Correcting the illiterate would be denying him his rights. As for the school board, they are part of the problem not the solution.

I supposed she could have alerted him of the error privately if possible, but even without that, that alone is still not a reason to fire her. However, it turns out she had her social media privileges revoked first and ignored that, and that was the real reason she was sacked. Plus she was a new employee. I'm still in two minds about it, it depends on other factors that might not have been mentioned in the article etc. Did the district overreact? Again, i don't know. depends on details.

Earlier this month, a student tweeted @FCPSMaryland – the official Twitter account of the district – to request that school be closed “tammarow.”

Nash used the @FCPSMaryland handle to issue a corrective response: “But then how would you learn how to spell “tomorrow”?”

Teachers? All it says is school employee. That could even be a janitor - different union

If you read the article she was web media coordinator or something like that. She tweeted a spelling correction with a :) and the school board told her to stop using twitter. She ignored and was fired. But a social media/web coordinator without twitter access is kind of stupid.

School boards are elected on the eenie-meenie-miney-moe principle anyhow

...and if she was fired that easily, she wasn't union - backing my statement

I'll bet it was a secretary. You know, the ones that work in offices, making phone calls about stuff. And things sorta like stuff, but more like school jazz and junk. And related things to stuff, like fluff.

Hello, this is Ms. Phist from your son's school. He's involved in stuff, and things like that. Tell him to stop or the principal is gonna phone you good. Good hard hard. He's gonna lay a phone call on you like you've never eared before, or something like that. Totally bad and hard and hurty. Super hurty. k?
