What is wrong with a two tier health system?

I understand the system and entitlements, I worked in healthcare for ten years. You will find many healthcare professionals that feel the same way I do about our system.

So, do you just want an answer to the question you posed then? I would give you one, but I suspect that you really want to change the system and not simply ask the question, "What is wrong with a two tier health system?"

I will return to one of my previous responses. Are there any agencies or groups that are working to change the present healthcare structure to your satisfaction? If not, you should start one.

It's "the entitled" as yourself who over use it.

If you stub your toe you don't need the ER.
Are you referring to me? The only time I went to an ER was for appendicitis. ER's cost $400 just to get registered.

I do want to change it but it's an uphill battle when people believe they're getting free stuff. Bread and circuses is what keeps the proletariat dumbed down.

How about you? Would you like to see the system changed?

Hate? Morons like yourself have a one track mind. You gonna call me a racist next, you predictable ass.

The truth hurts your delicate sensibilities?
No, but assholes who scream at people who they disagree with are always, predictably, right wingnuts and you sound very familiar, like someone who has been banned, trying to sneak back in like Avro does. I'm sure it won't take long until you out yourself.

Projections are for low IQ morons. I see you're one of them.

I have no party affiliation. Conservatives are war-loving morons that want a nanny state to keep them safe, as opposed to Liberal morons who want the nanny state to keep them fed.

I believe that the only good politician is a dead politician.

Screamed? I never scream, little girl.

Btw, I don't see Cons screaming and burning stuff to the ground so people won't be able to speak their mind. That's a new Liberal tactic and an Antifa trait, and they're progressive children.

You don't get out of mommy's basement too often, eh.

Cliffy is not worth the bother. He is a bitter old man, who I suspect is improperly medicated. If you haven't noticed his hateful ways yet, stay tuned.

WRT to your post, humans are fearful of change. Especially if it's something that they do not understand.

For example, look how long it took to create nurse practitioners, or allow pharmacists to administer flu shots? My father was a pharmacist. He had a far, far better understanding of drugs, their effects on the body, interactions, etc. than any doctor I ever met. That was his profession. Long before drug stores advertised that they checked for drug interactions, my dad would phone doctors and advise them on prescriptions he received that were potentially harmful to a patient.

We are slow to change. Then of course there is the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Ontario College of Pharmacists that you have to get onboard. These groups don't like "unqualified" people poking around in their affairs.

It's usually the nurses that want change while doctors are complacent.

You've hit the nail on it's head in regards to the OCOPAS, they're snooty dicks whom I've dealt with in the past.

I'm sure we both have stories about them that would shock the general public. When I was younger, I golfed with my father and many doctors almost every week. They talked shop, naturally, but I was always fascinated to hear their billing stories. Especially the discussions about fees charged when a GP referred patients to a specialist. Get out of family medicine and become a specialist!

It's always good to make more money, but the way they talked, most doctors felt that they were being hard done by with the OHIP billing rates. They were never getting enough. It wasn't about providing care. It was about making more money.

I'm entitled to the healthcare I pay for. $12,000 per year is a hell of a lot of money for shoddy healthcare.

I'm 45 years old.

Why are you paying $12000 a year for healthcare? You must have 16 kids on the plan!

You got that right! I'm surprised he hasn't been shunted already. :)

You are not understanding so let me explain it to you.

This is a debate forum, right?

I'm not whining, I'm making a point on how to make healthcare in Canada better for everyone.

Can I not work to change it by first explaining it in this forum and maybe find like-minded individuals?

Hope that helped?

You can begin by telling us why you are paying 12 grand a year. My guess would be either you are accident prone or you are stupid or more likely a little of both or even more likely a lot of both! :) :) :) :)

I think he means that he is paying $12,000 a year in taxes. OHIP is not a separate charge on pay stubs like it was years ago.

I'm all for immigrants coming into Canada and I understand they are vital. What I'm not for is abuses of our system by people that don't live in Canada and only come here for their free healthcare and to receive a pension payed for by the Canadian taxpayer, these abuses are more common than you think.

Somehow I don't think those people are as common as you think they are. First, in order to have a pension you have to pay into CPP. Some of them might qualify for OAS, but they have to live here several years to qualify for that. Also if they are landed immigrants they would have to qualify as immigrants that Canada wants. Check out the application form for immigration and see if you would qualify.

Interesting. Could you give me a link to some authority exempting immigrants from Canadian taxes?

I don't think he is going to be able to do that. I know several immigrants and they certainly do pay taxes.

Then he's too stupid to be engaging in this forum!
You may think you're only paying $400 or $900 in health premiums because the government tells you so but you're really not. You're actually paying a lot more. That $12,000 is just a percentage of my tax bill that I've allocated to my healthcare charge.

If their income is low they don't pay GST. Well actually they get a rebate based on income not expenditures so it is possible to come out ahead on that one.

Well then, there's the solution to your bitching about taxes. Lower your income. Because it's so great to be poor.

I've already posted a link above for what immigrants cost the taxpayers. At last count it was $23 billion dollars. That's a whole lot more money than they've actually paid into the system.

Of course not. It's true because he KNOWS it's true. Don't need no commie librul facts to know what's true!

I've already posted a link above for what immigrants cost the taxpayers.

Which was completely irrelevant to your claim that immigrants don't pay taxes.

Excuse me but I'm not the type of person to shut down someone's right to an opinion like the left are doing using cowards like Antifa to intimidate people to conform to their viewpoints.

Of course not. It's true because he KNOWS it's true. Don't need no commie librul facts to know what's true!

It's very relevant when new immigrants cost people $23 billion.

Of course immigrants pay taxes but they haven't paid nearly enough for the services they use upon arrival.

Many of those who work in healthcare would like a two-tiered system, because they could them make much more money, and have a better lifestyle.

Of course immigrants pay taxes but they haven't paid nearly enough for the services they use upon arrival.

Oddly enough, babies don't pay nearly enough for the services they use upon arrival either.
