In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled the federal Liberal government's carbon pricing regime is constitutional — a major decision that allows Ottawa to push ahead with its ambitious plan to ensure every province and territory has a price on carbon to curb greenhouse gas emissions.
Some provinces — notably Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan — have forcefully opposed the carbon tax, arguing natural resources are in the provinces' jurisdiction under the Constitution.
Chief Justice Richard Wagner, writing for the majority, said the federal government is free to impose minimum pricing standards because the threat of climate change is so great that it demands a co-ordinated national approach.

In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court of Canada decided to rule in favour of ideology instead of the Constitution. The federal "backstop" carbon tax will be $50/tonne in 2022. Quebec will be paying less than $25/tonne in 2022. In other words, the federal govt is punishing certain Canadian producers outside of Quebec with a higher tax rate than Quebec has.
Between 1990 and 2018 Quebec reduced it's emissions by a paltry 4.1 MT of CO2 eq, despite introducing a carbon tax in 2007.
In that same period Ontario reduced it's emission by 14.4MT of CO2 eq.
Over that same period BC's emissions increased by more than 10MT of CO2 eq despite having a long standing carbon tax.
While the constitutionality of the carbon tax is still questionable, what isn't questionable in the unconstitutionality of allowing one province to pay 50% less carbon tax than the ROC. The argument here is about precedence. The federal govt has explicitly admitted that $25/tonne is an acceptable rate by allowing to Quebec to only charge $25/tonne. While Ontario, who reduced their emissions by almost 5x as much as Quebec over 28 years without the dubious "benefit" of a carbon tax, gets to pay twice as much.
To put it bluntly, Canada's 3rd largest emitter gets to pay a carbon tax rate that is 50% less than the ROC because...why? And how exactly is that in any way constitutional?
You should probably ask the supreme court how a constitutional decision is constitutional since you clearly don't believe them.

Your loss too idiot. Well maybe not since your parents supply you with everything, but everyone else will be paying carbon tax on their Canadian grown food. Doesn't apply to imports from China and Mexico.
Best I can tell it doesn't apply to exported fossil fuels either. Cause fuel burned in other countries doesn't pollute. Oh, and low income owned vehicles don't pollute either since they get a rebate.
