the higher the price of gas the greater the impetus to switch to alternative energy.

gas prices in Vancouver are not coming down , ever.

And that's a good thing,
We power our economy with clean green hydro electricity. Why do you want to clear cut mountain tops to add windmills ?

I think I went through this the other day.

It went something like "your computer is made from plastic therefore you have to support the trans mountain pipeline."

You must all take classes together.

Not really .

They are closing down one of the main arteries into Vancouver for the duration of the summer . This will result in longer tie ups at all other chokepoints creating more pollution . The reason for this closure ? Why a pipeline of course . Is anyone going to be out there protesting ? Nope this is a good pipeline , I mean natural gas is a more benign pollutant ,right ?

You don't walk the walk. And try as you might, you are not good at twisting the words of others. You said that they only way to change is to change. But you haven't changed.

What you did was try to twist the argument around by suggesting that just because you use a computer, fossil fuels, the Internet, electricity, etc. that you're exempt from all this prattle about changing. The only way to change is to change, is what you wrote. But you don't practise what you preach. You haven't changed, and will not. You couldn't give up your creature comforts, central heat, electricity or the Internet. The polite thing would be to call you two faced. The truth is, you're a troll.

You are someone who rarely provides proof of your assertions, yet you expect that everyone must believe you implicitly. The fact is, you fit the definition of an Internet troll. Proof of this is displaying the people that you have blocked. Like that means anything, You read the posts anyway. That's more childish you put on display.

Fewer and fewer people talk to you. Only a fool would trust anything you say. It's easy to understand why you have so few friends on this site. I think you should go back to a high school board where you might be believed.

It certainly is if your pension plans are heavily invested in oil. Just lapping in the loot.

COMMENTARY: Pipeline opponents are losing — deservedly so

It’s hard to tell through all the noise, but opponents of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project are losing – and with each major decision that comes down, they fall further behind.

Not everyone’s going to be happy about that fact, but that’s something to be sorted out in the political realm. Those who’d prefer Canada not build pipeline infrastructure can choose to support politicians and parties who share that point of view. Otherwise, though, the rule of law needs to prevail. And so far it is.

It’s still within the realm of possibility that the Trans Mountain project could be derailed, but at this point, that would need to likely involve either the Liberal government suddenly getting cold feet or the company losing patience and pulling the plug. So far, though, the Liberals haven’t wavered and the company appears to be adjusting to the delays they’ve encountered thus far.

As it stands then, things are proceeding as they should. This pipeline project went through an exhaustive National Energy Board (NEB) review and was approved with a number (157, to be exact) of conditions. It has faced numerous legal and regulatory challenges and withstood them all. If such a project is still not worthy of a green light, then truly none are.

Most recently, we had the NEB rule that the city of Burnaby’s bylaws do not overrule federal jurisdiction in this area — a decision that the Federal Court of Appeal let stand. In February, the NEB issued three separate decisions that clear the way for construction of the project to begin at the Burnaby Mountain tunnel entrance. We also had the B.C. Supreme Court issue an injunction to keep protesters from blocking work sites. And that injunction is being enforced, as MPs Elizabeth May and Kennedy Stewart can attest to.

And where are the victories that pipeline opponents can point to? The NDP-Green coalition that took power in B.C. looked to be a boost to pipeline foes, since both parties had campaigned against the pipeline. But so far, their pushback against the project has fizzled – not surprisingly, since the province doesn’t have much of a constitutional leg to stand on.

Frankly, pipeline opponents have been losing ever since Nov. 30, 2016 – the day when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his support for the Trans Mountain pipeline project. That wasn’t just a go-ahead goal, it was more like multiple hat tricks in a single period. The side that has the backing of the federal government is the side with a considerable lead.

Trudeau’s approval was not a fait accompli, and it was a decision that entailed a fair amount of political risk. Having angered pipeline opponents, it would be political suicide for Trudeau to turn around and anger pipeline supporters by abandoning the project altogether. He’s locked into this.

No one is — or should be — surprised by the fact that opposition to this project exists. That’s been obvious all along.
We also knew that the pipeline expansion would be challenged and would be protested, and therefore nothing that’s happened so far should be surprising, either.

No one is under any obligation to enthusiastically embrace this project, but nor is there any reason why the NEB process and federal authority should be tossed aside. This project is needed and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be built.

Horgan has got himself behind the 8 ball. He promised to stop the pipeline and Site C. He found stopping Site C wasn't going to work and had to break a promise to all his supporters so now he's frantic to keep the promise to derail the pipeline, otherwise he won't have much support left. He's already made on major gaffe in taking the tolls off the bridges. His time ain't long!

The building trades unions are non too happy with Horgan today. But then the dippers haven't represented non government workers for 25 years or so.

I love you , that is why you live in a modern house that keeps you warm in winter by burning natural gas . That is why I drive to work each morning to put food on your table and edumacation in your head . If I hated you I would divest myself of all worldly goods and go live in a tent in the forest , you wouldn’t have regular meals or fancy clothes .

Trudeau and co. threaten Saskatchewan while rewarding B.C.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has a simple question, why is the federal government willing to threaten to withhold funding from his province for opposing a carbon tax but won’t do the same when British Columbia is blocking a pipeline.
“We don’t think that is an advantageous way to discuss with the provinces,” was the answer from Bill Morneau, Trudeau’s finance minister. Morneau was on CTV’s Question Period this weekend and told host Evan Solomon that threats were not the way to go.
“This idea of threats is not helpful. We’re instead going to be focused on getting the project done, I want Canadians to know that we will do that, and do it in a way that addresses the issues, which we’ve done through things like the oceans protection plan,” Morneau said.
Pressed by Solomon on why he thinks threatening one province is okay and not the other, Morneau actually rolled his eyes. You can watch for yourself at the 5:30 mark. Try to avoid punching your computer or throwing your phone, the dripping disdain will make it hard. “Suffice to say Evan that I don’t see those two things as analogous,” Morneau said. “I think we share the view of the Saskatchewan premier and the view of so many Canadians that this project is in our best interest.”
The Trudeau government has threatened to withhold $62 million from a low carbon fund for refusing to sign off on the carbon tax while British Columbia was handed a $4 billion infrastructure fund payment while in the middle of blocking a multi-billion dollar infrastructure project. So just like Alberta gets different treatment than Quebec, British Columbia gets different treatment than Saskatchewan. It is easy to understand, the Liberals win seats, or have the potential to, in Quebec and British Columbia while they win little in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The provinces that reward them with seats get carrots, the ones that don’t get the stick.
Voters on the prairies skeptical of Trudeau because of his father’s actions now have a reason to distrust him for his own actions, or lack thereof.
The Trudeau government has refused to act on this issue in any meaningful way despite the constitution clearly saying that something like a pipeline that crosses provincial borders is within federal jurisdiction. Of course the constitution also says I should be able to take beer across a provincial border and the Supreme Court just ripped that up with Trudeau’s help.

Not seeing the carbon tax and pipeline thing being the same thing.

Perhaps if I had a head injury.

BREAKING: People in Victoria just started off the week by blocking access to the Canada Revenue Agency offices in the BC capital city.

This bold action is a demonstration of the massive opposition to Justin Trudeau's proposal for a multibillion dollar bail out for the Kinder Morgan pipeline funded by Canadian tax dollars.
