Afterwards God explained about their flagrant crime of their idolatry when they worshiped the calf statue:
Quran 2: 54. {And [remember] when Moses said to his people [who worshipped the calf]: "My people, you have indeed wronged yourselves a by your taking the calf [as a god for worship]:

54 e i.e. better for you than refusing to do it; because the compliance to your Lord's commands will lead to forgiveness of your sins; while the refusal to do so will lead to your punishment.
54 f i.e. it is His favor on you that He accepted your repentance, and allowed your killing only, and did not postpone your punishment to the Next Life, so that you will be destroyed in Hell.

Then a thunderbolt

That is, without a doubt, the funniest thing I've seen on the Interwebs in a long time! But don't give selfsame any ideas. Can you imagine a mosque filled with birds, being forced to listen to that incessant chanting? What would have made this a superlative video is if the videographer put a tiny taqiyah (prayer cap) on the parrot's head.
I think that would be grounds to phone the animal shelter and have the imam charged with animal cruelty!
