So mom switched you a few times before reason had taken root in you, that is the natural way, it's not cruelty it's nurture, the cubs and pups do not rule the family the family rules them. Parents who fail to establish that rule become victimized by children who remain immature sometimes into adulthood and beyond. It's not uncommon to see parents in a department store being terrorized by spoiled rotten little monsters that they are responsible for producing. In those cases I'm torn between wanting to beat the parents and the children.
I can recall on one hand all the punishments I levied out upon my children. It was my job as a parent to instill respect. If they had none for me and thier mother they would hardly have been inclined to exercise any in the world outside of the family. No parent should enjoy that responsibility and none should ignore it.
that's nice. Still don't believe in it,,thanks for the lecture though.

My dear old mother beat me into the man I am today, with a broom.
You dad was a smart man, work it out so he is the 'good parent' and get you to hate just your mother as she delivered said abuse. He must have come from a long line if he was also into 'covering his tracks'.

I think we're into a polarized discussion here where there just isn't going to be agreement. I guess it's one of those things you either agree with it or you don't. I got lots of whuppins as a kid & when I got it from the Old man it didn't exactly tickle, but I deserved them and they never did any lasting harm, mother used the hair brush. As I've said before I prefer another way if you can find one that works. I think it's a punishment mainly suited for boys. At any rate the mother should be the one disciplining the girls.

You forgot (or left out) what careers they drifted into. Prison guards perhaps??

If I could go back now, I would have never spanked my kids.

Unfortunately, I lacked the wisdom to see that.

That's what life's about.................making adjustments as you gain wisdom. I shudder when I think back on some of the sh*t I did in my youth and younger adult days, but the main thing is I survived it and no one died and there is nothing you can do to change it, so just laugh at it and be happy.

Do you realize that you just gave DB the rank of 'expert' and perhaps even 'above expert'? (in whatever task they took on)

A lot of us were like that! :)
Not LL obviously, he saved that stage of development for this time of his life. I may have to review my stance on spanking if he doesn't respond well to the spoken word.

A lot of us were like that! :)
Let's hope that wasn't beaten out of you. You were probably the sanest on the block as far as spotting bullcrap.

In fact, a bill to this effect has already been introduced during the current Parliament, by Senator the Honourable Céline Hervieux-Payette, P.C. (of the Senate Liberals), called Bill S-206, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (protection of children against standard child-rearing violence). The bill proposes to delete s. 43 of the Criminal Code, and provides a one-year transition period in which the Government can educate the population on the impact of the legislation. (Click here to view Bill S-206.)

That control isn't always in the hands of the one it should be in? There is also the part when the older you are the wiser you are. If that process could be speeded up then good decision making skills could be the norm at age 35 instead of 55. Today, death-bed confessions might be the most truthful time in some people's lives. The great scientists left their best work for when they were retired and retribution would have been pointless.

Unfortunately not, it takes getting screwed a few times to learn the lesson. :) :)
How people act around 4 legged critters says a lot about what kind of person they are if they are in a rush and somebody is in their way. It doesn't mean society should shun them but society should be away of who is walking along with them. People learn from seeing others do the act or action, including terms like 'hot'.

Popcorn, beer and we know how to parent better than you, lol.

I love it when the liberals meet all my expectations in the first month of their mandate.

4 years of sheer entertainment.

Depends on the 4 legged critter!
