Authoritarianism, always latent in progressivism, is becoming explicit. Progressivism’s determination to regulate thought by regulating speech is apparent in the campaign by 16 states’ attorneys general and those of the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, none Republican, to criminalize skepticism about the supposedly “settled” conclusions of climate science.

Four core tenets of progressivism are: First, history has a destination. Second, progressives uniquely discern it. (Barack Obama frequently declares things to be on or opposed to “the right side of history.”) Third, politics should be democratic but peripheral to governance, which is the responsibility of experts scientifically administering the regulatory state. Fourth, enlightened progressives should enforce limits on speech (witness IRS suppression of conservative advocacy groups) in order to prevent thinking unhelpful to history’s progressive unfolding.

Excuse me....nothing to see here. No big-brother thought police in your future. Do not concern yourselves with anything you might think is leading to a police state. Move along now!

If you're a climate skeptic, then you are guided by the balance of evidence.

That's why climate skeptics actually support the proposition that AGW exists and those who don't are called deniers.

Thank you for that clarification. My experience is that the
two terms seem to be used interchangeably much of the
time. Good to see that there is a difference.

The ecofascists are becoming much like the religious leaders in the dark ages. Disagree with the cult leades and you will be burned at the stake. Or worse.

Forbes Welcome

But a lie is as good as the truth if you can get someone to believe it. More importantly it makes the other side spend a lot of energy to attempt to get the truth out. The tree huggers did an amazing job of this inthe 1980s and to an extent still do. WHile they were spreading lies around the world, often with financing from BC forest industry competitors we were too busy earning a living to pay much attention until it was too late.WE knew the truth and being busy just assumed that everyone else would as well and foolishly tried to negotiate with them. Big mistake. WHen my wife move here from Germany in the mid 90s she believed BC was a vast moonscape while nothing could be farther from the truth.

Goebbels was a master at exactly this.

Lots of parallels here that are uncomfortably similar between the ecotards and the aforementioned individual and his group

Wrong! Climate skeptics support the idea that climate change does indeed occur. They are skeptics because they don't believe that man is necessarily the primary driver of climate change. And there's plenty of evidence to support that position.

Let's look at ocean acidification for one. Now, some like to argue that volcanoes are responsible for more CO2 than man, which is wrong. Or is it? You see, in one respect volcanoes are analogous to icebergs. What you can see above the water is just a tiny fraction of what's below the water. Same with volcanoes. The number we can see above the water are just a fraction of the total. There are an estimated 20,000 submarine volcanoes, vents, stacks and smokers. Many of the ones we've seen are quite active. These are what's causing ocean acidification.
For proof, there's a fairly large stretch of water around Italy that is completely devoid of life. The cause is a vent in the sea floor that is pumping out 99.7% CO2. The vent isn't particularly large but the release of CO2 is constant and has been going on for years. This scenario is likely playing out in other under water locations as well.

I think people have forgotten that we live on a dynamic, living planet with an ever changing climate. The idea that we can "prevent" climate change by "combatting" it, is like thinking we can put and end to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. It's silly, it's insipid and a complete pipe dream.

I'm happy to call myself a AGW denier. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see this the entire tawdry pseudo scientific construct cannot stand up to honest scientific scrutiny.

That's is why the promotion of the fraud has taken on the character of a smoke and mirrors show, with an ever changing cavalcade of images, predictions and examples that immediately disappear and are replaced when they fail to support the thesis.

It is propelled now by fear mongering, lies.. as an increasingly desperate AGW industry.. whose jobs and academic credibility are now under threat of exposure.. are now trying to control the message by force and intimidation.

Even more worrying is the the devastating economic effects of the solutions to AGW, which involve limitations of food, energy, industry.. which will impoverish billions. It's no surprise that the Global Free Market Cartels are now behind something that will enhance their profit equation by producing huge and desperate populations that they can exploit.

AGW is not just bad science, without an ounce of truth.. it is Evil.

It is about money. A chance to steal and get a sweet gravy train going has clearly trumped science.
