So now the Federal justice department is trying to supress evidence?? Trying to discourage people from testifying about what they know and only answer direct questions?

Trudeau has got to be the most corrupt prime minister in our history when it comes to screwing with the justice system for his own benefit.

On Monday, the public inquiry released a letter that justice Thomas Cromwell sent to the federal Justice Department. In his Aug. 5 letter to general counsel Lori Ward, the retired judge wrote that he takes issue with recent testimony from a senior RCMP officer who suggested in the witness box that federal lawyers had told him not to divulge information that he wasn’t specifically asked about.

Come on guys, it’s not SNC Lavatory & Jody Wilson Raybould here…”The Government of Canada is committed to fully supporting the Mass Casualty Commission Inquiry in its important work,” he said.

So, after several weeks of testimony between Parliament and the Mass Casualty Commission, we have a consistent story from every member of the Nova Scotia RCMP who has testified – Campbell, Scanlan, Leather, Bergerman. They all state emphatically that there was political interference in the investigation and pressure to release information officers on the ground thought would compromise the investigation.

On the other side, we have the PMO, Bill Blair and Lucki claiming nothing happened or that there was no undue pressure.

Who are you going to believe?

Four senior Mounties or a bunch of politicians, including Lucki, who wouldn’t know the truth if they tripped over it?

The Trudeau government continues to say it never interfered in the investigation into the Nova Scotia mass shooting, even as senior Mounties say otherwise.

On Tuesday, two senior members of the RCMP, an officer and civilian, testified before a Commons committee about the nature of the interference.

RCMP staff are standing by their claims that Commissioner Brenda Lucki was pressured by the government into publicly releasing information about the 2020 Nova Scotia mass shooting for political reasons.

While Lucki later said this is not the case, it’s telling that both Chief Supt. Darren Campbell and former RCMP strategic communications director Lia Scanlan are sticking with their stories. This became clear at a House of Commons public safety committee hearing on Tuesday.

Nova Scotia Mounties have told Parliament that RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki put politics ahead of policing after Canada’s deadliest mass shooting when she pressed her investigators to make disclosures about firearms in a bid to reinforce the Liberal government’s gun-control agenda.

As his notes indicated, Campbell was called into a meeting with Lucki and other RCMP officers after an April 28 press conference about the shooting. Campbell said Lucki told him she had promised people in the minister’s office and the prime minister’s office that the information would be disclosed.

“She didn’t seem to appreciate or recognize the importance of maintaining the integrity of the investigation.”

Well i don't think any sensible person doubts that there was interference at this point. It's entirely believable from his character and too many cops are telling the same story. But i doubt there's going to be a lot of reprocussion from it other than trudeau's rep will take another hit and his approval will remain low but otherwise not much is going to happen.

How the fuck is this govt still in power?
His tactics work. Divide the population and then convince the larger half in key areas that no matter how bad he is the other guy is worse. That combined with some bad campaigning on the part of the CPC has kept him in power despite the fact he loses the popular vote each time.

Scheer's campaign was one of the worst i've ever seen. And I saw John turner's :) It was a horrible mish mash of confused messaging with no real platform and the occasional policy dropped here and there at random, and he got completely caught off guard by a question about abortion that ANYONE should have seen coming a mile off and been prepared for. And he did stupid things like not disclose his US citizenship even tho he KNEW that dual citizenship is an issue for CPC voters when it comes to the Prime Minister's office.

Erin was doing better but he already got off on the wrong foot by running for the leadership on "true blue" and 'no carbon tax" and then immediately announcing a carbon tax, and going with a very red tory platform. That already made him look inscincere and weakened support, but then he spent 3 days very publically flip flopping on the Gun Control issue. The anti gunners didn't believe him, the pro gunners hated him, and everyone in between decided he looked completely weak and lost interest in him. His polling numbers literally went up just before that and immediately nosedived after. Which he COULD have recovered from but he had NOTHING new to offer in the second half and just kept repeating the talking points everyone had already heard while the media pestered him about where Jason Kenney was.

Trudeau meanwhile managed to weaponize covid and turn all of his supporters into rabid haters of anyone who didn't support mandates and convince people that anyone who wasn't fully vaxxed was an evil person. So he squeaked out another 'lost the least badly' victory. At least he was denied a majority. Well - until the ndp sold out.

That's how. Hopefully polievre will do better and run a strong campaign and have a good first AND second half, and hopefully people will be even more sick of trudeau and we'll get a strong win.

Brenda Luki will not be so lucky and get tossed under the bus. The bus will then b@ck up to ensure there are no more political repercussions.

Political interference should cost commissioner her job

RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki has to go.

Her willingness to potentially jeopardize the criminal investigation into the worst mass killing in Canadian history, just so she could help the Trudeau government push its gun-control agenda, has so compromised her professionalism that she can no longer be trusted to run our national law enforcement agency impartially.

For nearly a month now, there have been reports that following Gabriel Wortman’s murderous rampage through rural Nova Scotia in April 2020, Lucki pressured senior Nova Scotia Mounties to release details about the firearms Wortman used to kill 22 people. She wanted the list released to bolster public support for the federal Liberal government’s campaign to ban assault rifles.

Nova Scotia officers, it’s been reported, pushed back claiming the premature release of such details could make it more difficult for them to figure out how Wortman (who had no gun licence) could have obtained the five guns he used in the slaughter.

This week, all the recent speculation was confirmed when Nova Scotia RCMP Chief Superintendent Darren Campbell testified before MPs on the House of Commons public safety committee.

Campbell, the senior Mountie in Nova Scotia, confirmed that Lucki became verbally abusive with him and other senior officers after they resisted her order to make public a list of Wortman’s guns.

Campbell told MPs that during a meeting with senior commanders in late April (roughly 10 days after Wortman’s deadly spree), “The commissioner made me feel as if I was stupid, and I didn’t seem to understand the importance of why this information was important to go out.”

Campbell admitted Lucki was not alone in pushing for a list of Wortman’s guns. “There was pressure for information from all sides, whether it be the public, the media, government, within the organization itself, but it was clear during that meeting that the commissioner had said that she had made a promise, and that it was tied to the legislation.”

Lucki’s promise to have the details released, Campbell and others have testified, had been made to Bill Blair, the Liberal public safety minister at the time, and to the prime minister’s office.

And “the legislation” Campbell was referring to was the Liberals’ ban on assault-style guns announced just three days after the abusive meeting.

In other words, Lucki had agreed to help the Liberal government with its political agenda — something a police commander must not do.

Police leaders are accountable to politicians. In a democracy, it cannot be any other way. The people elected by citizens must be ultimately in charge of the police.

But, conversely, police leaders are never to seem to take sides on political issues.

You’ve heard of the separation between church and state. There must be a separation between cabinet and cops, too. On the Liberals’ gun ban, there was not.

Lucki may have had the best of intentions. Campbell testified, “The commissioner told my colleagues and I that … this was tied to pending legislation that would make officers and the public safer.”

But whether or not Lucki ultimately had good motives, her first priority should be the integrity of the Mounties’ investigations and her second should be to keep her institution out of the political fray.

She failed at both.

That breach may be recoverable for the RCMP, but it is unrecoverable for Brenda Lucki.

She has to go.

Bill Blair, who is now minister of emergency preparedness, should be dropped from cabinet, too, for not knowing better than to interfere in an investigation and for telling Parliament on several occasions that he never meddled.

And staffers from the PMO should lose their jobs for their role in this scandal.

But don’t hold your breath that anyone will be punished.

The two RCMP officers who held the top jobs in Nova Scotia, and the entire force, during the mass shooting in 2020 are set to testify at the public inquiry into the massacre this week.

Across Monday and part of Tuesday, the Mass Casualty Commission leading the inquiry is expected to hear from Lee Bergerman.

Bergerman, the former assistant commissioner, had recently retired from her role as commanding officer of the Nova Scotia RCMP, which she held across April 18-19, 2020, when a gunman killed 22 people across the province.

RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki is then expected to testify Tuesday into Wednesday.

The commission already interviewed both Lucki and Bergerman in early August.

This is kind of a big deal, but i think most people don't realize how big a deal it is and are kind of just sleeping through it (or have just accepted that the PMO interferes with police and the legal system for political reasons)
