Re: A Ban is the wrong path
"No. What I am saying that is this. Most Muslims don’t want anything other than to pursue the same dream as the rest of us. Raise a family, buy a car, a house, maybe start a business and live in relative safety. I’ve got a very good friend who I have known since I was 10 who just happens to be Muslim. He is the typical Canadian, he is a business man, he’s a humanitarian man, and he is community minded. He also happens to be one of the most articulate individuals I know and sense of humor? Man, he can make you laugh. He is neither a terrorist or an extremist."
Maybe there really are moderate Muslims who are Muslim in name only just as there are Catholics and Protestants who are non-participating members. . But the fact is that too many terrorist attacks have been committed either by Muslims or by individuals radicalized by Muslim ideology to be ignored.
It is well known that not all but most Muslim countries are ruled by Islamic law which is entirely incompatible with the Constitutions of Western countries. Western country's law punishes crimes. Islamic law punishes sins as crimes and makes no differentiation between the two.
If one is a devout Muslim the Quran is absolute, his religion controls his whole life. The Quran states that the ultimate goal of Islam is to become the one true religion of the world. No non-Muslim is going to bow to that.
We have many, many religious denominations here who live together peacefully and obey the laws of the land. None are singled out for suspicion except Islam. As a peaceful and tolerant society, one would have to say that there is a reason for that.
We see in foreign countries that Muslim sects fight and kill each other over their different beliefs. If their beliefs are that important to them that they will kill their own people how can we think that they would not seek to eliminate Atheists, Christians, Jews, Mennonites, JWs, Mormons, Sikhs, Buddists and any other religions group that they disagree with?
Respect and trust have to be earned. The onus is on Muslims to get their act together, stop killing and terrorizing before they will be fully accepted into any secular society.
It isn't enough for those who come here to say, "But WE are peaceful" while others of their religion demonstrate that they are not peaceful. Who is to be believed?
