Jays stunk the joint up again tonight.
Gibbons ejected 2nd game in a row. Didn't help.

yes they were, pitcher threw at bautista, that was the beginning, then bautista slid into second baseman,
second thing that happened, yeah, just because of the bat flip, I saw the bat flip, and the texas team
shouldn't be such wimps, he wasn't doing it to them, he did it because he was stoked at his hit, it
was an important hit, I could read his look as he flipped the bat, 'A L L R I G H T', that is what
he was thinking, "I did it", it was sheer excitement at what he did, nothing to do with doing anything
to the other team. get over it texas, jeesh.

I hear Joey is appealing. Texas right- hander Matt Bush received a fine for "intentionally throwing at Bautista and causing warnings."
So Chavez gets 3 games for hitting a batter and Bush gets a fine?????

My decades as a Rider's fan have prepared me well for times like these. It will pass. That said, after watching Stroman tonight, I am wondering how Dickie will fair tomorrow.
It looks like they broke even with 5 suspensions and/or fines for each team.

My take on Chevez was that he plunked him after the warning. My guess it will wind up being a 2 game suspension after appeal.
Gibbons 3 games was obvious. Ejection means ejection.
So overall, the only suspension I really question is Batista's. But he will appeal and likely ask Gibby when his next off day would be and drop the appeal right before that day and just get it out of the way.
I'm with Buck Martinez on this - should have been 10.

I think it comes down to can MLB take into consideration what is happening between the lines? We all know that this was a retaliation against Batista beating them last ALDS. But on the surface it was just a hit batter. And the umpires issues warnings at that point (proper protocol although I would change the protocol to only warn the offending bench). In that scenario, the fine is appropriate.

That is why Chevez was ejected. The suspension is under discretion of the commissioner. I think it is a bit harsh (he just plunked Fielder with a offspeed pitch -- not a fastball at his head). I personally don't see how the commissioner can be as dense as he is being but they have obviously chosen not to read between the lines on this.
Finally, a game where I can devote myself to watching the Jays and only the Jays. Apparently, the Twins are not doing so well themselves and talking-heads say that the Jays should do well against them. Make it so.

So, the secret is to take the game to extra innings...............crafty........sort of wear them down by attrition. :lol:
