Here’s some holiday cheer: Finance Minister Bill Morneau announced that his re-elected Liberal government’s first act would be to cut taxes for most Canadians who earn a paycheck.
Morneau’s move to raise the basic personal amount from $12,069 to $13,229 means the vast majority of Canadians will not pay any tax on an additional $1,160 of income, netting each earner about $138 per year.
(That`s nice but with the LIE-beral carbon tax SCAM eating into the cost of EVERYTHING_ that $138 will last as long as an ice cube in middle of the DIRE Global Warming future that LIE-berals CLAIM is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
That may not seem like a lot, but with the basic personal amount slated to rise to $15,000 over the next four years, the average Canadian family will end up saving about $600 annually. That’s good news at a time when, for many families, every dollar counts.
(And of course that $138 being offered - HAS ALREADY been spent!! One has only to look at the struggle of the frugal Ford govt to prevent civil service union HOGS from COMPLETELY blowing the provincial budget - while at the same time Our idiot Boy continues gathering up illegals as if they were nothing but stray cats and him acting as a crazy cat lady - and dumping the illegals into Ontari-owe funded homeless shelters at OUR expense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

True, the news coming out of Ottawa isn’t all good. Increased Canada Pension Plan premiums will mean more coming off each paycheck that you may or may not benefit from someday in the form of pension payouts. The escalator tax on alcohol means having a drink will cost you more. And of course, in several provinces the federal carbon tax continues to rise while rebates will be lower than projected, meaning Canadians commuting to work, harvesting their crops, and running their businesses will feel the pinch.
(Oh nice - MORE revisions to the carbon rebate SCAM - coupled with HIGHER COSTS for everything!! How fast did your $138 DISAPPEAR?? And of course the LIE-beral love of deficits means that this years borrowing becomes next years TAX INCREASE as the debt wall draws near!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
At least by prioritizing a tax cut, the Trudeau Liberals signalled they recognize regular people are struggling and tried to find a way to help them out a little by leaving a few more bucks in their pockets.
(HOGWASH!! LIE-berals recognize that they require MORE SLEIGHT OF HAND to persuade us they are not such relentless Gravy Grabbers!! The LIE-beral tax machine remains a relentless economy destroying monster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Unfortunately, many provincial and municipal governments have different plans for that money: they want to redirect it right into their own coffers.
(Naturally - we have FOUR LEVELS of govt - but only one level of tax payer!! WE are like victims of competing Mafia clans - each demanding WE PAY THEM FIRST and give them the MOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Bracket creep – where inflation bumps taxpayers into higher tax brackets even though they aren’t earning more money in real terms – is still a big problem in Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Even worse, this year Alberta decided to deliberately de-index their tax brackets from inflation, thereby hitting taxpayers with a sneaky bracket creep tax hike.
(Since the people getting the biggest pay increases are HOGS - what we are seeing with this bracket creep is LIE-beral tax games!! They give HOGS those wonderful pay raises to buy their votes -and then tax back SOME of the gravy for the sake of paying the interest on the gravy they borrowed in the first place- to give HOGS that pay raise!! And the rest of us are left to figure out how to pay the principle on the debt that shameless vote buying LIE-berals dumped on us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The situation is even more dire at the municipal level with many city councils jacking up property taxes. Vancouver raised property taxes by a whopping 7% while Calgary – which this past summer approved a $275-million subsidy for a new arena for the Flames – raised its rates by 7.5%. In Toronto, where Mayor John Tory broke a promise to keep any increases in line with inflation, council voted to increase its building levy by eight per cent over the next six years. Halifax raised taxes by 2.3% while approving $20 million for a CFL football stadium.
(Our cities have a LONG AND UGLY HISTORY of neglecting to repair anything in order to use every penny to buy civil service HOG VOTES!! Water pipes are leaking, roads are buckling, sewers are over flowing, the electrical grid is shorting out, we are allegedly in a “climate emergency” but you would not know it from LIE-beral efforts to build public transit and reduce car use!! And of course the REAL POLLUTION culprit is air travel - which LIE-berals LOVE and refuse to restrict!!!!)
Thankfully, there are at least a few governments not determined to claw back the small mercies the feds are offering. The Ontario government is holding the line on taxes while it grapples with getting its deficit under control and many residents of Newfoundland and Labrador will see significant tax relief after a temporary deficit reduction levy expires this year.
(Ah yes - in many provinces - desperate tax payers have turned to Conservatives in a frantic effort to restore some logic to govt spending!! But the HOGS are fighting every step of the process with Fake News and deceit!! One only has to look at Ontari-owe teachers who are fighting to stop Ford “CUTS” in an education budget that is actually two billion dollars higher than the Wynne-bag LIE-beral version!!!!!!)
(And since when is a bigger budget considered a “CUT”?? It is a “cut” when HOGS do not get as much gravy as they desire - as fast as they THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED to get it!! Such budgets become a “cut” only when UNION HOG PIGGERY is factored in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
It’s encouraging that the Trudeau Liberals made a tax cut their first order of business after being re-elected. Here’s hoping that in 2020, more governments get into the same mindset – so that taxpayers won’t have to see more money put back in their pocket, only to see it immediately plucked away.
