IMO for this Turkey should be kicked out of NATO.

Amen to that.

They've already been refused entry into the EU. Turkey used to be in a keystone strategic position but time and technology have made them less so.

The dangerous part is that they have the second largest military in NATO and they may be a pretty good fit allying themselves with the Russians.

Maybe, Trump is following another Russian script. That thought keeps coming up every time he blurts bizarre inanities and calls them foreign policy.

I thought you were all going with the only 50 or 100 troops there.

Did you miss the email?

Why would I know details of American deployment ? Why would I care . I don’t even know or care about Canadian troop deployment.

I guess that they want to make a point.

Does Turkey really belong in a NATO alliance of like-minded liberal democracies?
it's very questionable..

Putin is quite influential on the Turkish leader.

the motive that Trump gave for removing the troops does not pass the smell test.

Why would Trump want to help ISIS like this?
Not sure that it was the intended result. It goes to his understanding......er .....lack of the overall situation and the consequences of his decision. By the military's sand point.....those who understand the complexities of that region and situation....It was a very bad decision... because of the consequences as they are unfolding. The consequences could have and should have been anticipated....in" what if scenarios "

The thing is that no one knows what transpired in that call between Trmp and the Turkish leader .....following which he made that decision. The Turkish leader had been speaking to Putin before that phone call.......so one can assume that Putin has some influence on that decision. The decision was IMPULSIVE....on the surface.......and THEN iit was "justified / rationalized" by Trump gang. This whole thing seems suspect.....given how it happened and the parties involved. Trump does not have a grasp / knowledge of these situations......and should rely on his military divisors......but he does not.

I bolded the exact point of everything to do with Trump's lack of understanding.

He does not, ever, think in what if's.

His impulsiveness is risking lives (Turkey attacking Kurds with US forces nearby still on the ground, almost hitting them, but hey, oops, sorry they didn't mean to).

Trump doesn't care, at all.

Plain and simple.

Trump doesn't care, at all.

No he does not. but his concern is only for himself...and retaining power.

He does not seem to grasp the fact that these characteristics (and others ) are destroying his presidency.

He has never grasped the "service" part of the job. He is to serve the people and the nation ........not himelf.
