Yes, but it goes way overboard in its claims. Want a new house? A new car? A better job? Just think correctly about wanting them, visualize yourself with them, with the right mental attitude, and a benevolent universe will arrange it all for you. That should be obvious flapdoodle to any thinking person. Things don't work that way.Positive thinking is the core message from the Law of Attraction, isn't it? I thought so...^_^
How things do work then? In your opinion? ;-) That is not easy, to think in a positive way "ALWAYS". May be, that's why, some people simply don't believe in the Law of Attraction. When you do once: thinking positively, smiling to the world, you will see changes in your life. :smile:Yes, but it goes way overboard in its claims. Want a new house? A new car? A better job? For starters, just thinking about something, positive or negative, won't make it happen, you have to do something about it yourself. Second, the universe is not benevolent. Neither is it hostile, it's just indifferent. It won't arrange anything for you, you have to do it. That's how things work: you want something to change in your life, you have to make it happen, and sitting around positively visualizing and thinking about it won't do it. Third, some people don't believe in the Law of Attraction because it's false. People with a product to sell don't attract other people with the same product to sell, they attract people interested in buying it, assuming the product is worth having. It's true that life is much nicer and more fun if you have a positive attitude, but nobody can be positive all the time, and that's the out for the people trying to sell the Law of Attraction. If you can convince yourself it works for you, great, if it doesn't, it's your own fault for not thinking correctly. They can't lose: both success and failure can be interpreted as proof that it works, which tells me the idea has no propositional content at all. I think it's a stupid idea. How things do work then? I remember reading about that sweat lodge fire, spammie but I don't remember any connection with Rhonda Byrne's The Secret. Will have to do some searches about the story. I've only read the book and watched the documentary and neither of them ever mentioned anything about sweat lodges.i remember hearing about people in a secret fan gathering in a sweat lodge dying. i think it was on 2020, dateline, and 48 hours. if you check those websites it might be still archived there.
A friend does a daily chant of peace, love, happiness and gratitude. Shes happy I think or it might be the daily 26 of absolut. Not sure but shes happy. One of the most important lessons I learned from The Secret is practicing gratitude. The first thing I learned was that it wasn't as simple as just saying you are grateful. To remind myself as I started to practice, I taped this passage. to my laptop lid.
Gratitude
Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful.
Gratitude can transform your life. Are you allowing minor things to get in the way of your transformation and the life you deserve?
May the joy be with you,
Rhonda Byrne
Though I was somewhat skeptical at first, the more I practiced gratitude following the guidelines, the more little miracles kept happening in my life. One of those was when I needed four new summer tires for my car. I had arranged with my mechanic to make two payments which was fine with him. When I went in to make the final payment, I was given the bill with paid in full on it. I thought it was some kind of joke at first but no - someone had paid the balance of my bill to the tune of $485 and change. This summer due to the extra Covid rules around cleaning, the couple I clean for at Canim Lake changed my wage from an hourly rate to a straight full rate - no matter how many hours I put in. There are many other instances of things happening just when they are needed. Suffice to say, I am a believer.
I prefer Iceberg - a lovely Canadian brand, pete but if I drank a 26er a day, the last thing on my mind would be gratitude - more like how the fuck do I get off the damn bathroom floor. LOL I don't chant. Basically I wake up in the morning tell myself this is going to be a great day and thank the Universe for a wonderful nights sleep then get on with the day.A friend does a daily chant of peace, love, happiness and gratitude. I notice though, if you aren't criticizing, blaming, complaining, tense, rushing, or in a bad mood, there isn't much left except totally floored or happy. One of the most important lessons I learned from The Secret is practicing gratitude.
