excellent observations.

He is trying to minimize the situation............almost as if to reassure himself on some level. He does not seem interested in it .........not sexy enough for him. .........If he minimizes it........the population will too. .......because they want to. The facts can be harsh........

That is not to say one should go crazy hysterical about it. But a level of practical commonsense with information gathering would seem to be in order.

He seems to live in a fact less alternate reality where he plays the "hero" His articulation skills are sub standard............ and nonexistent.Sadly he does not INFORM.........he just spins things to favor his achievements...and himself .This is when people need accurate information............presented matter of factly.........so as not to create excessive fear.

and it does not take an"expert" to know that.

I think the most telling thing was when he left the latest press conference before it was even over. If you watch it and watch what he does it's almost... frightening.

And the denials at his rally in South Carolina were just as horrible.

I'm not sure which is worse though, his dismissal of the true scope of this outbreak, or the fact that he put Pence in charge and now it seems like he doesn't have to look like he cares anymore. OR that Pence and others still defend him when I can't see how people think him to be reassuring...

So why don't you and Girth move to Trump Country ............instead of crying your weeping hearts in jealousy .............wanting a LUNATIC for a leader. Maga hatter crazies.
Good luck in Trump country........and leave CDA to those that appreciate it......warts, troubles and all.
It is a delight to know that we have some rational, clear thinking knowledgeable people on here.
I know how to solve this.

Hijack an airliner and fly it into the White House.

Do you want Americans to panic?

Think about that for a few minutes.

Looks like many have already started Pete. People with brains know not to, - wash your hands, suppress any coughing into your sleeve, avoid large crowds and don't do any travelling that isn't necessary and the majority of us will survive this. Just listening to the news lately is bound to work people into a frenzy. Just using common sense, if you think of all the ways there is to die, the Chinese flu numbers are close to the bottom of the list. If you do the four things I mentioned they will likely stay that way.

There's letting the public panic - which is already happening thanks to the interwebs - and then reassuring the people with truth - which Trump has been careful to avoid doing at all costs.

If you watch/listen to the experts vs. Trump, you'll see a HUGE difference in how they're handling it. In that the experts have more of a clue of how to fill the public in than Trump does.

What is "the truth"?

I have been watching and listening. The US military went into "pandemic mode" a couple weeks back.

What "truth" do they know that you dont?

Right. It's not so much preventing a panic as it is outright denial.

So what should be being done that isn’t already ? What should Trump and or the administration be telling people that they aren’t ? What is our Canadian government doing differently from our neighbours?

You should be arrested just for saying something like that. It could be interpreted as "intent" Totally irrational.

but then Trump is known for creating diversions. and his brain washed supporters would go along with it.

What they know is to be prepared. NOT create panic ,but be ready to deal with it. Supplies, facilities , equipment ........in "readiness alert". The "truth" is less relevant than the facts.......... Everyone's "truth " is different.

BTW: there is a Covid 19 threat under the news category .

Yeah, RIGHT, arrest everyone who makes statements like that. Where were you planning on housing them? :) (I know Pete, he probably wouldn't follow through with it) :)

Oh dear. If we arrested every right-wing imbecile who shot his mouth off, we wouldn't have the time or personnel to do anything else.

That's why we generally wait until they kill somebody.

For starters, quit telling people it's a hoax, it'll just stop dead soon, etc.
What is our Canadian government doing differently from our neighbours?
Well, at least Turdeau isn't running around prattling crap that's counter to health authorities like the dipshit down south is.

Trump never said Covid 19 is a hoax, he said the way the Dems are politicizing it is a hoax.

At the same time we have to avoid making it out to be any worse than it actually is? Of course there is a tiny chance it could end up being a total disaster, but we sure as hell shouldn't be dwelling on that. Most of us already know that it's not beyond the realm of possibility that eventually it could be something like this that could be the end of the human race, but we are nowhere near there yet so we should just back off and act sensibly and quit fretting.

Really?

Did you not see/read/hear about any of Trump's news conferences or at his rally's when he mentioned the virus? It's been nowhere near truth from the get go.

Meanwhile, the real officials have been doing the right thing.

Blatantly lying when information is easily available does nothing BUT cause panic. If Trump wanted to handle this right, he would have been up front from the get go, but he can't do that. He doesn't know how.

And now even Pence is covering for him.

Blaming Trump is absolutely ridiculous. He's not an M.D. and probably knows very little more about it than I do. Anyway I have a question for one of you genii, Once you've had the disease are you immune to infections later on?
