Only because they have a compliant media and many of their major disasters don't get airtime. Like the ALR/ALC disaster. The lack of concern for forestry workers and all the thousands of businesses and communities that depend on logging. The total lack of planing or concern for citizens during the last heat wave. Over 200 died because of lack of ambulances in Vancouver alone in two days.

In theory, yes. In reality no. Rep by Pop only really works when all areas are roughly the same size. For example the lower mainland has more MLAs than the rest of the province combined. The North half of the island has 1 MLA while Victoria has, I think 6 plus surrounding areas having many more. Same thing applies Federally. Too many seats in cities and not enough voting power in large rural areas. One medium sized town has more representation than the entire NWT. This is NOT equal representation. I gotta call you out on that taxslave! Shouldn't the system be "rigged" to give the jurisdictions with the biggest population the biggest clout?
Now obviously it would be prohibitively expensive to break down the large ridings into the size cities get so rural ridings must get more votes based either on sq.km or number of communities represented.
Most of the time there is a huge disconnect between what citiots think and the reality in rural areas.

BUT the entire population north of Campbell River including Gold River and Tahsis up to Cape Scott (and Zeballos) is less than that of Port Alberni and they both have one seat!

The head offices maybe in the lower mainland , but the money is generated in the rural areas . Mining and forestry as examples .

Best check your stats , last I looked forestry was the number one industry in the province followed by mining .
