Minor anomaly, wood will always be in demand world round and with forests burning up the price can only go up.

Oh this is a bit more than a minor anomaly, JLM. 27 mills have shut down. Hundreds of mill workers, loggers, logging truck drivers and every single business that those workers and the mill supported are affected. This is a really big blow to numerous communities here in the Interior and the North. This is solely due to the NDP/Green government's re-writing the rules around forest tenure making it all but impossible for forest companies to remain competitive.

I don't disagree, however, this would require that all regions be on the same page in many/most aspects of trade.

As it stands, we are quite a ways apart
Always have been . The railway that was supposed to bring us together simply opened up Ontario to the Orient .

Not a chance. If Alberta ever left the confederation, I would be surprised if Manitoba and Saskatchewan did not follow suit. There are many of us especially in the Heartland and Northern parts of the province who would vote to go with Alberta and leave the Left Coast to its just desserts.
Hey no fair. It is not our fault the world rejects infested our coast and we're given the right to vote.

Why are even walking free in this country?

You claim to have "dual" citizenship, yet you have vowed to destroy Canada, so therefore you are not Canadian. You are an enemy alien trying to solicit sedition by using public media.

You should be under arrest, deported, stripped of any claim to being Canadian and your assets in this country should be seized, immediately.

Since you don't love it, leave it, you filthy traitor.

... and don't come back, freak.

Seriously.

Fukc off.
And you wonder why ?

NWT and YT won't want to be stuck, they'd join the flat 3.

Orchards are an oddity, another 3 mills closed yesterday, the salmon aren't coming home, you can't get close to whales and tourism is dieing.
Come now . The cherries flying out of YVR on a daily basis would make your head spin .

I meant in the great scheme of things. We've been hit with devastating forest fires two years in a row, added to mountain pine beetle kill...something HAD to give. MacKenzie is in dire straits, may have to find another industry. I was surprised when I checked the population yesterday (around 3,000)………….40 years ago it was about 7,000 if I remember correctly.

Trucking logs to newer more efficient mills is a big part of all this .

The reason we pay the WB $30B/yr for useless interest is because if we didn't it would cost us $60B in 'lost wages'. The loans they are going to give out need to have useless environmental spending for things that are unimportant. The reason, it employs 2x as many people for 2x as long as the contract should. Make work extras are standard or everybody sits at home on welfare. That may not be as bad as it sounds as networking would make interaction with others possible but going to a site would not be part of it. Pro-anything has the best facilities for the game but what is missing is the bleachers and the parking lot. The money the players get would be 2x what welfare pays and the audience would pay very little for a season pass that allows interaction as well as being able to choose which camera you watch the match through. At home voting would be something that is not available today at any stadium so all steps are not backwards.

The cost of anybody leaving is simply too much. Cleaning out the corruption in the existing centers can be done if it includes the top and really, if it doesn't start there what is the use??

We know there is going to be a demand for dimensional lumber sooner rather than later. The technology is in place now to build high rises up to 20 storeys out of lumber.

Using laminates. Does BC have the laminate market cornered or do we need to look to German, Japanese and Scandinavians for that tech?

Just how do 'we' know that?
There are a lot we could do to fix up the Indian Villages around Hudson Bay. A task Canadians will not do as it takes a few pennies out of out pockets. 40,000 people need new warm dry homes, why not subsidize that as it needs fixing from the bottom up. If the people doing the repairs are from all over Canada the program will have more success than in the money is not given to just companies in Ontario and Quebec as that if how the mess began.
If we are willing to let some Canadians rot from cradle to grave why do you expect the rest of Canadians to be rewarded for that. (by the people who designed all of this)

How many trees do the Germans and Japs have?
As many as they can import, ie Russia has as much spruce as we do and they are right next door rather than a month with the fasted ships. Who would you buy from?
When the US cracks open we will be invaded by 'many American refugees'. We can try and stop them (won't be successful but it will be expensive) or buck the system and welcome all of them by giving them a home and a 20 year loan when they cross the border. The east is full, the west is wide open and flat until you hit the Rockies. What should be different is the towns should be built in 'uneven ground' and the flat parts saved for crops and such.
