Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

No it has not. watching Trump push this drug when the side effects are pretty bad to begin with. I think he is looking for an instant cure so this can end and he can focus on regaining the economy. He has no concept of what it takes to get a drug properly tested, before getting approval for use.He should not be a commercial for the drug anyhow........as he is not a physician...........He is presenting it as some kind of magical cure ........and given how gullible people who are afraid are....they would believe him and try it....
He clearly sees this pandemic as as cramping his style and focus. It is an inconvenience and preventing him from taking credit for the economy and attending state visits...........and other publicity stunts. If he really cared....he would educate himself about what works in an unusual situation like this. He does enjoy the powers of being on a self imposed war footing.
And yes....there is a lotto lose by trying the drug with minimal research and clinical trials. Anything like this done in haste is irresponsible.
You are right on Trump but completely miss the point. Getting the economy back on track is the single most important thing if you want to prevent anarchy. A quick cure will not only get people back to work but help prevent rioting , which isn't far away. Of course government employees don't care because they are still getting paid for sitting at home. Many of us are still working helping keep the economy and our sanity.

Government employees still getting paid are spending money.

One can argue that considering that COVID-19 came to America by international travel, it was inevitable blue states would be hit hard initially. People in most red states have never left their county, much less traveled around the World. People in red states are less intelligent and educated than their blue state counterparts.

One could, the rest will just ignore that ones ignorance.

If you watch lame stream news and listen to CBC you would think this is the first plague ever to hit earth. It isn't. There have been many and even several major ones since we started writing things down. This too shall pass, not without many deaths but it will pass.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

How would I feel? Well if I was told that our supply of N95 masks was going to Canada with no explanation I suppose I would be rightly pissed. However, if it were to be explained to me that the medical supply chain was something that saw multiple countries being dependent on one another to maintain, and that the supply chain was a back and forth I may be more accepting of masks leaving my country.
As an example, there is a pulp mill in Nanaimo that produces a product called K10S that is widely used in the manufacturing of medical supplies such as masks, gowns and curtains. The majority of its orders originate from, you guessed it, the good ole US of A, where it is used in the production of the aforementioned (and much needed) medical supplies, some of which are then returned to Canada. You follow me? See where I'm going here? And so if the powers that be as it were, were to explain this it is equally beneficial to keep supply chains open and friendly, I think I could come to see that it really is for the betterment of all parties involved.
Of course by no means do I suggest that a country should deplete its own supply, putting their own population at risk, that would be nonsensical. But since there is a co-dependency in many cases, it would be equally nonsensical for any country to adopt an "it's all mine" attitude. I would rather see countries work together than to retreat into their respective corners.
The first paragraph was plenty because you admitted youd be pissed and secondly, the supply chain conception was brought up by 3M.

3M working with the White House to ease tension was well played.

The big picture is important.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Depends on your version of scientific. You mean the same scientific that gave us Thalidomide? Or a host of antidepressants that cause suicidal thoughts? Those kind of scientific processes.
Oh come on, science doesnt make mistakes. Science is omnipotent and infallible.

No more deaths than the usual flu season.

I stayed tuned to CBC pretty well 24/7 and they haven't given me that impression, but they do cover it quite well! :)

Yes, that was certainly an event where science let us down and very detrimental to thousands - both parents and offspring!

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

I dont worry about the flu, I've had 90% of them and I get a flu shot every autumn. If you're over 40 it's insane to not get the shot.

Excellent advice, Pete, I haven't missed a flu shot in over 30 years and haven't regretted it yet. I haven't had a severe bout of flu since, so needless to say I'm pretty well sold on all sorts of vaccination.
