Christianity itself is dead, especially as an influential force in social issues and politics. Abrahamic religions are highly apocalyptic, especially Islam. But Christianity has become ‘tamed’ over time as it was adapted by the Roman Empire and enjoyed position of power and prestige in Europe and then beyond through colonialism. But apocalypticism is generally detested by those in positions of power and priviledge. Yet apocalypticism is the feature of Religion which makes it attractive in the first place. Since Christianity has become irrelevant as a force for influencing the people, hence why agnosticism and irreligiosity has spread very fast in the so-called Christian West. Today Christianity is simply a highly personalized religion, especially the Evangelical variety of it. Islam, however, is much more dynamic force in the political and social sphere, apart from the personalized devotions and spirituality that are common to all other religions. In the Abrahamic religious perspective, the faithful are suppose to go against the grain and defy those entrenched with power and material wealth. Even Jesus said “The world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world” (John 17: 16). But when we look at Christianity today, we see that Christians are very much part of the world, in fact they dominate the world. Christendom is the Roman Empire, it is the ‘Whore of Babylon’. So this conflict between Heaven and Hell is such that the powerful but corrupt powers of the world are actually on the wrong side of history. When the Messiah comes he will exact retribution against these powerful nations.

Do me and everyone else a favour by not posting your religious nonsense outside the spirituality section. No one except you gives a damn about what you think Mohammed said.
