including you.

I'm posting this because Whoopi makes the point exactly.

And also, for Republicans like Ana and Alyssa... there needs to be more like THEM on the right. Cause if there were I might even agree with them on policies.

Oh bullshit and you know it.

If they STFU and did nothing - like they'd been doing for centuries before now - they'd still be prosecuted, abused, alienated and murdered. At least now they're out in the open and can fight back against the BS instead of just taking it.

OTH, if they just STFU and did their thing instead of being in everyone elses face, no one would care.
They did that down here. And if they got outed, they got fired. They couldn't get security clearances. Couldn't join up. Cops raided their clubs and terrorized them regularly. Texas and many other states imprisoned them. "Good citizens" attacked them, beat them, arsonized their dwellings, and murdered them.

In Texas in 1988, two good, clean, Gawd-fearin' Texans picked up two, took 'em for a ride, and murdered them. The judge gave them the minimum sentence because, and I quote, "it wasn't as if they had killed a mother of kids."

Maybe yours are just copycats and none of that ever happened in Canada, but down here they have reasons.
