Yes, petros, I have been to Pride. What's your point?

Did it alter your world and keep you from stringing yourself up from the shower curtain without JT being there?

Or did you find it more like a job fair?

Was any teen saved from the darkest depths of CUPE?

Wonderful news! Just over a decade ago, the government of The Right Hon. Paul Martin P.C., Q.C. tooks steps to make civil marriage legal irrespective of gender. It seems appropriate and fitting that it, too, would be a Liberal prime minister to be the first to attend the Toronto Pride Parade.

This demonstrates that The Right Hon. Justin Trudeau P.C., M.P., the Prime Minister, is committed to the rights and freedoms of all Canadians; he celebrates, with us, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; and he seeks to create a Canada where LGBTQ Canadians are free of discrimination and persecution on the basis of sexual orientation.

Because it's the first time that a sitting Canadian prime minister has attended that pride parade with a message of "Actually, yeah, it's totally okay to be an LGBTQ person in Canada." Let's not forget that it was not so long ago that diverse sexual orientations were forbidden by law; in the context of Canadian history, the recognition of the rights and freedoms of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans* Canadians is fairly new (as is the Charter more generally).

The fact that it's 2016, and this is the first time a Canadian prime minister is going to be attending that pride parade, is why it holds meaning. The fact that folks on this forum are so comfortable with systemic discrimination against queer people, even here in this thread, is why it holds meaning.

Bull****.

That kind of homophobic garbage, where you perpetuate the idea that to even behave decently toward an LGBTQ person is in and of itself something indicative of homosexuality, is exactly why systemic discrimination continues to put up walls and barriers for LGBTQ people being fully engaged in our country's institutions and political systems.

"You went to the pride parade? What, dude, are you some kind of homo?"

Rates of attempted and completed suicide among LGBTQ youth are alarming. Studies have shown that these rates increase in regions where laws authorizing discrimination against LGBTQ people are passed. LGBTQ students are three times more likely to feel unsafe at school than heterosexual students. LGBTQ people are overrepresented still, in Canada, in terms of homelessness.

You are a part of that problem, with your schoolyard gay-labeling BS, so kindly **** off
will the Messiah walk across water drowning bullies as he is trucking along with holy water splashing from his pedicured feet?

Pride is a commercial family event with zero political meaning.

This is apparently a really big deal for some people.

Huh.

No kidding, why is JT wasting time at a nonevent.

What next? KITCHENER WATERLOO FLYING DUTCHMEN R/C CLUB Where Justin reenacts the battle of Midway?

I bet he flies a zero instead of a corsair.

Huh.
Not for me, For the last 15 years I have been in the Toronto area around the time of the pride parade, and never had the slightest interest in seeing people make fools of themselves in garish and stupid looking costumes..
I attended the Jazz Festival in Orangeville and the Bluegrass Festival in Tottenham taking place at about that time...

Absolutely no conflict of preferences for me there:lol:
This year, besides going to Tottenham we will probably take in a diner and show at medieval Times in T.O.
Much more interesting costumes... Dinner Theatre Toronto, ON: Live Show & Medieval Feast | Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

It's not like that anymore. It's commercially sponsored floats that boast they hire lgbt. It's like the Santa Claus parade but far more colourful.

Huh indeed! I admit I've never looked at the thread before, &
just flipped to the last page as I'm waiting for the oven to warm
up.....& I'm assuming (from the thread title) that this is also the
PM's first Pride Parade that he's marched in....so why the hair
doo & wardrobe changes? Or is this just the first one he's
attended in Toronto?

A real prime minister wears an expensive suit, all the time. He should be a serious person. Stop fukkin around with the minoritys. It's the rest of us he should cultivate.

I think he's one term, maybe not even that much.

No kidding, why is JT wasting time at a nonevent.

What next? KITCHENER WATERLOO FLYING DUTCHMEN R/C CLUB Where Justin reenacts the battle of Midway?

I bet he flies a zero instead of a corsair.

It's all about rainbows.

It will be his first parade as P. M.

But not the first he's ever attended....

I have actually been thinking about that. I got this CAD stuff to get done and I need to take instruction. I'm sorry I disturbed you.

I have to agree to kindly disagree, it's what's inside his head that makes a real prime minister, not how much money he spends in the f**king haberdashery! :)

I know what you mean but he is not RobbinHood, he's should stick to the suits and stop appealing to the mob. Where's our fukkin gold? How much paper did we get for it?

Above was Vancouver last summer. All the parties and public service unions, Evil Corp and Bank of Evil were there handing out rainbow themed flyers like they were Vegas escorts.

I was there and saw Justin. I was without pink shirt but I was dressed the same as the lesbians just by happenstance.
